Tuesday

Most days, I have my morning tea before I get dressed for the day.  On Tuesdays, however, my new routine is to get dressed before I have my tea because I want to be dressed and ready to bring in the trash cans as soon as they are emptied, before anyone else can dump their excess trash in my can!

Today, after I got dressed and had my tea, I replied to blog comments, read a few other blogs, watched the 11:00 a.m. news, and played a few online games.  I brought in the trash cans after they were emptied, made pancakes for brunch, washed the brunch dishes, and watched more news.  Later, I practiced the piano (today, I practiced the current pieces and then, went back and replayed some of the old pieces so I don't forget them).

In the afternoon, I watched more news, read more blogs, and played more games and the afternoon slipped into evening!  My daughter called after she finished her work for the day, and we chatted a bit.  She usually calls me to let me know she's done with work and tells me about her day and I tell her about my day.

After we ended the call, I put away the laundry, broke down some of the cardboard boxes that grocery deliveries had come in, put them down as weed barrier in the side yard, watered the back and the front garden, watered the indoor plants, and dusted the family room and my bedroom.

Later, friend R called and we chatted a bit.  I had leftovers for dinner, tried to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower (tried last night, too, but, no luck), watched today's Temple service online, and video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:

  • My daughter
  • What I was able to accomplish
  • Being able to watch/listen to the daily Temple service online
  • My mother insisting on buying the piano for us
  • Time spent in the garden

Today's joyful activity was playing the piano.

    1. Thank you, Jules. You might end up with your fingers stuck in your ears, midway, though! LOL. I make mistakes with my playing and the piano is very slightly out of tune! :D

  2. I'm waiting to hear about my car (it's 10am on Wednesday) and then I will do some filing, and a bit more research on the family tree. In between I'll finish off sewing the name tags on the school uniforms.

You should like you are a bit of a news addict. I've been avoiding ours this week - it's all a bit depressing and I wanted a break from it.

How's the piano practice coming on now you are using pedals as well?

    1. Sounds like you'll be busy today. It's kind of you to offer to sew on name tags on the school uniforms. One would think they'd have some iron on tags for that. I don't recall sewing any name tags on my daughter's uniforms when she attended a school that required them (after which she transferred to a school that didn't require uniforms).

Oh, I am definitely a news addict! Local news, national news, international news - I watch it all!

The piano practicing is coming along well, I think, although it's one more thing to remember to do! One of the pieces of music didn't come with preprinted pedal instructions; S told me where to add the pedal and I wrote it down. :)

    2. You can get iron on ones but they don't last. By the end of the first term they'll be coming loose and irritate the wearer. Sewing them on means they last as long as the uniform. It's just one way I can help out the family x

  4. I'm looking forward to see what quilt you will be working on next. How many do you have started that you haven't finished? It seems like you've been doing a pretty good job at finishing them up.

    1. I've three quilts in progress, Live and Learn. Two of them just need to have the layers put together and bound. I've been procrastinating on that! As I've mentioned before, the fun part for me is piecing the top. Once that is done, I lose interest! The third one ("grandmother's flower garden", composed of hexagons) is at the stage of being sewn together. I am hand sewing that one.

  5. Isn't it something when you have to change your routine because you can't trust that your trash can will remain empty for you to bring in? You must be developing quite a repertoire with your piano playing now!
It's a sunny day and the washing line is full! Our local librarian has just phoned to say that the books I requested can be accessed at the porch so I am off to get them. We are fortunate that we still can have plenty to read.

    1. It's happened only twice (others putting their stuff into my empty bin), but, I don't particularly want to store their trash for a week between collections! If they need an additional bin, all they have to do is call the city's sanitation department and request a new bin - as far as I know, there isn't an additional charge for a second trash can.

Sounds like you've had a productive morning! Enjoy your new library books. :)

  6. I wanted to watch the night sky too, but I was so tired, that I fell asleep very quickly. Too bad I missed it, maybe I would see something interesting. Have a lovely day☺

  8. People think it is okay to dump their trash in other peoples' cans? Really? So glad you are enjoying the piano - music is so good for the soul.

    1. Yes, unfortunately, they do! I wouldn't mind it so much if they put their stuff in my can before the trash gets collected; I usually have very little in my trash can, anyway. But, when they dump their stuff in it AFTER the trash is collected, I am not very happy about it.

I am enjoying the piano playing. I just wish I played more when my mother was alive. She would have loved it.
