Doctor's Appointment on Friday

Today, I had my regular 3-month check up with the oncologist.  The appointment went well.  The tab test results were mostly good.  The only problem was, the mammogram results were not as conclusive as they could have been, because the radiology lab had been unable to obtain a copy of my previous mammogram to compare.  The oncologist's office submitted another request for the previous mammogram and I am to call them in two weeks to check on the status of obtaining it.

I also asked the doctor about bringing in more knitted hats to give the patients.  I didn't take any in with me, today, because I wasn't sure if they were accepting them still.  But, she said that, if I was making them, then, she knows me well enough to know that the hats will be safe to be worn by the patients.  I usually wash them before I take them to the clinic, anyway, and I will seal them in bags, afterwards.

After I came home, I had the rest of the stew for brunch and practiced the piano.

Later, I walked for 15 minutes.  I wanted to walk for 20 minutes, but, I got tired after 15 minutes!

In the evening, M came to tend to the garden and he planted the two moringa plants in the ground for me.  He was upset to find that both plants had the larva of Japanese beetles among their roots!  He basically had to pull apart the root ball and remove all the soil before planting the seedlings.  We are hoping we got all the grubs out - I wonder if that was why the moringa plants lost all their leaves, a couple of weeks ago.  They are starting to get new leaves, though, which is a good sign.

Still later in the evening, friend R called and we chatted on the phone for a bit.

Daughter sent in her drawing for today:  the prompt was "rip".

Day 23: Rip

Appropriate enough given how close we are to Halloween, I suppose.

Today, I am grateful for:

- The doctor's appointment went well
- Good blood test results for the most part
- A safe drive there and back
- The car got a good run
- M helping with the garden

Today's joyful activity was being in the garden.

Friday's To Do List:

- Doctor's appointment - DONE
- Clean the bathrooms - DONE
- Do one deep cleaning task - NOT DONE
- Tend to the garden with M - DONE

Plans for tomorrow include watering the newly planted moringa plants and sewing the binding on that unfinished quilt!

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. It's good to hear your appointment with the oncologist went well, although a shame you have to wait for final confirmation on the comparison of the mammograms.

It's also good that they will continue to accept the hats from you, which I'm sure will be appreciated by so many patients.

I do hope M was successful in removing all of the larva from the rootball of the plants. That's one problem you definitely don't want in your garden.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, Bless.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. The blood test results for the cancer markers were well within the range so, I am fairly confident that the mammogram results will be normal. But, there is always a possibility it might show something, so, I am hopeful they'll be able to get the comparison done, soon.

I, too, am glad they will accept the hats; I will knit up a few more so I will have a good stock of hats to take on my next visit. :)

We might have to spray some kind of insecticide, next spring, because the Japanese beetles apparently love to feast on peach trees and I don't want anything to damage my peach tree!

Thank you, Eileen. I hope you, too, have a good weekend. :)

    1. Hi Cherie. Thank you. I try to list at least five things I am grateful for, each day. It helps me to focus on what is good in my life than to focus on the not so good. :)

  3. Glad all went well and glad you found the larva of the Japanese beetles. That probably is why the plants lost their leaves. Hopefully they will do fine now. Have a great weekend Bless.

    1. Thank you, Martha. I hope we got all of the larva! I'd hate for it to spread to the other fruit trees. Hope you have a good weekend, too. :)

  4. I'm so glad your appointment went well and I hope you wont be waiting too long to hear the the results of your mammogram.
I chuckled at your previous post as, like you, I also feel the cold and have already put a wool blanket on top of my bed covers. X

    1. Thank you, Jules. Both M and my daughter were laughing at me (in a kindly manner) because I was all bundled up in sweaters and scarves, yesterday. My daughter even told me to put the heater on, but, I am determined to hold off on the heater until November. :)

    1. Thank you, Ratnamurti. It's a joy to be able to knit the hats and donate them. I have used up all my spare yarn, but, I have my daughter's permission to use her stash, and I can always order more yarn if I need to. :)

  6. That is good that you will be able to continue to donate the hats which are such a blessing to patients. It will be continue to be a nice easy project for you to pick up when you don't want a bigger one.

What strange weather we are having. Last night I couldn't sleep for listening to torrential rain and occasional huge gusts of wind. It made me think of those people who circumnavigate the world in small sailboats. I was glad to be in bed! In the morning we had occasional flakes of snow which quickly gave up each time, thank goodness. I hope you are feeling warmer right now!

    1. I was very happy when I was told that I could bring in the hats, Bushlady. Gives me an opportunity to help.

Sounds like you are having lots of changing weather conditions! I am still all bundled up! My neighbors are walking around in short sleeved T-shirts and I am wearing sweaters! :D

  7. It's lovely that they will still accept hats and you're still willing to make them. When Mum had cancer one of the things that hit her the hardest was losing all her hair.

I hope you are able to get conclusive results to the mammogram soon.

    1. Thank you, Sharon. I was very happy when they said they will accept the hats. Yes, losing ones hair can be hard to accept. I was never very comfortable in a wig and preferred to wear a knitted hat (not to mention, it was very cold without any hair!)
