Wednesday: More Grocery Shopping and Errands

Today, I did office work most of the morning.  In the afternoon, I decided to take a break and run a few errands, especially since the car needed to be driven a bit!  I was so happy when it started without any problems!  LOL.

First, to the pharmacy.  I had a prescription refill waiting to be picked up and I needed to buy more calcium and Vitamin D pills (my doctor had told me to take these supplements to take care of my bones as the anti-hormone pill I will be taking has an adverse effect on bones!).

Then, I went to the dollar store next to the pharmacy.  I wanted to buy a white plastic table cover and some cupcake/muffin liners.  Bought both.  The table cover is for when I have my almsgiving in December - I put it over the white table cloth to prevent any spills from staining the table cloth.

Finally, to the grocery store located in the same shopping center.  I needed to buy some non-grocery items, as well as a head of lettuce and a cucumber.  The lettuce at the ethnic store didn't look too good, yesterday, and the cucumbers were over-priced!  I also wanted to see if they had any trout on sale, but they didn't have any trout at all!  Instead, I bought a piece of beef round steak.  I know I said I wasn't going to buy any meat in September and eat what I had in my freezer, but the only beef I have in the freezer is ground beef and I didn't want ground beef!  LOL.  I still don't have much of an appetite, so I am going with whatever looks appealing.  I cooked it for my dinner tonight and there's enough left over for another couple of meals.  I also bought another can of pasta sauce to add to the pantry, since I had all those boxes of pasta and only one can of pasta sauce!

1 can pasta sauce = $1.00
1 cucumber = $.34

September grocery budget = $75 + $2.95 carried over from July/August = $77.95

Spent so far = $10.66
Balance left in budget = $67.29

Wednesday's To Do List:

- Office work - DONE
- Pharmacy - DONE
- Dollar store (adjoining pharmacy) - DONE
- More grocery shopping - DONE
- Put away laundry - DONE
- Do another load of laundry
- Clean both bathrooms
- Give Dancer his flea meds.
- Pay gas bill - DONE

I didn't do any of the cleaning, today.  I woke up feeling a bit achy and even took a Tylenol.  I don't know if I am coming down with something or just did too much and got too tired.  So, I took it easy, today.  The bathrooms aren't bad; they can wait another day.

Thursday's To Do List:
- Office work
- Do a load of laundry
- Clean both bathrooms
- Give Dancer his flea meds.
- Take used printer ink cartridges for recycling
- Vacuum hallway and daughter's bedroom

Breakfast was a banana.  Lunch was a chicken curry sandwich.  I had some grapes for dessert.  White champagne grapes are usually very sweet and my favorite type of grapes, but today, they tasted bitter to me and I couldn't finish what I served myself.  Dinner was part of the steak, along with some corn and broccoli:

Dinner
After lunch, I took a nap!  Later in the evening, I had phone calls from two of my friends and an aunt and I video chatted with my daughter (although the video part didn't work that well - daughter could see me, but I couldn't see her!)

Today, I am grateful for:

- the car started without any problems
- another comfortable day, temperature-wise
- afternoon naps
- phone calls from family and friends
- chatting with my daughter

How was your Wednesday?

  1. I was teasing you about buying meat but you are absolutely right: when your appetite is up and down as yours has been, go with what you feel like eating that day and if it means buying something else than what you have, so be it. I hope you feel better today, Bless.

    1. Thank you, Nathalie. I do feel better, today. :) It's weird; there's no accounting for my wanting a particular thing to eat. I had beef curry in the fridge, but I didn't want it. The thought of a steak, however, was appealing. Hope you have a lovely day, today.

  2. I'm glad that your car started without a problem. That steak looks very nice indeed. I agree, now you're coming back to strength after your journey you need to listen to your body for what you should eat. As for cleaning, it happens as it happens in my experience! x

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. In general, I tend to prefer chicken to beef, but when I do eat beef, I seem to like it as a steak over curry!

Yes, the cleaning will happen, eventually. I'd still like to have a routine in place, but it might take a couple of weeks to establish it. And maybe some rooms might not need a weekly cleaning, either. It's just that I have not been able to clean things for quite some time and things got a bit beyond just messy.

How are you feeling today? Is everything OK?

  3. You were busy! And for sure, with your appetite being touch and go, you definitely need to pay attention and take advantage when something sounds good or you have a craving.

    1. Yes, I've been trying to tempt my appetite, lately. Problem is, sometimes, after I buy something or cook it, I no longer want it!
