Relaxing on Friday

Rose Leaves

The rose bushes are leafing out; hopefully, we'll have some roses, soon.

It was a mostly cloudy and cool day, on Friday.  It had been very windy, on Thursday due to the Santa Ana winds, but Friday was not as windy.  I woke up once at 9:00 a.m. to feed the cats and turn off the porch lights.  Then, I went back to bed and dozed until 10:00 a.m.  But, even after I had a cup of tea and said my morning prayers, etc., I felt, not exactly sleepy, but, very drained and unenergetic.  I suppose the events of the past few days and yesterday's diagnosis sort of took a toll on me.  However, as the morning went on, I felt better.

I had a bowl of cereal for brunch, replied to blog comments (thank you, everyone for your well wishes) and read a few blogs.

Daughter went for another walk with neighbor S's daughter in the afternoon.  Later, we chatted for a bit and she emailed her supervisor at work to ask if she could work from home, next week.  Her supervisor, who works remotely 100% of the time, was quite agreeable.  So, daughter extended her visit by one more week and rescheduled her flight to the following weekend.  I think we are both a little relieved to know that she will be with me for another week, just in case!

I wore my compression socks all day, today, and have felt comfortable wearing them.  I'll probably take them off when I go to sleep, though.

In the evening, M tended to the garden and watered it as there is no more rain in the forecast.

I made roast pork sandwiches for dinner (and daughter had some leftover soup from Tuesday's Italian meal, as well).

On Friday, I was grateful for:

- Daughter was able to extend her visit by another week
- M's help with the garden
- Working appliances
- Phone calls from family and friends
- A relaxed day

Today's joyful activity was chatting on the phone with family and friends.

Plans for Saturday include more laundry (today, I handwashed one of my wool sweaters) and crafting.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for Saturday and the weekend?

  2. How nice that your daughter can extend her visit. The acceptance of remote working is a great thing these days. You have had a very busy week, both physically and emotionally. I'm not surprised that you felt tired yesterday.

    1. Yes, it's wonderful that she can stay another week and work from home. It's a blessing that her job is such that it can be done remotely. I think it was the emotional aspects of my health issues that got me down and made me feel overwhelmed and tired, yesterday. But, I'm feeling better, today, and am feeling more positive about things. :)

  3. How nice to have your daughter staying another week! She must be such a comfort to you and, of course, really fun.
Work was good on Friday. I rode in with husband and took the bus home. The bus was crowded, but I got a seat after the first stop. I and a few other people wore masks. 😷
I’m going to a play tonight—The Outsiders. The book came out when I was a teenager and, at the time, we were all obsessed with the story and characters (especially Ponyboy).
I just saw my neighbor in full FDNY uniform while I was walking the dogs. He’s headed to the St. Patrick’s Day parade. NY City will be full of celebrations today and tomorrow. My grandparents all came here from Ireland when they were young adults. 🇮🇪

    1. It is wonderful to have daughter stay another week. We couldn't do all the fun things we had planned to do this week, with us both concerned about my blood clot, but, we will try to fit in some of those fun activities in the evenings, next week. :)
Glad you had a good work day on Friday and got a seat on the bus home, after the first stop. I'm glad you and a few others wore masks. It's better to get all the protection one can!
I hope you enjoy the play, tonight. I'm not familiar with The Outsiders - the book or the movie. Will you be attending the St. Patrick's Day parade? If not, will you be celebrating St. Patrick's Day, especially since you have an Irish heritage?

  5. I hope you are feeling better, it is natural to feel drained when you are used to being fairly quiet and then there is a lot of activity, plus the concern about your leg. I'm so glad your daughter will be staying longer.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. Yes, I am feeling much better, today. The leg is less painful and I am in a better frame of mind. I'm very thankful that my daughter will be staying for another week. There were a few things that we had planned to do which we weren't able to do during the first week; hopefully, we'll be able to do them next week, after she finishes work for the day. :)
