Sunday At Home

We had a quiet, relaxed Sunday at home, today.  Daughter had requested waffles for Sunday breakfast.  She doesn't have a waffle maker at her apartment and doesn't think she'll make enough waffles to justify buying one, and she doesn't much care for frozen waffles, so, when she comes home, she asks for waffles.  We had them with fresh strawberries given to us by some friends.

Later, I ran the dish washer and mended a pair of daughter's pants; the back pocket was coming off and I sewed it back on.

For Sunday lunch, I cooked the salmon steaks:

Sauted Salmon Steaks
I sauted sliced red onions and cut up tomatoes in some vegetable oil and then, added the salmon steaks.  The salmon steaks were seasoned on each side with salt, ground pepper and fresh lemon juice.

The salmon was served with rice, garlicky sauted green beans (the green beans were parboiled and sauted with sliced garlic in a bit of vegetable oil) and homemade tomato chutney:

Lunch
Ice cream for dessert.

In the evening, we did each others nails and I oiled and brushed daughter's hair.  I also watered the back garden.  Daughter sorted through some of her books and set aside a stack for donating.  I shall be going through some of my books and adding to the donations, in the next few days.

Dinner was leftovers; fruit for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Being able to spend the weekend with daughter
- Doing each others nails
- Daughter doing the dinner dishes for me
- Hugs and cuddles
- Cooking her favorite meals and being told, "You are totally spoiling me!"

Daughter returns to Berkeley, tomorrow.  She has confirmed her flight and packed her bag.  Just her carry-on bag; no checked luggage.  We are relaxing on the sofa as I type this - with one hand as she has her head in my lap.  Reminds me of the words of the song from My Fair Lady: "Someone's head resting on my knee".  Yes, it is, indeed, quite "loverly".  :)

Hope you, too, have spent a fine Sunday in the company of loved ones.

    1. Judy, thank you. We did have fun. Playing "nail salon" and "hair salon" used to be two of her favorite things to do when she was a little girl.
