Sunday

Another bad air quality day.  I woke up feeling like I was coming down with something - my sinuses were blocked, my throat was scratchy, my eyes were tearing.  I had slept with the air purifier on, but, even so, I didn't feel too well, this morning.  I took my inhaler, and, eventually, took an antihistamine and put both air purifiers on.  Two of my friends, who don't have asthma, called to say they felt that the air was bad, themselves, ("putrid" was the word one of them used to describe it) and had scratchy throats.

I took it very easy, today.  I spoke with a couple of family members and friends.  Later, I practiced the piano and started to knit another scarf with a different shade of the novelty yarn.  Unfortunately, the stitches slipped off the needle after I had done quite a bit of the scarf and, this yarn is such, that I can't pick up dropped stitches.  So, I had to take out the whole thing and I will start, again, from the beginning, tomorrow.

Neighbor S called in the afternoon; her husband was going to the Armenian grocery store and did I need anything?  She is such a nice neighbor!  I asked for a packet of frozen parathas and some raisins.  Later, her daughter N brought over a package of raisins; apparently, the store was out of frozen parathas.  Oh, well.  I was happy to have the raisins.  Sometimes, when I am looking for a sweet snack, a handful of raisins satisfy that craving.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Kind neighbors

- Air purifiers and inhalers, etc.

- Phone calls from family and friends

- My yarn stash

- Being able to video chat with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was knitting.

Yesterday's prompt for the ink drawing was "bulky".  My daughter drew a self portrait of herself in a bulky sweater:

"Bulky"

Monday's To Do List will depend on how well I feel, but, I've listed the bare minimum:

- Take the trash cans to the curb

- Water the front garden

- Practice the piano

- Paperwork/filing

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. I'm sorry to hear that the poor air quality is affecting you so badly and home it improves soon. It sounds like you need a couple of quiet pamper days and take it easy.

It's Monday here and I don't have anything planned so will just potter about the house. I have to wait in for a friend who is moving some stuff in to my garage in advance of their house move - they are relocating back to this town as soon as the house purchase is complete.

    1. I'm feeling better, today, thank you. I had the air purifier on all night and, all morning. I haven't opened a window, yet, though!

That's very kind of your to offer storage space in your garage to your friends. Hope your Monday goes well.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I like to draw, but, I think my daughter is a better artist than I am! :)

  4. I love seeing your daughter's art work. If I had to draw bulky I could just draw a self portrait in a leotard!
Nice of your neighbors to help out with the Armenian store. I wish we had one of those here. I love going into different ethnic markets and browsing, buying and trying unfamiliar foods. At least I did love browsing. Blooming covid has changed all that.

    1. Thank you, Anne. Ha, ha, yes, you and me, both for bulky! :D

It was very nice of the neighbors to ask if I needed anything from that particular store. I do miss being able to go to the grocery store and look for bargains. But, I am grateful that I can stay at home for as long as I need to. :)

  5. Sorry to hear that the air quality is still so bad. It must be a real trial for everyone and especially for those of you who already have breathing issues.
I think your daughter is an amazing artist. I'm sure she could jump into any job doing artwork, but she is probably better off financially with her present career.

I've being vacuuming and washing floors and now after lunch I have an e-mail notifying that my book request has been filled at the library so I shall head out there.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I had the purifiers going all night and all morning. I am feeling better, today, and have turned the purifiers off to give them a little rest. But, I haven't opened a window yet!

Thank you, but, drawing is a fun hobby for her.

Sounds like you've had a busy morning; hope you get to enjoy the afternoon reading your book. :)

  6. Your daughter is great at drawing. She has captured an element of herself. Is the bad air still from the fires? Or? Good you have inhalers.

    1. Thank you, Ratnamurti. Yes, the bad air quality is from the fires. They are burning all up and down the state and there is one that is not too far from me. It is far enough that it is not a threat, but, near enough for the air quality to be bad.

  7. I am sorry your struggling with the air quality - I hope it improves soon for you and everyone in California.

You're daughter is a really good illustrator. I'm enjoying seeing her drawings of the prompts.

    1. Thank you, Debra. I'm feeling much better, today. Had the purifiers running all night and all morning. But, I haven't opened a window yet and probably won't until later in the evening, when, hopefully, the air quality will be better (unhealthy, right now, according to the air quality website that I check).

Thank you; some of the sketches she has done for the prompts have been based on anime characters. They are very good, too, although I haven't posted those.
