Salad Day!

My daughter sent me a picture of her lunch, today:

Daughter's Lunch
Doesn't it look lovely?  Romaine lettuce, radish, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, and almonds.  Inspired by her lunch, I, too, made a salad for my lunch!  Iceberg lettuce, carrots, cucumber, strawberries, and toasted cashews, with Catalina salad dressing:

My Lunch
Her picture looks so much better than mine!  She said she used a filter and I have no idea how to do that.

My dinner wasn't quite as healthy as lunch, though:

Dinner
Spaghetti pasta mixed with leftover cream of chicken soup, sliced sauted chicken breast, green peas, some bacon crumbled, and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.

Fresh guavas from my cousin's tree for dessert:

Guavas
Besides preparing meals and eating, I did my office work, today, and submitted this week's assignments.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Another cooler day (today's high was only 82F; we'll be going up to 99F on Sunday)
- Healthy lunches
- Getting my work done
- Fresh guavas
- Chatting with daughter, cousin, and aunt

How was your Friday?

  1. That all looks lovely. I've never had a guava, will have to see if there are any in our stores so I can try one.

I can't do anything with a camera apart from take a photograph. Mark has a 'proper' one with filters and a lens for this, that and the other but I much prefer my point and shoot! I like to keep things simple :) xx

    1. I take all my pictures with my phone, these days. Before that (before I had a phone with a camera feature), I took my blog pictures with my laptop!

If you have any ethnic food stores in your area, check those for guavas. One rarely finds them in regular supermarkets.

  2. I'm very glad to see you're both eating well and the fact that things have settled down for both of you has really helped, I think. Just a FYI on the flax seeds. They're not digestible unless they're ground. I sprinkle about a tablespoon of ground flax seeds on my cereal or in my yogurt every morning for breakfast and I credit them for giving me perfect lab test results and no evidence of heart disease, along with the other superfoods I try to concentrate on, like blueberries, almonds, cinnamon, etc. Colorful fruits and vegetables. For example, romaine is much better than iceberg lettuce.

    1. Thanks, Marylynn. I will pass on the info. about the ground flax seeds to my daughter. I don't think she knows that; I certainly didn't. :)

  3. Hi Bless, all your meal pictures look very yummy to me! You can probably a photo app on your phone that allows you to edit your pictures, add filters, etc. I have several on mine but I'm usually too lazy to use them. I do use a free program that I downloaded to my computer that's called PhotoScape, I really like it and I find editing photos on my laptop easier than on my phone. Also, you can turn your phone sideways to take pictures, usually the photos will fit a little better that way, I find. If you have an iPhone, you can select "square" (to the right of "photo" in your camera app) and it'll take a square photo like your daughter's.

    1. Thanks,Nathalie. No iphone, just a "go-phone" or some such thing; very simple because I am technologically challenged! :D I had a flip-phone until earlier this year. I'm terrified of trying out the different features because then I won't know how to reset anything if I mess it up! My daughter has set it up so I can take a picture and send it to my email account, text her and one cousin, make a phone call if needed, etc. Just the basics. I still cut off people when I try to answer the phone when they call me, though! :D But I very bravely clicked on something after I read your comment, and I do have some filters, so I played around a bit. This is all magic, to me!

    3. Thanks, Judy. I am intimidated by technology! I remember laughing at my mother because she was hesitant around new TVs, etc., but now, it seems I've turned into my mother! It's my daughter's turn to laugh at me and shake her head! :D
