Bunny Patrol on Thursday

Bun Bun

Feasting on Grass

This morning, when I drew the drapes and opened the windows, I noticed Bun Bun the white rabbit happily helping himself to breakfast in the back yard!  As far as I could tell, he was eating the grass for the most part.  I don't know if he nibbled on any of the other plants.  I didn't have my cell phone with me at the time to take a picture, but, he returned for dinner and I was able to take the above pictures from the back sliding glass door.  He looked up when he heard me open the door, but, continued with his dinner!  Later, I walked around the back yard and he happily hopped around, eating a calamondin that had fallen, a gazania flower that he bit off from the plant, and some tender new grass!  He allows me to approach within 3 or 4 feet from him before he hops away a little bit further!  He was in the front garden when I went to put water to the front and Pirate Bun watched me from the parkway!  I had the feeling that Pirate Bun was just waiting for me to leave to munch on the freshly watered plants!

M put up a mesh screen around the serrano chili pepper plant when he was here, yesterday, because Bun Bun apparently likes it!  He ate the plant practically all the way down to the ground, earlier, but, it grew back and has some flowers and a few chilies on it:

Bun Bun also ate all the sweet potato tops, but, they, too, grew back.  Snowball has taken it upon herself to guard the sweet potato tops, this time, although she was sleeping on the job!

Today was a rather relaxed day.  I chatted on the phone with aunt C in the morning, wrote a couple of emails to friends, did a couple of nonograms, watered the front garden, did the dishes, and did another load of laundry.  I should have tidied the family room, but, I didn't!  I did call friend R in the evening and had a chat with her.  She's very worried about her family back in Sri Lanka.  She said her sister had stood in line for over 6 hours to get the first dose of the vaccine, but, they ran out of vaccines before she got to the front of the line.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Being able to take it easy when I feel like it
- Working appliances (washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, electric fans, etc.)
- All the modern technology that makes it easy to connect with friends and family
- Electricity to make it all work
- My garden is a bit of a haven to all the animals who live in it

Today's joyful activity was being in the garden - just being able to walk around in it is such a joy!

Plans for tomorrow include doing the tidying I didn't feel like doing today!

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. With such tasty produce on offer, I'm not surprised the little rabbits like your garden.
I'm keeping up with the decluttering. A book, ome spray paint, a storage container, old stamps, and a jumper so far. Xx

    1. As long as the rabbits leave my vegetables and fruits alone, I don't mind them eating some of my plants. I'm just hoping their numbers don't multiply!

Well done on the decluttering! :)

  2. Catching up; glad your daughter's hives have been seen to & hopefully a fairly easy solution. I have wild bunnies to contend with but thankfully, so far, it's just the clover lawn they like. Happy Weekend.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. I think the medications are starting to work; she's not feeling quite as itchy as before. Glad your wild bunnies are happy with the clover lawn. :) Hope you have a great weekend. :)

  3. We are very lucky in this country to have relatively easy access to the vaccine but this disease will not be under control until the rest of the world can catch up. It is a very difficult situation.

    1. We are very blessed in this country; we have access to the vaccine, to good health care facilities which have all the necessary equipment and plentiful supplies. I don't think we quite appreciate just how privileged we are.

  4. It appears that Bun Bun has settled in to becoming a regular customer for your garden smorgasbord. I'm sorry to hear that R's sister couldn't get her vaccine after such a long wait. It makes me so cross that people who can get it easily here don't bother to get their shots (unless of course there is a medical reason against them).

I decluttered a plastic container that had dropped and lost a rounded corner. I had thought to tape it inside and out and use it for something somewhere, but I couldn't think what to use it for anyway. I'm going to donate a skinny cardigan that I never wear so that will be another declutter item.

    1. Today, Bun Bun, Snowbunny, and Pirate Bun were all in the front yard when I went to check the mail! I went indoors to get my cell phone to take a picture, but, by the time I came back out, again, only Bun Bun was there. Later, he stopped by the tomato plant and ate something - I hope it was a leaf and not a tomato! But, yes, Bun Bun is now a regular customer at the smorgasbord!

Yes, it makes me feel sad to know that people in some parts of the world are having such a difficult time to get the vaccine while others who have the vaccine available to them are not taking advantage of it (unless, as you said, they can't take it for medical reasons).

Well done on the decluttering! Today's item was a broken clothes hanger.

  5. Can you imagine waiting in line for 6 hours desperately wanting the vaccine and not being able to get one. And here in the US, there are plenty of vaccines, they are begging people to get one, and many don't want one. Crazy.

    1. Yes, it is crazy and heartbreaking, at the same time. :(

  6. It really is a sad situation where some countries don't have sufficient vaccines for all their people while we are so privileged - I've now been contacted by my surgery to say that, once government gives approval, they will administer the next flu injection which this time will be combined with a Covid booster. I do hope R's family can get their vaccinations soon.

    1. Yes, it is a very sad situation. I'm glad your surgery is being so proactive, combining the flu vaccine with a Covid booster. I wonder if we will be able to do that, here.

  7. Oh no - that is so upsetting to read of R's family waiting so long for the vaccine and then they ran out.
I so hope things get better as far as vaccine availability and they are able to get their protection.
That is interesting what Eileen commented that they are combining a booster with the flu shot in England.

We have been busy with a bit of home improvement and my blog reading has suffered.
I am going to read through and catch up with what you've been up to.

    1. It is upsetting, isn't it? Fortunately, R's sister was able to get her first dose on another day at a different place. Combining the booster shot with the flu vaccine sounds OK, but, it would be harder to assign any side effects to one or the other.

I am assuming you are getting the house painting done! Hope it is all coming along well!

  8. We have been painting the inside ourselves. Started with a bedroom. My gosh - if emptying a bedroom to paint it doesn't inspire you to declutter, I don't know what will!

    No outside painters yet:(

    1. Oh, yes, I've had my share of emptying out rooms to paint, remove carpets & refinish floors! :D

Sorry you are not able to get the outside painters, yet. Hope you can get it done before winter sets in!
