Tuesday

Peaches Ripening

This year's peach crop is a lot smaller than in previous years, with the tree still recovering from the trauma of having the main trunk break off, last year, but, almost half of this year's peaches seem to be on this one branch!  They have at least another couple of weeks to go before they are ripe and so far, the birds have not pecked at them.

Today, I called the clinic in the morning to reconfirm my appointment for the afternoon.  My appointment was for 1:00 p.m. and I was asked to be there 15 minutes prior to that.  So, I left the house at 11:45 a.m. and arrived at the clinic at exactly 12:45 p.m.  There was a short wait before I was seen, which was fine as I had taken my crocheting with me.  I was able to do a couple of rows before I was called in.  The check up went well and there was nothing to be concerned about.

On the way home, I treated myself to a pepperoni pizza ($5.99 + tax) and had some of it for both my lunch and my dinner!  I packaged up the rest of the pizza and froze it.  I am going to try my best to forget that it is in the freezer!  LOL.

I rested a bit after I came home and cut out more pieces of fabric for six more cat blocks.  Then, I dusted my bedroom, watered the fruit trees and seedlings, ran the dishwasher, and put away the laundry.  I also committed a "random act of cleaning" and washed the bedroom and bathroom doors, the door frames, and the linen closet doors!

 Tuesday's To Do List:

- Dust my bedroom ✔
- Doctor's appointment ✔
- Water the fruit trees and seedlings ✔
- Water the house plants ✔
- Bring the trash cans in ✔
- Put away the last load of laundry ✔
- Run the dishwasher ✔

Later in the evening, I spoke with friend R and video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- The doctor's appointment went well
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Blueberries from the garden
- Working appliances
- Water for the garden

Today's joyful activity was playing with fabric!

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Tend to the garden with M
- Vacuum
- Paperwork/filing
- Tidy/organize some of the kitchen cabinets and drawers
- Continue to play with fabric

How was your Tuesday?  How is your Wednesday coming along?  Do you commit random acts of cleaning from time to time?

  1. A random act of cleaning sounds like a brilliant idea! Maybe I should write some ideas on little cards and pull one out every so often...

    1. Sounds like a plan to me, Angela. :) Maybe you'll share what your cleaning tasks will be!

  2. I can't even imagine being able to walk outside the back door and pick a peach! I'm glad the tree seems happy. I suppose in the long run, having had a "prune" last year will be beneficial, in terms of its strength and yield. Enjoy your harvest!

    1. I tried to stick a folding chair under that branch, to prop it up a bit (didn't want it breaking off under the weight of the fruit!) and managed to dislodge three peaches in the process! They are firm, but, will be good to eat as a pickle - we often cut up unripe mangoes and add to a mixture of vinegar, salt, sugar, and chillie powder and snack on it. I'll just use the peaches, instead. :)

    2. Yes, mum said that in India the unripe mangoes are used for pickling and chutney. I'm sure it will work just as well with peaches.

    3. Well, I cut up one and added it to my salad! It was good!

  3. Those peaches are beautiful. I can taste them right now (or what they'll taste like in a couple of weeks.) :) I like you phrase, "Random act of cleaning." It makes cleaning sound more fun.

    1. I managed to knock off three of the peaches, this morning, while trying to push a folding chair under that branch to prop it up, a bit. They are not quite ripe, yet (very firm to the touch), but, I will cut them up and make what we call a pickle - sort of like a salsa - with vinegar, salt, sugar, and chili powder. I actually like crunchy peaches to eat like apples! :D

  4. WOW that peach tree is gifting you with an abundance of peaches. I always like to treat myself after a doctor's appt. especially if they had to draw blood! My treat choice is usually frozen yoghurt. :)

    1. I'm looking forward to this year's peaches. There are fewer of them, but, I hope they will be sweet. Frozen yoghurt sounds good, too, and I was, actually, thinking of an ice cream cone, but, the doctor had just told me that my blood sugar level was good and I have to do another blood test for my other doctor's appointment that is scheduled for next week, so, I resisted the cone! :)

  5. Those peaches look delicious. It is such a blessing to be able to pick fresh fruit from your garden, and I do hope your little tree manages to remain upright this season.
My house is currently in a state of needing much more than a random act of cleaning :) A job for tomorrow, I think. Xx

    1. Thank you, Jules; I think the tree will remain upright, this year, as there aren't as many peaches on it. Just this one branch that is laden. I propped a folding chair under it to help support it and knocked three peaches off!
The random acts of cleaning are those tasks that you don't always do during your weekly cleaning. Hope you will be able to restore some order to your home, tomorrow. :)

  6. Those peaches look lovely and I hope the birds leave them alone for you. Good news your oncology check up went well. I'm sure your pizza was delicious and you aren't tempted to eat the remainder too soon :)

    1. They do look good, don't they? So far, the birds have left them alone! I knocked three of the fruit off the branch, this morning, trying to prop up the branch, but, they are good even when not quite ripe.
Thank you, Eileen; yes, the check up went well and the lab test results were all good. :)
The pizza was lovely, but, now, I'm focusing on having salads for the rest of this week! :D

  7. I'm glad to hear that your appointment went well. I guess the pizza was by way of celebrating. I did a random act of cleaning the other day with some still clean soapy water that I had used to dip a cloth to wipe the outdoor Christmas lights before putting them away. I decided to wipe down the windowsills and the doorstep.
Our rhubarb has grown magnificently again this spring, so I pulled some for the first tasting. The leaves I cut off and used to mulch around the rhubarb.

Well done with the RAOC! :)
Yum! Rhubarb! I love rhubarb and they are expensive to buy, here. I tried growing them without much success. Enjoy your rhubarb!

  10. Those peaches look good enough to eat already! Nice that your appointment went well, pizza is always a treat. Random cleaning tasks sounds a wonderful idea and I have lots of those, I think I will hose down the windows outside, when the sun shines on them I am ashamed at all the dust and smears!

    1. I managed to knock three of the peaches off the branch when I tried to prop up the branch, today; I cut one of them and added half to my salad and gave the other half (plus a whole peach) to my gardener M to snack on. He agreed that underripe peaches weren't half bad! :D
Hosing down the windows will definitely count as a random act of cleaning! :)

  11. Oh how I love pizza. I find that I feel less guilty indulging in pizza if I have a salad with it. LOL Glad all went well at your check up. Denise

    1. Yes, ideally, one should have a salad with pizza. I had my pizza without salad, yesterday, and, today, I had a salad without pizza! Something is not quite right, there! :D Thank you, Denise. :)

  12. Good news that there were no concerns raised at your check up, and a pizza is definitely the perfect treat after a medical appointment.

I do the occasional random act of cleaning. Not very often because I don't really do any cleaning that often (there are always better things to do!) but every now and then I'm struck by the urge to tackle some bit of cleaning and make it sparkle again!

    1. Thank you, Eileen; yes, I'm glad there were no issues raised at the check up. The pizza was just what the doctor ordered - NOT! :D

Random acts of cleaning can get the house sparkling; I don't do them often enough, but, I guess I'm in a spring cleaning mood, because I did another one, today! :D

That pizza in the freezer would be calling me to free it from it's frozen life :)

Your random act of cleaning was a big one. That's a good job to get taken care of.

    1. Ha, ha, the pizza has been joined by a packet of frozen ravioli which is calling out to me!
Yes, those doors were dusty (they have horizontal strips on them to give a paneled effect) and, because I sprinkle blessed water around the house every night, there were spots on the doors, as well. Every time I notice the spots, I say to myself that I must clean the doors and yesterday was the day to do it! :D Today, I dusted the tops of the doors and door frames. :)
