Cool on Monday

Monday was a relatively cool day.  It was 72F inside the family room when I woke up and I was cold enough to dress in jeans and a long sleeved blouse, put on socks, and wear a poncho!  LOL!  The poncho came off around 11:00 a.m., but, the socks stayed on until late afternoon!  Guess who is NOT looking forward to winter?

I practiced the piano in the morning, but, S called around 11:30 a.m. and asked if we can reschedule the lesson to Tuesday afternoon, instead.  I was fine with that.

Today, I washed my bed sheets and a blanket, remade the bed, dusted the living room and dining area, watered the front garden, started the car, took the trash cans to the curb, cleaned the litter box. cleaned the fridge, cooked, and did the dishes.

Teriyaki Chicken and Noodles with Carrots and Cabbage

After dinner, I video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:

  • The cooler weather
  • Telephone calls, emails, and texts from family and friends
  • Working appliances
  • The car started without any problems
  • Technology which enables me to video chat with my daughter
Today's joyful activity was spending time in the garden

  1. I love teriyaki chicken and that looks so good. We're having a couple days of colder weather, also. It's definitely a nice change before it goes back into the 90's later this week.

    1. Thank you. Yes, it's supposed to get hot over the weekend and then, I'll probably say it's too hot to do anything! LOL.

  3. I've been wearing socks and a winter woolie indoors - it's only 19°C in my living room so I will use the electric fire tonight to take the chill off the room once I settle down for the evening.

I took some 'green' photos today (Tuesday) on the way home from meeting L and hope to take some more in the marina tomorrow. It's gardening day tomorrow so my new plants and the bulbs will be planted.

    1. That's about 66F; that's the temperature my daughter is having in Berkeley, and that's cold in my opinion. We are supposed to warm back up, this weekend, and I am looking forward to that! LOL.

Well done on getting started on green! I am a bit stumped, because all I can think of for green are plants! Hope you had a nice visit with L and the planting goes well, tomorrow. Have a lovely rest of the day, Eileen. :)

    2. Green plastic bags? bottles? washing up liquid? ornaments? clothing? Books? Jewellery? Wool? Crafting supplies?

    3. Thank you for the suggestions, Eileen. Actually, I did take two photos, today, and one of them is an ornament. I also considered the dish washing liquid (yes, it's green), but, didn't take a picture of it, yet.

  4. Am so impressed by how much you get done with your life, Bless. xx I've been babysitting my youngest grandchild, 6 months old, whilst her Mum dashes to the shops or gym. Such a joy for me.

  5. Your chicken and the noodle dish look delicious. I see we shared an activity today - bed changing and laundering the bedding. I have been catching up on other chores for 2 days, bathroom cleaning, dusting, and vacuuming. I swept the front porch and was annoyed by a puddle left by an incontinent squirrel.

No mice for two days, Yay! The traps are still set, no time to lapse vigilance. We had a lovely warm day but rain is forecast so we may have incomers.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. I didn't want to make a chicken curry, again, since I had chicken curry all last week. I thought the teriyaki chicken and noodles would make a nice change and it does. :)

Sounds like you've been busy keeping things clean and picked up, although, I'm sure you could do without incontinent squirrels on top of everything! At least you haven't had to deal with mice for a couple of days. Fingers crossed that there won't be any others after the rain.

  6. Today was hot, tomorrow will probably be hot and unless I have to go to the grocery store you will find me in a tank top, shorts and flip flops. Not a pretty sight but it's cool.

    1. We are supposed to get hot by the weekend, with it going up to 110F by Sunday. You might find me in a tank top, shorts, and barefoot, by the end of the week! :D

    1. Sure, Mandy, except...I don't really have a recipe. I just sort of made it up as I went - I sauteed the drumsticks in a little oil and added some chopped garlic and ginger, and some bell peppers that I had, some teriyaki sauce, a little salt and a little sugar. Then, added a little water and let it simmer to cook the chicken all the way through and the sauce thickened, a bit. I didn't measure quantities - a little this and a splash of that.

  8. Your chicken teriyaki looks very good. Did you reheat the leftover chicken cold or did you reheat it?

    1. Thank you, Debra. I suppose the chicken could have been eaten cold, but, I reheated it. :)
