SPSH - Second Link Up

It is time for the SPSH second link up; many thanks to Mary-Lou at Patio Postcards for hosting this!

These are the photos I have for the SPSH in July.  I will say upfront that several of the photos were taken by my daughter from a moving car because I was driving at the time!

No. 3: Something to Represent Home But Not the Building:  A batik wall hanging depicting the Kandy Esala Perehara  (an annual religious/cultural procession in Sri Lanka) which hangs on my family room wall.  It represents home on a couple of different levels.

No, 3: Something to Represent Home

No. 4: Head in the Clouds: Shapes or Interesting Patterns - Hearts in the Sky!  Skywriting seen while on the way to the clinic:

No. 6: Something that Makes You Laugh or Happy:  Dancer Cat!  Dancer always makes me both happy and laugh!  Either inside a box or outside (notice his scarf by his side!)

No. 17.  An Exit:  A freeway exit.

No. 17:  An Exit

Alternative B: A local landmark - There are several local landmarks, but, here are a couple of them that we were able to photograph:

Universal Studios-Hollywood

One of the places my daughter enjoys going to!  But, not on this visit home!  Even though it is now open!

The Capitol Records Building

Designed to represent a stack of records on a turntable, with the spindle turned upwards.

There is another, more famous, local landmark that daughter managed to photograph; I'm including it here but, I'd really like to get a clearer picture of it, for the final link up.

The Hollywood Sign (in the distance)

Photos to my 1st link up can be found here.

Thank you, Mary-Lou for this opportunity to participate in the SPSH.

  1. I love all of your photos Bless. I recognise all of the landmarks - Universal Studios tour is on my wish list once travel is safe.

Obviously the photos of Dancer are the best but I do like your wall hanging of the Sri Lankan procession.

  2. What a brilliant list of categories and you have some great photos for them. I have to chuckle at Dancer's expressions, he clearly doesn't approve of being photographed! Might you have a photo of milk rice with accompaniment for a Breakfast of champions?

We had such a long walk around the beach yesterday and came back where we started and went a way the other direction. Then it came time to walk back up the hill and it was humid by then. Lots of pauses to rest! It's humid today too, and we had a lot of rain in the night. My almost ripe tomato has blossom end rot, which is probably why no critter has attempted to eat it!

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Dancer says he is a serious thinker who has no time for frivolities such as posing for pictures! :D I was thinking of taking a picture of milk rice for breakfast, but, forgot to take a picture when I made it last - especially after burning the first batch!

Glad you enjoyed such a long walk, yesterday! Sorry to hear about the blossom end rot on the tomatoes - maybe too much rain?

  3. I love you wall hanging. Another time you will have to tell us more Kandy Esala Perehara.

So you live near many things I've seen on TV and in the movies for years!

    1. Thank you, June; the Kandy Perehara was something I used to go to watch, practically every year. Yes, maybe I'll do a post about it. :)

I used to live in Hollywood, itself, for many years, when I first moved to California. :)

    1. I enjoyed participating in the SPSH, Mary-Lou; thank you for hosting it and for allowing my daughter to participate, too. I wouldn't have been able to take those photos for the landmarks, for example, if I had to take them, myself.

  5. Universal Studios! Sunset Boulevard! It all sounds so exciting and far away!

    1. Universal Studios is a fun place to visit. Sunset Boulevard isn't quite as exciting. But, it's all good. :)

    2. It might not be particularly interesting, just a road, but it's a lovely name, very evocative and has inspired a musical so for me, it's exciting to see your photo.

    3. Glad you liked it. I almost didn't include that picture because it was taken accidentally when my daughter was trying to get the Hollywood sign. Then, I thought, it might work for the exit prompt. :)
