Togepi in a Stocking |
Togepi is another Pokemon, who is usually depicted as hatching from its egg. You can see a little bit of the top of the egg shell above the stocking. This was daughter's crafted ornament of the day. In addition, she decorated a couple of baubles at my request:

On Sunday, I started to decorate the Christmas tree. I didn't finish decorating it, though.
In the afternoon, neighbor S's daughter N texted my daughter and asked her if she'd like to have some clothes, some with their tags still on them, that N was decluttering from her closet. Daughter said she'd love to have them and N brought them over about 20 minutes later, telling daughter to keep what she liked and donate or do whatever she liked with the others. There were five tops in the bag of clothes - three which were long sleeved knit tops (too thin to be considered as sweaters) and two short sleeved blouses. All the items except one blouse had the tags still on. Daughter tried them on and the three knit tops fitted her perfectly. The two blouses were a big snug on her, but, they fitted me, just right! So, I will keep them for the summer and declutter two of my older blouses.
Later, I did two loads of laundry, including the new clothes and daughter's bed sheets. Afterwards, I remade daughter's bed, with the washed and dried sheets.
Brunch had been egg salad (I usually add finely diced green Serrano chilies to my egg salad; today, I added diced red and green Serrano chilies to it and called it Christmas egg salad), bananas, and orange juice. For dinner, I made a curry with some of the leftover turkey, sauteed broccoli, and freshly cooked rice. I looked for the two cucumbers I had bought on Friday, but, apparently, I didn't receive them! Or, if I did receive them, then, I don't know where I put them! They were not in the fridge, they were not in the one bag of hot cheetos that I had kept in the spare bedroom, they were not in the cabinet where I had stored some of the canned items (tuna) and bottled salad dressing I had bought. I went through the fridge shelf by shelf and drawer by drawer and cleaned the fridge while I looked for the cucumbers, so that task was done! I had been too busy on Friday to check the groceries against the receipt as I normally do and now, it is too late to call the store to say that an item was missing. Maybe the cucumbers were accidentally given to the other pick up customer who was waiting while my groceries were being loaded into my car.
After dinner, I ran the dishwasher and washed all of Dancer's food bowls by hand. I also chatted with friend R and ordered some holiday gifts. I'm trying to get the Christmas and New Year gifts ordered well in advance, this year, because I want to focus more on preparations for the almsgiving which is scheduled for the 28th of December.
On Sunday, I was grateful for:
- A nice, sunny day
- Working appliances
- The gift of new clothes
- Being able to order items online
- What I was able to accomplish

Sunday's joyful activity was starting to decorate the Christmas tree.
Plans for Monday include:
- Finish decorating the Christmas tree
- Put away the laundry
- Water the front garden

