Productive Thursday

Thursday was another productive day.  At least, the afternoon and evening were productive!  I slept most of the morning!!

After I woke up, I replied to blog comments, visited and commented on a few other blogs, had leftover milkrice for brunch, and posted my meal plan for the week.

Later in the afternoon, I made room in the spare bedroom to store the boxes of toilet paper, vacuumed the house. practiced the piano, watered the garden, planted some succulents cuttings, did the dishes, mopped the kitchen floor, cleaned the litter box, and went through the file of paper - most of it was for filing, although I recycled a few papers.

I got hungry around tea time, so, I had a paratha with kebab curry for a snack, with my cup of tea.  Later, I had rice and curries for dinner.  Snacks were a granola bar and almonds, because I didn't make the fruit salad I had planned to have, today!

I also put in a grocery order for pick up, tomorrow evening.  I won't know if I'll get everything I ordered until the store puts my order together and, this time, I authorized substitutions if needed.  I have plenty of room in the fridge (my fresh produce drawers are practically empty), but, I'll have to find some room in the freezer!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Waking up, alive, this morning
- Being able to stock up
- A productive day
- Water for the garden
- Video chatting with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was ordering groceries for pick up.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Vacuum - DONE
- Clean the kitchen - DONE
- Water the garden, front and back - DONE
Load of laundry, if needed (Did on Wednesday)
- Paperwork/filing - go through one file folder that's on my desk - DONE

Friday's To Do List:
- Clean the bathrooms
- Do one deep cleaning task - Scrub the stove top/under the burners
- Errands, if any - Grocery pick up
- Have M tend to the garden

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. Wow, you certainly fitted a lot in ... well done!

I'm in the middle of meal planning so will carry on with that today and place an order for delivery with a supermarket. See my response on your previous post which explains the meal planning.

Apart from that it will be a quiet day at home. It's the final choir quiz tonight which I'm looking forward to but apart from that I'll just potter about doing bits and bobs.

    1. Thank you, Eileen. It takes me awhile to wake up and get going in the mornings, these days, but, afternoons tend to be rather productive. :)

Yes, I saw what you had written about meal planning. Sounds good to me. I am currently not meal planning with a specific goal, such as healthier eating or weight loss, but, maybe I should! I haven't gained any weight in the last 3 months, but, I haven't lost any either.

A quiet day at home sounds good to me, but, then, I like quiet days and staying at home! :) Good luck with the final choir quiz, tonight. :)

  2. You were so productive today. Are you still enjoying cooler temperatures? I find I get more done on cooler days. We have had temps over 30 every day for over a week, and apparently the forecast for July is for "much above" normal temperatures. We were lucky enough to receive a very little rain yesterday around supper. It got very dark, very windy, some thunder, and a little rain. Someone, somewhere got a deluge I'm sure. Needless to say, I'm not doing much except that this week I have more than enough Trivia questions for this Saturday's game. I haven't completely wasted my time. Ha,ha.

    1. Thank you, Susan. I sort of had to push myself to be productive, but, I didn't want to put off any more cleaning projects, because the schedule doesn't work as smoothly when I procrastinate. My goal is to get the active cleaning to under one hour, each day. Yesterday, the vacuuming took 30 minutes and the mopping barely took 10 minutes. (but, persuading myself that yes, I really want to mop the floor before I put down the newly washed kitchen rug took much longer than 10 minutes!). I did the majority of the paperwork, sorting through the file, while watching news, but, the filing took another 5 minutes or so. Watering the garden, since I did it with a hose, rather than the sprinklers, took about one hour, but, I don't look on it as "cleaning". I recite my prayers, meditate, and just contemplate things when I am in the garden.

Yes, it is still cooler than normal for us. Outside is probably around 80F, but, my house tends to be cool. I just checked and it is 70F (21C) indoors. To me, that is cool. In fact, I had on a knitted wool shawl when I woke up, this morning! :D

  3. You have had a productive week in general I think. Your house must be looking good!

Good luck with your grocery order. I hope they have all the things on your list.

    1. Yes, it's been a good week for getting things done around the house. The house does look tidy, if one is willing to overlook the sewing machine up on the dining table and empty boxes in the family room (waiting to be broken down and taken to the side yard to be put down as a weed barrier along the path I am trying to create!) :D The sewing machine needs to stay up because I plan to finish a quilt this weekend. The boxes should be broken down, today.

I hope that I'll get most of the items I ordered. I'll find out, later, today! :)

  4. That's good that you are keeping up with the house and garden and other stuff. I hope your grocery order goes well.
I went grocery shopping today and yet again managed to get in without waiting. I also picked up my prescription and was happy that they have gone back to supplying 100 pills instead of just 30. It's still so hot but we did eat lunch in our gazebo. I read my book this afternoon and now I have taken in the laundry from the line and it's time to make something for supper!

    1. I'm trying, Bushlady. Afternoons and early evenings seem to be my most productive times, so I am trying to get the housework done then. I wait until evening to do the garden.

I'm glad your were able to get your grocery shopping done without having to wait and that your medications are now becoming available in larger quantity. I've been getting a 90 day supply of medications and that hasn't changed, so far, but, I heard on the news, the other day, that there might be a shortage of medications because so much of our medications are imported. I am not sure what that might mean, but, yesterday, I took inventory of what I have. I have at least a 30 day supply of all my medications, still; hopefully, the next lot of refills will also be the usual 90 days supply. I guess we just have to take things one day at a time and hope for the best. :)

I wish you lived closer. I could fill your crisper with zucchini!

  6. Your day was really productive.
    I don’t remember what I did on Thursday. 😁
I forget the day when I’m home. The other day I remembered to put the trash bin by the curb only because I heard the neighbor moving his bin. Even then I checked the calendar to make sure.

    1. Thank you, Nil; I'm sure that you, too, were productive between online classes, grading (do they submit their work online for you to grade?), housework, and gardening. Since I retired, I don't always remember the date, but, I do know the day of the week. Blogging daily helps, too! Otherwise, I can't remember, anything! :D
