Restful Sunday

Cat Naps (The white knitted boa-style scarf is his "blankie" that he carries around!)

Guess who stayed up till 5:00 a.m.?  It was hardly worth going to sleep at that hour of the morning, but, I went to sleep and slept till 10:30 a.m.  I thought I might take a nap in the afternoon, but, I didn't.  Dancer did, though!

I spent a relaxed day, today.  Neighbor T's daughter K called in the morning, about some plans for T's upcoming birthday.  There won't be any party, as such, but, K would like to present her with cards from family and friends.  I will definitely make her a card, but, I am also thinking of making her a small gift - a birthday banner or something perhaps.  One year, I made her a small wreath with sunflowers (her favorite flowers) and she still has it on her door!

Later, T called for our usual weekly Sunday chat.  Afterwards, I called R to check on her.

It was hot, again, today, too.  In the afternoon, the temperature in the family room went up to 86F again, and I turned on the fan.  And I ate some of my banana-peach frozen dessert.  This time, it was frozen firmly and I found it to be a very refreshing treat.

Later in the evening, I practiced the piano and watered the front garden.  It was cooler in the garden than inside the house, by then, so, I opened the windows to air out the house and get the house cooled off (down to 80F).  I'm so glad I got the new window screens put in, last year; I am now able to open more windows to help cool off the house, faster, without having to worry about Dancer escaping.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A restful, relaxed day
- The new window screens
- Water for the garden
- Having a garden
- Phone calls with friends and video chatting with my daughter

My joyful activity today was relaxing and taking it easy!

A Little Detail from the Quilt

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday and the rest of the week?

  1. Dancer knows how to spend a Sunday. I'm looking forward to a playful Monday, as I was good about tending to my chores this weekend (because all the days run together anyway.) Although you have reminded me that my fridge could use a good clear-out and cleaning too.

    1. He does know how to spend his days relaxing! When he's not helping me with a project, that is! LOL! I was looking through your blog, last night to find inspiration for a simple birthday card; all your cards are so pretty and professional looking! A playful Monday sounds good to me! I hope you have a lovely day.

  2. It nice to have a relaxing day then and again. I had to work all day, so it wasn't as relaxing as it might have been, but not too bad all and all. I look forward to seeing the rest of the quilt.

    1. Does it feel different to start going to work in person, again? I hope you got to enjoy at least some of your weekend and there will be time to relax over the week. All will be revealed, later in the week. :)

  3. My Sunday was really quiet and today is housework day although I'm not getting much done - too many interruptions from phone calls and messages.

I hope you manage to get all your medical appointments sorted out.

    1. Hope you were able to accomplish at least some of what you wanted to get done, today; the rest can wait until tomorrow, I'm sure.

I called and confirmed the oncologist appointment; now, I need to schedule an appointment for the lab work! I spend months without going anywhere (or, at least, not going into a building) and now, I need to go into an enclosed space twice in one week!

  4. There is a reason people refer to them as "cat naps". Dancer looks so comfy and completely resigned to sleep in his blankie.

I love your embroidered detail on the quilt. What a terrific idea.

Birthdays and anniversaries are difficult during this year of covid and people are coming up with some terrific ideas for making the day a little more special. I like K's idea of a card campaign. It doesn't have to be a party or get-together to mark the day. Just knowing that others send their regards and are thinking of the recipient on their birthday, makes one feel special and honoured. I hope that many, many people respond to the request. Have a great Monday, Bless.

    1. Right now, he's napping on the coffee table!

Yes, the card campaign is a good idea, isn't it? K wants us to mail all the cards to her and she will put them all in a basket to give to her mother. I like that - a basket of well wishes! :)

Thank you, Susan; hope you are having a good day, too.

  6. I can see why Dancer loves his "Blankie"! It looks perfect for him to nap on.
I had a leisurely walk up the road to the mailbox on Sunday afternoon since I hadn't been since Thursday, and I walked a way along two other roads at the intersection, looking at the plants and butterflies. At one point a Mourning Cloak butterfly decided to settle on my finger and rode along with me for a while!
We decided to have a takeout for supper so it was indeed a restful day.
Today I have done a little laundry, some vacuuming including some upholstery, and I switched out the peanut feeder near the deck for the larger one at the end of our front porch. This caused some consternation for a squirrel who regarded the smaller one as his own property and was trying desperately to figure out a way to get to it! Eventually he did go to the larger one by the deck and was happy that he could attack it while upright, as well as by hanging upside down.

    1. Oh, how wonderful to have a butterfly hitch a ride on your finger! Lucky you!

I'm glad you were able to get takeout for supper and had a restful day.

Sounds like you had a very productive day, today. Too funny about the squirrel and the switched feeders, but, sounds like he figured it all out! LOL.

  8. Dancer looks so happy - how cute that he has his own blankie that he carries around.

It's nice that neighbor T's daughter thought to organize the art campaign.
I'm sure she will be touched and please with the thoughtfulness.

    1. He's a silly cat, I tell him, but that scarf is now "his" blankie and he gets very anxious when I take it away to wash it, from time to time!

Yes, I hope neighbor T will receive many cards to open on her birthday. I thought it was a really nice idea! It's one of those 'mile stone' birthdays that need a little extra celebrating. :)