How was your Sunday? What are your plans for Monday? Have you started shopping for Christmas gifts?
They probably just forgot to put the cucumbers in your bag, but did you check your car? Every once in a while I've found missing groceries there.
ReplyDeleteYes, maybe they forgot. They did send me a text, earlier, that the order was filled and there was nothing out of stock and there were no substitutions made.
DeleteI did check the car, yesterday. The groceries were loaded in the trunk and I moved the couple of reusable grocery bags I keep in the car to make sure that the cucumbers didn't roll under them. I checked the cabinets where I had put away the non-perishable stuff I bought, too, and the empty grocery bags, and under the table where I kept the grocery bags. I don't think I put them in the freezer when I put the ice cream away. I just hope that I won't be opening something after a couple of weeks and find a rotting cucumber!
What beautiful handmade and decorated ornaments! Your tree is going to be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have your daughter home. I imagine you storing up all the love and energy to have warm memories all winter.
My younger daughter was here for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful! We talked, laughed, and stayed up way too late each night. She and I cooked the whole Thanksgiving dinner, except for mashed potatoes—husband always does those. We carried everything to my mother-in-law’s house for dinner. Your Thanksgiving sounds as though it was lovely as well.
I went to hear Handel’s Messiah with my sister. It was an amazing performance and we walked a little in Manhattan to see the decorations and the tree at Rockefeller Center. I am finding the program book from the concert to be a good Christmas devotional.
I hope all is well with you! I look forward to checking back in and reading about your holidays and your almsgiving event. Be well! 😘
Hi Taconix! Lovely to hear from you, again.
DeleteHow wonderful that your younger daughter was able to be with you over Thanksgiving! Sounds like you had a lovely family gathering over Thanksgiving.
Going to hear Handel's Messiah and seeing the tree at Rockefeller Center sounds like fun.
Things are well with me, thank you. I wish you good health, too, and a very happy Christmas and New Year.
We here in the UK are recovering from quite a bad storm. Today has been cold and wet, but the high winds have dropped significantly. After a busy family weekend - including a long power outage - we have had a quiet day at home, grateful for food and warmth.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the bad storm and the power outage. Glad you came through that safely and are able to enjoy a quiet day at home. Stay warm and dry!
DeleteHello Bless! I finally had time to catch up on your blog. Your holiday season is looking mighty festive and mighty fine. 🎉 This year, we didn't have the taste for most holiday foods that have become traditions, so we ate Indian curries, homemade pancakes for all of meals, and other random things as desired. With regard to decluttering, I've gotten rid of so much but there's still more to release. I've stopped counting now because the initial counting made it possible to get started and keep going IMHO, and that has been accomplished, thanks to you.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all of your daughter's creations and wish her well with her ankle. If you all use natural remedies, she can ask her doctor if she can start using comfrey salve on her ankle. I'm no doctor and I hesitate to things like this, but I've studied herbalism for years and encourage you to research comfrey if you're interested.
Have a lovely week Bless, and hope to "see" you again before too long.
Hello Nia! Lovely to hear from you, again! Indian curries and homemade pancakes sound delicious (you know that I often eat my pancakes and waffles with curry).
DeleteI'm glad you are continuing on your decluttering journey. It is not necessary to keep count, but, a challenge every now and then can often give us the motivation we need to get started. It sounds like you are really doing great!
Thank you for suggesting the comfrey salve; I shall mention it to my daughter. We have been soaking her foot in Epsom salts and icing it.
Thank you, Nia; I hope that you have a lovely week, too, and, if you are too busy between now and the end of the year to read blogs, I wish you a very happy holiday season.
Your daughter has a lot of patience with the Pokemon ornaments, and they turn out so well. The baubles are great, too. I hope you find the missing cucumbers. I seem to be often missing items. I looked for some glue that I was sure I had, and there is no trace of it. I'm sure I've mislaid a pair of socks, too. It makes me think of "The Borrowers", that delightful book series. I do know where one of our missing dessert spoons is. DDIL took it home by mistake on one visit. But others disappeared, as did a couple of forks in the past.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bushlady. The Pokemon ornaments do take her some time to make, but, she is enjoying making them.
DeleteI just hope that the store omitted the cucumbers by mistake (or added them to another customer's groceries) and I didn't put them away somewhere other than the fridge! I have visions of seeing some green slimy stuff leaking down a cabinet or pooling in the bottom of a drawer!
Spoons and forks, etc., always have a way of disappearing, don't they? These days, when things go missing, I wonder if I decluttered them! :D
Lovely crafted items. Really nice of neighbour to bring over the clothes and lovely that both you and daughter were able to use them.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. Yes, it was very nice of my neighbor to bring over the clothes, wasn't it? I didn't have to buy any clothes this year, other than socks and undies, mainly because people have given me clothes that they've decluttered! What my daughter and I can't wear, we pass along to one of my friends who sends them to her daughters and granddaughter in Sri Lanka. :)
DeleteThe decorations are wonderful, and the snowflakes look so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou've just reminded me that I need to change Lily's bed sheets. She'll need her Christmas duvet cover putting on. Xx
Thank you, Jules.
DeleteGlad I reminded you to change Lily's bed sheets and duvet cover! Hope you're keeping well and everything is going smoothly for you.
I have just caught up with your last few posts Bless. What a talented daughter you have. Her decorations are so lovely! I particularly love the beaded ones, they must take her a while to make those. Absolutely gorgeous 😊
ReplyDeleteWhat a mystery about those missing cucumbers.... 🤔
Angie ❤️
Hi Angie. Thank you so much. My daughter is enjoying her daily crafting projects. :)
DeleteI've no idea what happened to the cucumbers! I had planned to have them sliced up as a side dish with some of my meals during the week and have had to find other vegetables, instead!
How lovely to have some new (to you) clothes to look forward to wearing in the summer. Love FD xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, FD; yes, it's nice to have some new to me clothes (one was quite new, with tags on it).
DeleteAnother cute ornament from your daughter. And she did a good job decorating your ornaments, making them a bit more special.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad about your cucumbers. I know you like them. On to the next order they will go.
Thank you, Debra. I love the fact that my daughter decorated some of the old plain baubles.
DeleteSomeone else probably received my cucumbers! I bought another one on my next order (and received it!) They are one of my favorite vegetables. :)
