Monthly Photo Challenge - July: Many

The theme for the monthly photo challenge, hosted by Eileen, for July was "Many".

Here are my selection of photos:

I have many tomatoes growing on my two tomato plants and I've taken many photos to try and capture the abundance:

Many Tomatoes

More Tomatoes

Green Tomatoes

Red Tomatoes

Of course nothing compared to the zucchini crop!

Many Zucchini

More Zucchini

Which resulted in many, many jars of zucchini chutney, some of which are shown:

Some of the Many Jars of Chutney!

Of course, I couldn't do a post on the theme of many without showing at least some of my many books!

Many Books

Too Many Craft Books!

Finally, flowers in my garden:

Many Flowers on the Squill Flower Stalk

Many Flowers on the Oleander Bush

Pink Oleander

I had a lot of fun taking the photos and getting suggestions from my daughter!

The theme for August is "beginning with E".  I am off to compile a list of items to photograph!

Anyone else thinking of joining in the monthly photo challenge?

  1. Call me psychic, but I had a hunch that zucchini might feature here! Well done with the hunt. That's a lot of chutney! Zucchini jam featured on the BBC tonight and I thought I might look it up...

    1. Thank you, Lady Ella. You are psychic! :D I read about zucchini jam, but, wasn't sure if I'd like the taste after trying the zucchini "apple" pie filling experiment. But, I've plenty of zucchini still in the fridge if I want to experiment. Might have to wait until it is a little cooler - a bit too warm to be stirring a pot of jam, right now!

    2. I made a batch of courgette and ginger marmalade a few years ago - requested by a customer. It was ok but not something I would want myself. Another customer used it as a glaze on baked salmon, which I thought was ingenious.

    3. You know, zucchini and ginger marmalade doesn't sound too bad! Especially if used as a glaze for fish or chicken, etc. I might just try that! Might make some interesting holiday gifts! :)

  2. Oh my! When you see them altogether like that, you did get a lot of courgettes. I used some of mine to make chutney as well. X

    1. Ha, ha, that was just one day's picking, Jules! There were several days when we picked more than 10 zucchini at a time! I didn't keep track of every single one we picked, but, according to my records, we picked 130 zucchini! :D

  3. I like your interpretations of "Many". I think there are more than one of us who are psychic. I predicted a picture of zucchini with this prompt, also. :)

  4. A wonderful MANY collection. I just knew that the zucchini had to figure in with this theme (lol). You certainly are having an abundance of tomatoes.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. Yes, I had to include my zucchini harvest! :D

  5. I love your photos. I'm looking sideways to see what books you have! I remember the first time I ever saw oleanders, I was 17 and in the south of France! Those pink ones are very pretty.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Books on quilting take over half the shelf with the craft books! I know I don't need so many quilt books, but, I do enjoy looking through them from time to time. The other picture (with two shelves) has some history-type books on the top shelf and gardening and house decorating books on the lower shelf. The very top shelf in that bookcase (not shown) has my collection of books on religion.

I had many oleander plants along the back and side walls, at one time; white, dark pink, and light pink. Some had to be cut down when the sewer pipe was replaced, the rest fell victim to a type of blight. I just have two light pink flowered ones now and one of them is showing signs of distress - we pruned some of it, last year; might have to prune it some more, later this year.

  6. I was right ... there are photos of zucchinis ... many zucchinis, and wow, all those tomatoes!

I see you have lots of books on American quilts. There is a huge collection of antique quilts at the American Museum near Bath. I'll add it to my list and photograph some of them for you when they re-open the house.

    Thanks for joining in x

    1. Ha, ha, just about everyone guessed there'd be photos of the zucchini! :D

Yes, lots of books on American quilts (probably too many, although I decluttered some, earlier). I learned English piecing, first, though. I'd love to see any photos of the quilts in the museum, when you are able to visit! Thank you! :)

  7. What wonderful photos for the Many prompt.
My goodness, what a good tomato crop you have going.
Certainly the Many prompt would have to have the zucchinis but probably any prompt would have had the zucchinis because well....it's the year of the zucchini lol

What a beautiful shade of pink your oleander bush is.
Reading through I see that one of your bushes is a bit distressed. I hope it recovers.

    1. Thank you, Debra. Yes, I'm having a wonderful tomato crop, this year! :) I'd have made chutney with them any other year, but, this year's chutney is all zucchini!

I could take some oleander cuttings to root, later in the year, if the other bush doesn't make it. Oleanders are relatively drought tolerant once established, but, they do require some water; I'll have to decide if I want to continue to allocate water to a flowering plant or replace it with a food-producing plant! :)
