Midweek on Wednesday

Not only midweek, but, mid-month, too!  Can you believe that we are now in the second half of October?

It was another nice, warm day, today, but we had a bit of a cloud cover, so it wasn't very sunny.  I spent a relaxed morning, responding to blog comments and making some phone calls.

In the afternoon, I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen.  It's funny, but, I always feel the need to clean the kitchen before I start cooking for a gathering!  So, I washed the fronts of some of the lower kitchen cabinets, scrubbed under the stove burners, cleaned the counters, and swept the floor.  Now, I get to cook and get the kitchen messy, again!  LOL.

I also put away a load of laundry from yesterday, did another load, and hung it up to dry.

In the evening, I pulled out one of my many unfinished knitting projects and started on it.  It is a sweater I started knitting some time ago and put aside for one reason or another (most probably to knit another sweater with newer yarn!).  I had knitted the front and the back of the sweater, already.  Today, I started on the sleeves.

Later in the evening, I spoke with cousin P, friend R, and, of course, my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A clean kitchen in which to cook
- The dishwasher and washing machine
- Electricity to run the appliances
- Chatting with my daughter
- Friend R will help with the prayer gathering preparations on Saturday

Today's joyful activity was knitting and listening to music.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Clean out the fridge
- Make the grocery shopping list
- Shop for the non-grocery supplies I still need
- Do a little more cleaning

How was your day?  What are your plans for Thursday?  Do you, too, have unfinished craft projects?  Or, do you finish one project before you start on another?

  1. I haven't cleaned the fronts of my kitchen cabinets in a very long time. I'm having people over on Saturday. Maybe I should clean them today.

    1. My kitchen cabinets are white. It was my choice to have white cabinets, but they show every drip and splatter! :D

    2. Mine are a darker wood that hides a variety of spills. One advantage of dark cabinets.

    3. Darker cabinets do have that advantage, don't they? When I first bought the house, there were dark, varnished, wooden cabinets. I could never get them to look clean! Eventually, I painted them white. But, when I remodeled the kitchen, I put in new, white cabinets. I like them, but, they require constant cleaning!

  2. I am terrible about having multiple projects 'on the go' - usually because I stop to help someone else finish their thing, and my stuff is pushed aside. Currently the dining room is clear of crafting and I am determined not to get anything else out before we go away next Friday [although I DO have a baby cardigan on the needles, and will take that away with me to finish next week] I even succumbed to BUYING 3 greetings cards this week, as I couldn't face getting all my papercrafting equipment out to make them!

    1. I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with many "works in progress"! I really don't want to start any new projects until I've finished what I've started, but, I think I will always have a knitting project to work on in the evenings (I prefer to sew during the daylight as I see better, then).

I hope you post pictures of the baby cardigan when you have finished it. :)

  3. Yikes. The month is slipping away. Autumn is definitely coming here, the leaves are changing and the winds are a-blowing. Sounds like it won't take you long to get the new sweater done. Looking forward to seeing a photo.

    1. Yes, the month is just racing by! It's still summer, here (which is fine with me as I prefer things to be on the warmer side). No, this sweater won't take too long to finish. It's just a plain knit, in a cotton blend type of yarn.

Hope you are enjoying the fall colors and keeping warm!

  4. It's wonderful to have such a clean kitchen. I need to mop my floors and clean the counters and cupboards. I usually finish my knitting projects, but I do have four going right now. Not a good idea for me. I am working on the alpaca blanket, though. I prefer to do one at a time. I got sidetracked when my dad was ill. I needed something simple.

    1. I still need to mop the floor and clean the stove hood/vent! I might just wipe the top of the hood and leave the rest of it until after Saturday's gathering.

I can understand the need for something simple to work on when other things are going on in our lives. A blanket is a good such project. :)

  5. I do that in the kitchen and then don’t feel like cleaning it again when I’m done

    1. Summoning up enough enthusiasm to clean something you've already cleaned not too long ago is hard, isn't it? But, I'll want to clean the kitchen, again, before the first week in December, when I will have another prayer gathering. :)

  6. I’m planing to deep clean the kitchen during winter break.

Have you knitted summer tops, Bless? I’d like to crochet a top, but I’m not sure what type of yarn to use. Wool is not a good choice in Florida. 😊

    1. Deep cleaning the kitchen is a good winter break project, but don't forget you are supposed to rest and relax during your break, as well!

Yes, I've knitted and crocheted summer tops. I use cotton yarn or a blend. Crochet thread would be good, too. My mother used to crochet blouses with crochet thread.

    2. Thanks Bless.
I’ll buy nice cotton yarn to make a simple top. 😊
