Mid-Week on Wednesday

Wednesday's Craft: Beaded Ornament

Daughter made a beaded netting for a glass bauble as her craft of the day on Wednesday.

I got into a tidying fit late last night - or, should I say, very early this morning?  From 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., I folded laundry, put away most of the food items I had bought from the Sri Lankan store, cleared the family room table, cleared the little folding table I keep next to my sofa, sorted through paperwork and tossed a bunch of papers to be recycled, broke down cardboard boxes that packages had come in, etc.  I went to bed around 5:30 a.m. and fell asleep a little after 6:00 a.m.

Then, I woke up at 10:00 a.m. to be up and ready when M arrived to tend to the garden.  He brought me another type of succulent and a division from his Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos species) plant.  He also removed the cover from the kitchen light fixture and removed the old bulbs for me.  Daughter ordered new bulbs and they should be delivered on Friday.  Maybe they'll be delivered in time for M to install them when he's here on Friday evening.

The afternoon was spent doing a few things around the house (I ran the dishwasher and wiped down the kitchen counters, etc.), reading blogs, etc.  In the evening, I watched the news and while daughter worked on her beaded ornament, I finished sewing the rows of the crocheted blanket.  Now, I need to crochet the border and finish it.

Brunch was frozen burritos.  Dinner was a turkey and pasta casserole - egg noodles, leftover turkey cut up in small pieces, a handful of frozen green peas, and a can of cream of celery soup with some added seasonings (onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, etc.)  There are some leftovers for another meal.

On Wednesday, I was grateful for:

- A very productive hour very early in the morning
- M's help with the garden and odd jobs around the house
- New plants for the garden
- Sunny days
- A working heater

Wednesday's joyful activity was crocheting.

Plans for Thursday include going for a follow-up lab test at noon and then, maybe ordering some groceries.  We need to buy some salad stuff, fresh fruit, and another container of half and half, etc.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. That beaded ornament looks tedious to make, but the results are great. I was just waking up as you were going to bed. :)

    1. Daughter is really into bead working, right now. I was able to give her my mother's collection of beads, most of which we brought with us from Sri Lanka, as well as some beads I had collected over the years.
I seem to have got my days and nights quite mixed up!

    3. Thank you, Lady Ella. I can remember going shopping with my mother when I was a little girl and seeing her buy tassels of beads. She used to embellish some of her sari blouses with beads.

Happy birthday to your Mama! May she be blessed with good health and I hope she has a lovely day.
I've learned to take advantage of the energy when I have it, no matter what time of day or night! :)

  3. My Wednesday was uneventful, though I still feel like I am recuperating from the past week's company.
I love the ornament and wish I carved out time for crafting. I have it, but I am just not using it to the fullest right now. Gotta change that today!

    1. It takes time to recover from entertaining all week! I only had 3 guests to dinner on Thanksgiving day and it took me a couple of days to recover!
Thank you, Anne; I hope you are able to take some time for crafting. It is a relaxing activity. :)

  4. I had to look up Kangaroo Paw plant and I was not surprised to find that it originates from Australia! What an interesting plant, another one for your ""botanical garden". Soon you will have to open to the public and charge admission! 💵 👍

    1. The plant is also known as Sword Lily I read, but, I've always heard of it referred to as Kangaroo Paw. I am going to have to make some little plant markers with the names of the plants before I turn it into a botanical garden! :D

  5. The beaded ornament is lovely. Your daughter is very talented. We overlapped in the morning! I was starting my day around 4 and then also tidying up for a while. I got my small Christmas tree from storage and decorated it. Feels like Christmas is coming!

I did have a productive hour, didn't I? Too bad I am not quite as productive at other times.

  8. What a pretty adornment for that nice old green ornament. I really like it.
You really got a burst of energy late didn't you? You jumped right in at that late (early?) hour and got a lot done.
You didn't mention a nap but I hop you got one after getting up with only 4 hours of sleep.

    1. The green ornament is actually older than my daughter! :D
I did feel energetic and motivated at that time, and got a lot done. Didn't need a nap. :)
