Productive Monday

Another Rose

I've had another productive day, today.  A relaxed morning, during which I replied to blog comments, etc., and walked around the garden for a bit.  I picked three oranges from the tree.  The oranges are coming to an end; there are maybe 3 or 4 left on the tree.  After those are gone, there won't be anymore until next year.  I also did some dusting and two loads of laundry.

In the late afternoon, I took my daughter to get her dental CT scan done.  It didn't take long and they gave the results on a CD which daughter dropped off at the dental clinic on our way home.

After we came home and daughter made me a cup of coffee, I did the rest of the tasks on my To Do List - cleaned the fridge, took the trash cans to the curb, practiced the piano, and ran the dishwasher.

Brunch had been fried rice.  For dinner, I cooked a chicken stir fry with green beans served over rice:

Dinner:  Chicken and Green Beans Stir Fry over Rice

There's enough of the stir fry left for tomorrow's dinner.  I haven't been making any meal plans, lately, but, we've been eating well.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter's dental scan appointment went well
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Oranges from the garden
- Roses
- A productive day

Today's joyful activity was picking fresh oranges from the tree.

Tuesday's To Do List:

- Blood test
- Dust family room and my bedroom
- Put away the dried laundry
- Water the house plants
- Piano lesson
- Plant the sweet potato slips that have been rooting

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  1. Glad to hear your daughter's dental scan appointment went smoothly and I hope that'll be the same for your blood tests today.

This morning I made a start on cleaning my playroom as well as doing a couple of loads of washing. I need to water the pots later on but that's about it for my day. I've just had lunch and will have a quiet afternoon, just relaxing.

  2. Are you lemons almost done, also? Or do they fruit at a different time than the oranges?

    1. Yes, the lemons are almost done, too. I didn't have as plentiful a crop this year to begin with and have about 5 or 6 lemons left on one tree. But, all the citrus trees are flowering now, so, I am looking forward to the next crop. :)

  4. A no plan plan is extra appealing to me right now too!
I have been so tired from all the working at Mom's house that I have only been reading blogs at night while in bed, which means I have not been commenting lately even though I am current with them.
Even though your oranges are about through, you were able to pick them form the tree and have fresh oranges. That has to be wonderful. We are thinking about putting in a greenhouse this year. If we do I could have some small potted citrus trees.. We have very few freezing days but a few nights so most citrus will not survive overwintering here.

    1. Yes, I read your meal plan post ("something", "something else") and laughed because that's what I'm doing, too! But, I think there will be a chicken curry later in the week, simply because we haven't had any in a couple of weeks (and that's a long time without chicken curry in this household!)

A greenhouse with potted citrus trees should work, I would think. :)

  5. That is neat to be able to take the dental scan straight to the dental clinic on a CD.
I can now boast one lemon tree. It is about 2 inches high with two leaves and another two peeking out. I have grown it from a pip and I hope that it will survive my poor plant skills and grow into a nice potted tree. I used to have one years ago, or maybe it was an orange or grapefruit.

    1. I, too, was surprised with the receptionist told my daughter to wait while they put it on a CD. :)

Oh, how wonderful to hear that you are growing a lemon tree from a pip! Well done! I hope it continues to grow into a lovely little lemon tree and produce lots of nice lemons for you. :)

  6. Hi Bless, I'm still eating home grown oranges, too. I got the electric window in my car fixed today. Did some laundry and blogging, as well.

    1. Sounds like you are quite busy, Stephenie. Home grown fruits are the best, aren't they? I need to take my car in for a service, too; have been postponing it for almost a year!

  7. I love it when I cook enough food to last for two dinners, so that I don't need to begin cooking as soon as I get in from work.
Enjoy the last of your oranges. X

    1. It's good to know that there are leftovers in the fridge, isn't it? A long time ago, when I was working and had a full schedule with my daughter's extracurricular activities, I used to cook two or three main dishes (a chicken curry and a beef curry, for example) for the whole week and make enough of a couple of side dishes to last a couple of days. Then, midweek, I'd cook another couple of side dishes to carry us through till the end of the week. I would get tired of the sameness of the meals before my daughter did, but, it meant I didn't have to cook every day. :)
