Sunny Monday

Nectarine Flowers

I am hopeful that the nectarine tree will bear some fruit, this year; but, even if it doesn't, the flowers are definitely worth growing the tree, aren't they?

Monday was sunny and lovely.  I woke up a few times (once when Dancer threw up, once to feed him), but, each time, I went back to sleep and slept the morning away!  I am sure I needed the extra sleep (I was experiencing some back pain), but, I was mad at myself for sleeping in till so late!  It put my whole schedule off!

Nevertheless, I had a productive day.  I cleaned the floor where Dancer threw up.  I emptied the dishwasher, reloaded it, and ran it.  I washed Dancer's dishes by hand.  I stripped my bed and washed the bed sheets and did a load of clothes, too.  I put away one load of laundry and, once the bed sheets had dried, remade the bed with my daughter's help.  I washed the bath mats and kitchen rugs and hung them to dry, swept the kitchen, swept and mopped the bathroom (cleaned Dancer's litter box, too) before I put the dried mats down.  The washing machine indicated that it needed to be cleaned after I did the bath mats and kitchen rug, so I ran the cleaning cycle.  I cleaned out the fridge and took the trash can and recycling bin to the curb for pick up on Tuesday morning.  My daughter took the yard waste bin out because it was a bit heavy.  I persuaded Rebel the Robot to vacuum my bedroom and vacuum the family room, again, without any problems, and I rewarded it by giving it a good cleaning (my daughter and I have long hair and there were quite a few hairs tangled up in Rebel's brushes!)

I had given the house a good cleaning just before daughter came home, but, since then, with my blood clot bothering me, I have done minimal housework.  So, the house really needed a good cleaning again, and I am happy with what I was able to get done, on Monday.  I took my time as I didn't want to aggravate my back, but, I had applied some Tiger Balm to the base of my spine once I woke up and that helped and the pain went away over the course of the day.

In between housework, I chatted with friend R and aunt C.  I emailed a couple of friends and checked on the garden.  Brunch and dinner were assorted leftovers we had in the fridge.

On Monday, I was grateful for:

- My blood clot is starting to clear, I think
- Daughter being here to help and keep me company
- Working appliances
- Feeling better
- What I was able to accomplish

Monday's joyful activity was strolling around the garden.

Plans for Tuesday include getting Rebel to vacuum the living room and hallway!  Also, more laundry (daughter's bed sheets, the family room sofa dust sheets, etc.)

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  1. The nectarine flowers are very pretty and they look much like the peach flowers, which makes sense. You may have slept the morning away, but you were certainly productive after that.

    1. Yes, peaches and nectarines are closely related, so their flowers look very similar. The bees are certainly enjoying them, and hopefully, they are doing a good job pollinating them, too! I was determined to make up for sleeping in! :)

  2. The nectarine flowers are very pretty and I hope the tree produces some fruit for you. Sounds like Rebel the Robot is doing a great job for you. Interesting about you and your daughter having long hair as you never mention having it cut. I lost all my hair in 2020 and have only had it cut once since then so it is shoulder length now. Unfortunately it is not in good condition, such a different texture since before the chemo but I'm alive so can't complain too much about my hair and I do like the length and not having to visit the hairdressers anymore :)

    1. Thank you, Eileen; I'm looking forward to some homegrown nectarines.
Yes, Rebel is behaving very nicely, right now! :D
I, too, lost all my hair during chemo; I had waist length hair before that. My hair has grown back, since then, but, not as long (a little below my shoulders) and like yours, the texture is different. I am thankful to have my hair grow back.

  3. The nectarine flowers are gorgeous all on their own.
What a busy day of housecleaning. Don’t you wish everything just stayed spotless after all the work you do?
My in-person 2 hours were converted to video today, so that saves me hours in commuting time.
It’s still cold here, but bright and sunny. ☀️

    1. They are pretty flowers, aren't they? I noticed that the bees are visiting the flowers; hopefully they are doing a bit of pollinating, as well! :)
I wish I had the energy to clean the whole house in one go, as I used to, a long time ago. But, I don't, so I do little bits as and when I can and feel there's always more to do!
Oh, I'm glad you could video instead of actually go into the office, today, and save yourself the commuting time. Hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine for a bit.

  4. It is good that the clot is clearing. I never realised that nectarines had such beautiful flowers. I've just rescued three tiny viola flowers that have come up in the gravel, and put them together in a pot - hoping they will thrive better there

    1. Thank you, Mandy. Some days are more productive than others, but, it all depends on my energy levels. :) Dancer is OK, but, I need to take him for a check up, soon.

  6. Nectarine flowers are frilly, it seems. Certainly worth growing even just for their beauty, but I hope you will get fruit as well. You certainly had a busy day.

  9. The nectarine blossoms are very pretty with all the different shades of pink.
You were busy Monday, weren't you? It just shows that you don't need to get up early to get things done so feel free to sleep as long as you like! lol

    1. They are very pretty, aren't they? The whole tree is full of flowers, this year, so I am hoping there will be some nectarines to enjoy, later this year.
I made up for sleeping in on Monday, didn't I? :D I've been having trouble sleeping this week; even on the nights when I go to bed "early", I stay awake until 5 or 6:00 a.m., and sleeping till noon or later! I'm hoping I can get back to a better sleep schedule. But, afternoons are my productive time of day, anyway.
