Flowers on Saturday

My gardener friend brought me flowers from his garden, this morning.  A gardenia and roses.  They look lovely on the living room mantel and perfume the whole room:

He also brought me this lovely red rose; the other rose in the vase is from my garden:

More Roses

We found a plant growing in the middle of the back garden, which my gardener thinks is a mimosa plant.  I suppose the seed was dropped by a bird or maybe the wind blew it?  He dug it up and planted it in a pot for now.  We will plant it in a different area of the garden, later, when it is bigger.  Any plant that volunteers to grow in my garden under present conditions will be quite welcome!

Later, I made waffles for brunch and I had them with chicken curry.  I took a picture of my brunch to post here.  Then, daughter sent me a picture of her lunch and I deleted my picture!

Daughter's Lunch

Spaghetti squash, broccoli, chicken and bok choy stir-fry, bell pepper confetti.  I told daughter that she needs to come down and cook for me!

I felt a little tired, today, and took a nap in the afternoon.  As a result, I didn't do any housework, except doing the dishes and wiping down the kitchen counters.  The kitchen counters have stayed clear, I am happy to say.  Later in the evening, I watered the front garden.

Today, I am grateful for:

- The gift of lovely flowers
- A volunteer mimosa plant
- Phone call from my sister
- Phone call from aunt
- Video chatting with daughter

I hope I will feel more energetic tomorrow.

How was your Saturday?

    1. Thank you, Jules. Last week, I pushed myself to complete my work assignments, thinking I was behind, when, in fact, I was ahead! I think that's why I felt so tired, yesterday. I tend to forget that I've just been through a major illness and am still recovering. I need to continue to take it easy for a bit more, instead, I think that because I've finished treatment, I am back to normal and overdo things.

Hope all is well with you.

  2. I believe weekends are for resting, napping, and rejuvenating, so you are doing well to cook meals and clean up after yourself. It is wonderful to keep in touch with so many of your family. Beautiful flowers. Your house must smell divine.

    1. Thank you, Susan. That's exactly what weekends should be! My family has been so supportive of me during my illness; I am blessed to have them. The flowers are lovely! I have to keep them out of Dancer's reach because there's nothing he likes better than to pull them out of the vase and try to eat them!

Hope you are having a restful day and that everything goes well with your husband's appointment, tomorrow.

  3. Thank you Bless. I am also hoping for a good day tomorrow.

What is it with some cats? My Brucie (short for Bruce Willis) also can't stand me having any fresh flowers in the house. He does the same thing as Dancer. He doesn't try to eat them. He just pulls them out of the vase, usually by tipping it over and spilling the water and contents onto the floor. I have given up bringing my garden flowers indoors.

    1. I had no idea your cat was named after Bruce Willis. That's hysterical! Well, Bruce climbed that tower in the first Die Hard movie so you brought it upon yourself to have him climb on your furniture to pull the flowers out of the vases :) That whole story is so funny!

    1. Thank you, Judy. It was in the upper 90s here, today! But it is supposed to cool down to the mid 80s, next week. :)

  5. Nothing original to add to everyone else's comments! The roses are lovely, I love how nice they look in your little vase. How delightful to be able to enjoy fresh and fragrant flowers indoors when it's so hot and dry outside.

I like the picture of the salad too. I like pictures of food :)

I hope you have a great week, Bless. Don't forget to rest.
