Still Recovering on Sunday

New Sweater Front in Progress

I woke up feeling a lot better, this morning, but, my poor daughter had a bad night and isn't feeling well, at all, today.   She cancelled her plans for today and has been resting on the sofa, all day.

I cooked milk rice and seeni sambol, which is a spicy onion relish, for brunch, today.  The jar of seeni sambol I had bought from the Sri Lankan store was over, so I made it from scratch - sliced onions, sauteed in oil with chili powder, Maldive fish pieces, curry leaves, pandan leaves, cloves, cinnamon, and other spices.  After brunch, I did the dishes and two loads of laundry.  Then, I did a bit of mending and knitting (the new sweater front is almost done).  However, by late afternoon/early evening, my energy ran out and I started feeling very tired and unwell.  So, I took two Tylenols and rested.

Although there was leftover food in the fridge, I didn't feel like having any of it for dinner.  So, I ordered some pasta, breadsticks, and hot wings and had it delivered.  It was a bit of an extravagance, but, I didn't feel up to driving to go pick it up.

Daughter and I are planning to have an early night, tonight.  She flies back to Berkeley, tomorrow.  I've urged her to take a day off from work, on Tuesday, to rest a bit more before going back to work.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Feeling a little better
- Daughter was able to rest, today
- Food delivery
- The  budget allowing me to splurge on having food delivered, occasionally
- A day of rest and recovery

Monday's To Do List:
- Take daughter to the airport
- Take the trash cans to the curb
- Change my bed sheets
- Do a load of laundry

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

    1. Thank you, Angela. Seems like I take longer to recover from these illnesses these days. I'm doing a central cable, just to give a little interest to the front. We used to call them "jerseys" back in Sri Lanka, but, here, they are called sweaters.

    1. Thank you, Andrea. I'm feeling almost back to normal, but, my daughter is still ill. I've told her to take tomorrow off from work and rest. Yes, she's an adult, but, I'm still telling her what to do! :D

  3. hope Monday will be a day when both of you feel better-it does seem the 'coughing, blowing, sneezing season' has arrived early this year ... I went to town last week and shops were like 'plague wards'- this was a bad time for the two of you to be ill though-
your daughter looked absolutely beautiful- her friend certainly chose lovely dresses (sometimes I think bridesmaids' dresses are a case of 'bride's revenge') ... and the hair arrangement looked perfect-hopefully, even though she was getting ill, she was able to enjoy the happiness and excitement at the wedding-
as always, my best wishes your way-

    1. Thank you, Barb. I am feeling much better, today; almost back to normal. My daughter is still recovering. She said she was not the only one who was not feeling 100% among the wedding party! Two other bridesmaids were getting over their colds and coughs and the bride had thrown out her back, the day before! The bridesmaids could choose one of two dress patterns; daughter chose this particular one because it wasn't too low cut. :)

  4. I do hope your daughter was feeling a lot better for her flight back to Berkeley, as traveling is not fun when you are poorly. I hope you will both be free of colds, etc., very soon.

Today I have to knuckle down and clean house, and I took the laptop into the bathroom so I could listen to a talk while cleaning! It isn't overly warm out but we don't need the wood/electric furnace on during the day as it is dry out and doesn't feel chilly the way it does during damp weather.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. She said she felt a little better and I just got a phone call saying her flight landed, safely. She now has an hour long journey by subway and either a walk or a bus ride home, from the subway station (she often walks the mile or so, rather than wait for the bus). I hope her energy lasts until she gets home!

Good idea to take the laptop with you when cleaning the bathroom! It is a warm day, here; I've opened the windows to air out the house and am doing laundry.

  5. Glad you are feeling back to normal! Now I hope your daughter feels better. It is hard to fly when you don't feel great.

    1. Thank you, Anne. Yes, not too fun to travel when feeling ill. But, she just called to say she landed, safely; now she has a long subway ride home and either walk or take a bus from there to her apartment. Poor thing will be exhausted by the time she gets to her apartment.

  6. If you can't treat yourself when you're sick, when can you? Good call on having the food delivered.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. I always feel bad about spending money on what I consider to be indulgences (after all, there was food in the fridge), but, it is OK to splurge, every now and then. Daughter and I enjoyed the meal, yesterday. Plus, I have some pasta leftover for my dinner and I sent the rest of the hot wings and 2 breadsticks home with my daughter, as well as two nectarines, so she has a snack when she gets to her apartment (she wasn't hungry enough to eat anything, in the morning, before she left).

    1. Thank you, Nil. She was feeling a little bit better, this morning, she said. She had a safe flight back; she has a subway ride and a bus ride or a walk, after that, to get to her apartment. I sent some leftover food home with her, so she'll have something to eat when she gets in.

  9. Hi Bless, I'm sorry to hear that you and your daughter have felt under the weather recently. Sometimes ordering food is such a treat. You spend so little on groceries; I am always amazed at you totals. That sweater looks fantastic! I love the cables...

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. I am feeling much better, today, but, my daughter is still recovering. I can't remember when I last had food delivered! I usually order and then, to go pick it up. But, yesterday, I just didn't feel up to driving. The occasional splurge is OK, right?
