Tuesday: Low Air Pressure and a Doctor's Appointment

Tuesday morning, when I left the house to go to the office, I noticed the low tire pressure light had come on in the car!  So, I drove straight to my neighbor's auto repair shop.  He checked the tires and added a little air to one of them.  Such a blessing that he is able to do that for me!  I'll keep an eye on that tire - if it keeps loosing air, it might be an indication of a nail puncture, or something.

Then I went to the office and had a fairly productive morning.  In the afternoon, I went to my follow-up appointment with the radiation oncologist.  It has been two years since the lumpectomy and a little more than a year since the radiation treatments ended, but, there is still some lymphedema.  Seems like my body is taking its own sweet time to heal.  The doctor examined me and said to come back for another follow up visit in two months' time.

I had planned to do a few things after I came home, but all I managed to do was bring in the trash cans, return the call from my doctor's office to confirm my appointment for tomorrow, go through this week's grocery ads (whole chicken is on sale for $.87/lb., I will buy two for the prayer gathering dinner), and make a shopping list for the prayer gathering dinner.  After that, I felt tired and took a nap!

I woke up when my daughter called to say she was home from work.  We spoke for a bit and I had a cup of coffee and a piece of toast with peanut butter.  Then, I went for my walk.  My goal is to walk for 30 minutes a day.  I set my timer for 15 minutes, walk as far as I can during that time, then, reset the timer and walk back.  For now, distance is not a factor.

After I came home from my walk, I made a scrambled egg on toast for dinner and washed the dishes.  Later, I made some stewed apple for dessert:

Stewed Apple
I just sliced the apple, sauted it in a little butter and added a spoon or two of sugar; the juice from the apple makes a nice syrup with the sugar.  It's one of my favorite ways to make a dessert with apples.

I video chatted with my daughter, later in the evening, exchanged emails with a friend, and visited a couple of blogs.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Warning lights that alert me when tire pressure is low, etc.
- My neighbor was able to check my tires and add some air as needed, for me.
- A good visit with the radiation oncologist
- Emails from my friend
- Chatting with my daughter

Tomorrow, I have my appointment with my physician assistant in the afternoon.  I will go to the office in the morning and then, go to the clinic.

How was your Tuesday?   What are some of your favorite apple desserts?

  1. I'm so glad you managed your walk. I like the idea of using the timer, it's a good way of doing it and that way you can vary your route.
The stewed apples sound delicious. I'm hoping the house down the road will have some available soon. They always leave out any extras for people to help themselves.
I hope all goes well with your appointment. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. Setting off seems to be the hardest part of going on the walk, for me! Once I come home from work, all I want to do is sit on the sofa and relax! :) Nice of your neighbors to leave out extra apples for people to help themselves. Lucky you!

  2. Hands down, apple pie is my favorite apple dessert. Otherwise, I prefer raw apples to cooked ones including applesauce. Also, I'm glad you had a good doctor's visit.

    1. Apple pie is a favorite with me, too! :) But, when I have apple pie, then I want ice cream with it! I do have plans to make an apple pie, later this fall. The stewed apple is a little like apple pie filling, I think. I like raw apples, too, but I have to be careful with my teeth! I've too many old crowns and fillings ready to fall out!

    1. Thank you, Judy. He's shown me how to do it myself, but I can't quite get the hang of it. So, I have him check it for me! :)

  4. It is a nice time of year to begin your 30 minute a day walking program.

Always something isn't it with cars but handy you get a warning light pertaining to low air pressur.

I like Gala apples and eat one daily. Apples are good in pie or cobbler.

    1. Sandy, yes, it is finally turning cool enough to go for a walk in comfort. Very glad the warning light came on - I'd hate to get a flat tire while I am on the freeway. Gala apples are among my favorites. Yum, apple cobbler! I have not made any, but I had some at a restaurant once, and loved it!

  5. If you have had a change in temperature in your area that could explain the low tire pressure light. I had it happen to me a few years ago. Apple tarts are just out of this world-- especially if someone else cooks them.

  6. Apples look delicious! I love walking! I wouldn't worry about distance or speed, you'll get to be able to walk further and faster once you've been doing it a while. Have a great rest of the week!

  7. Your sweet apple dessert looks quite yummy! We have a couple of apples in the fridge and I will try your recipe. You certainly can't go wrong with butter and sugar ... I may add a light dusting of cinnamon. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Carolyn, I often add cinnamon to the apples - either powdered cinnamon or a piece of cinnamon. This time, however, I just made it plain, as that's what I wanted.
