It's been a long day, today. Today, we spent the day moving daughter into her new apartment. All the furniture and most of her stuff. She and I did all the moving by ourselves, and things went fine, except for when we got the sofa stuck in the elevator! We managed to get it in OK, but couldn't get it out! Fortunately, one of the workmen renovating the apartments saw us (he was waiting to get into the elevator) and he helped us (earlier, we had been told by the rental office that the workmen couldn't help us move the furniture, but he volunteered.)
The sofa and the bed were the 2 big items. After that, the rest of the furniture - coffee table, 3 chests of drawers, the TV table, bookcase, desk, etc. weren't too difficult, but a lot of pushing and pulling, even with the sliders to help the items move over carpeting in the corridors. And all the boxes! We emptied most of the cabinets, but there's a bit more to be done tomorrow.
After we move the rest of the items, we will need to put stuff away! We did a little unpacking and putting away, but not all. And, of course, daughter can't put away her clothes till the closet rods are installed. So, things are still a bit of a mess in the new apartment. Hopefully, we can get everything done, tomorrow.
And then...we get to do it all over again, in approximately 2 months' time, when daughter former apartment is renovated! Yes, she will move back into her old apartment again, and we will move everything back!
How was your Saturday? Done any moving-in, lately?
That was nice of him to help you. Moving is hard work.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was very nice of him to help us; daughter and I were really struggling with that sofa!
Deleteoh moving...so terrible!!! I really feel for you two, having to redo this move again in 2 months..eeeh.. So very nice the workman helped you with the sofa..
ReplyDeleteBe careful on your trip home. I will pray for a safe trip home.. And comfort for you [I know the leaving your daughter there is hard.. My children have been gone from home a long time, and I still miss them and hate to see them leave, after a visit.ha]
Judy, thank you for the prayers; they are always much appreciated.
DeleteOh Bless! That's so much work for you two. What strong women you are! I hope you're able to get some rest and relaxation soon. You two are awesome!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, thanks! We'll need that strength again in approx. 2 months time when she needs to move back into her old apartment! It's being renovated (painted and floors redone) and that's why she had to move out!
DeleteHi Bless !
ReplyDeleteIt's me from 2023 ;)
I think it was the chutney recipe you linked and of course I scooted around reading some older posts and stumbled on this series of posts about your daughter's temporary move. Very interesting. So she moved back a couple of months later to a renovated apartment? Is that where she is now?
I was reading and laughing at you two ladies doing all the moving yourselves.
Good Job!
Hi Debra from 2023! :D
DeleteYes, she had to move out of her apartment because they were putting in laminate flooring and repainting the apartments. Once her old apartment was done, she had to move back, and yes, that's where she is still. I didn't help her move back, though; I received my abnormal mammogram results when I went home after helping her move and I was busy with medical appointments. Some of the workmen helped her move the furniture and she managed the rest on her own.
