I worked from home, today. In between office work, I put away the laundry from yesterday and did two more loads of laundry.
Lunch was leftovers from the prayer gathering dinner:
|Lunch: rice, asparagus, smoked sausage with spring onions, cashew curry, meatball curry|
Later, in the evening, I brought in the trash cans, washed the roasting pan and some other dishes, put away the big rice cooker, and swept and mopped the kitchen floor.
Today, I was grateful for:
- Being able to work from home
- A lovely, warm summer-like day
- Exchanging emails with my friend
- Video chatting with daughter

How was your Tuesday?
What a nice spin, "a lovely, warm, summer-like day". 106 without AC in my house would not have me calling the day lovely. I think I'd probably say something like "a miserable, HOT, unbearable day."ReplyDelete
How did you make things bearable so you could function in the heat?
Ah, but it was 106F outside, not inside the house. Inside, it was a very comfortable 90F. :) Ha, ha, actually, I love the heat. I was very happy, all day, yesterday. I didn't even turn on the fan, until about 10:30 p.m., and only because I didn't want to sweat after I showered. It was 72F when I stepped out of the house this morning and I was wearing a cardigan. It was 82F when I reached downtown and I was still wearing the cardigan. (I did remove the cardigan when I got into the car to drive home in the evening; it was 95F by then). It doesn't get hot enough for me to complain until it goes up to about 110F.Delete
Fabulous that you have the freedom to work from home and good left over food to enjoy. 106F is really very hot for this late in October.ReplyDelete
I did my usual Tuesday weekly shop and have started to buy in items I don't usually buy for the expected visit from my New York son and his three little boys. Also working on getting the bedrooms ready and put away all the Christmas gifts that were sitting around in bags.
Sandy, it really is a blessing to be able to work from home! It is a privilege I was allowed when I became ill. I could have taken a leave of absence during my treatment, but I didn't want to take the time off and my office was happy to have me work from home because the work continued to get done. I am trying not to take advantage of the privilege, but, there are days when I just don't feel up to going to the office. I offer to work from home on those days or I have the option of taking a day off (either sick leave or vacation). I don't feel sick enough to take sick time off and I feel guilty about taking a vacation day off when there is work to be done, so I ask if I can work from home.Delete
Good planning on your part, getting ready for Christmas and your family's visit! Will you have Christmas dinner at your home or at your daughter's? Will your other son join you for the holidays?
My Tuesday was mixed...returned to work after a few days off, and to a desk with too much work on it! The good thing was that my son stayed for the night. Didn't see much of him because he came in late and left early but it did mean I got a hug which was lovely!ReplyDelete
Don't you hate it when you return to work after a break and find the desk piled with work to do? By the end of the day, it's like you never got a break at all! Glad your son stayed the night and you got a hug. :) (Is this the son who moved away?)Delete
We don't have your temperatures but for several days it was mild and on Tuesday it was so nice out that we even ate our lunch on the deck! The weather is cooling off now, and I doubt we will be able to do so again, but DH is kidding himself that he will go for a last swim on November 1st!ReplyDelete
I'm still trying to shake off the remains of the cold/cough that is dragging me down, which is why I got behind reading your blog. One of these days I shall get back enough energy to really "fettle" (Yorkshire dialect) the house, instead of just doing one or two jobs a day.
This temperature is actually a little too hot for being outside for long, although they played the first game of the world series baseball game at Dodger Stadium in 100+ temperatures, yesterday. I'm glad you got to enjoy eating on the deck one last time; um, not sure if the water will be warm enough for swimming on November 1st! Maybe he's like those people who go swimming on January 1st?Delete
I hope you recover from the cold/cough, soon, Bushlady. Take it easy for a few days even after you feel better, in order to avoid getting a relapse.
We finally have some cooler weather and I am loving it. It looks like the highs will be below 75 all week. Whoop! Glad you were able to work from home and had a good day!ReplyDelete
Glad you are having cooler weather, Anne. The forecast says it will be in the low-70s by Monday, so we'll be cooling down, too.Delete
Proud you got to work from home, and didn't have to be in all that traffic..ReplyDelete
Thank you, Judy. I lose 2 hrs. each day due to commuting! Makes for a long work day.Delete
