Home for the Holidays!

Dancer Finds a Comfy Spot

Today, my daughter came home for the holidays!  She was all stressed about flying down and exposing me to any germs she might bring home from the crowds at the airport and on the plane, although she wore a mask the entire time, but, she flew down this afternoon.

I spent the morning doing a little more tidying (dusted the family room and cleared the table) and making her bed with the sheets I washed yesterday.  Then, it was time to drive to the airport to pick her up.

After we came home, we had croissant sandwiches for brunch and she took a nap while I replied to blog comments.  We've spent the evening relaxing.  For dinner, I cooked salmon sauteed with home grown onions and tomatoes, rice, and sauteed green beans.  We had some of my peach chutney with the dinner.  Fresh pomegranate for dessert.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Daughter is home for the holidays
- She had a safe flight down
- A safe drive to the airport and back
- I was able to get the house tidied
-  A working heater and a warm house

Today's joyful activity was spending time with my daughter.

Plans for tomorrow include attending my long time neighbor E's funeral in the early afternoon.

"Hi, Blog Friends!"

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

    1. Thank you, Eileen. Looking forward to the holidays with my daughter. :) Dancer was very pleased to see her again! He didn't try to hide and he purred very loudly when she cuddled him. :)

  2. Bless how lovely that your daughter is home for the Christmas holidays - 3 weeks of joy for all. Dancer looks quite comfortable in spot on the back of the sofa, he can keep a watchful eye on all the activities.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou; it's lovely to have her home, again. :) Dancer has his favorite spots on the backs of the sofas - you can tell because there are dents in the cushions! :D

    1. There was much discussion about when she would come down. First, she and her friend were going to drive down on the 17th. Then, her friend had work commitments and the date kept being pushed back, to the 20th, to the 21st, to the 22nd, etc. Daughter had taken vacation time off for the week and so, I told her to fly down. She was worried about flying down (didn't want to expose me to any germs she might encounter at the airport or on the plane), but I told her it should be OK. She's told me that I am not allowed to get sick! :D

  5. I thought she must be coming soon. You have a certain pattern of preparing for her homecoming and that pattern was evident last week.
I am glad she is home safely and - 3 Weeks! That's a nice holiday break that I'm sure you will both enjoy.

    1. LOL, you know me too well, Debra! Yes, I guess I rush around tidying up the house and picking up groceries before my daughter gets home. :) It's lovely to have her home, again, and Dancer is enjoying all the extra cuddles he's getting. He says "Hi" back at you! :D

  6. How wonderful that your daughter is there and can have a long visit!
Is that a floral blanket folded over? It looks like lovely fabric. Though of course it doesn't compare to Dancer!

    1. Thank you, Celie; yes, it's lovely to have her home for three weeks. :)
The floral thing is one of my Christmas cushions. I bought a set of cushions during one of the after Christmas sales many, many years ago. There are chair pads to match and a set of napkins, too. Sorry the photo is so blurry!

  8. I bet your daughter enjoyed the salmon with extras, including the peach chutney! Dancer looks as if he is posing. I'm surprised he didn't take over the pretty throw.
We have the tree indoors, but it will be decorated in stages, perhaps the lights tomorrow. I'm pleased with it as it is a spruce, and usually we only find a balsam, which is pretty but not firm enough to support ornaments well.

    1. Yes, Bushlady; she did enjoy the salmon. :) Dancer likes being up on the sofa back. The floral thing next to him is a cushion; "his" blanket (the new lap blanket I knitted with all the leftover yarn) was at the other end of the sofa.
Your tree sounds lovely and I bet it smells wonderful, too. My tree has not been decorated, yet. Might do so, tomorrow.

  9. So glad your daughter made it back home safely!
I was really worried about husband's drive back to Michigan today. There was a Winter Storm Warning and the roads were bad, but he made it home safely. A good day all around.
