Remembering Summer Roses

I didn't take any photos today, so I'm posting a photo from the archives of a summer rose.

It was another sunny day with the daytime high in the upper 70s.  My kind of fall weather!  LOL/

I had a library book that was due, so, after I spent the morning attending to a few things such as scheduling another blood test for an upcoming doctor's appointment, updating my holiday gift list for this year, commenting on blogs, etc., I went to the library in the early afternoon.  I had not received an email notification that any of the books I had requested had come in, but, I checked the holding shelves, anyway, and as luck would have it, one of the books I had requested was waiting on the shelves!  So I was able to check it out, today.

After I came home, I sorted through and tidied one of my dresser drawers.  I'd like to say I decluttered a few items from that drawer, but, I'm afraid I didn't.  Instead, I decluttered a small frying pan from the kitchen when I did the dishes!  Then I tried to sort through some books, but, I put them all back on the shelf, so that was not successful.  I'll try again, tomorrow!

Today, I am grateful for:

- Library services and feeling more comfortable about making a quick trip inside (masked, of course) to return or pick up a book
- A safe drive to the library and back
- Another sunny and warm day
- Emails from friends
- Being able to schedule appointments online

Today's joyful activity was reading.

Plans for tomorrow (Friday) include doing a load of laundry, some housekeeping, and tending to the garden with M in the evening.

How was your Thursday?  What are your plans for Friday?

  1. That was a successful journey to the library as you picked up the book you'd ordered. This decluttering is difficult isn't it not wanting to let go of things, I'm exactly the same.

    1. Yes, it was a successful journey to the library! Decluttering is hard for me; I have now come to a place where I know certain things must go, but, I am finding excuses (and that's what they are) to hold on to them! But, I'll get there, eventually. :)

  2. I need to update my holiday gift list. I've got a start, but it is very disorganized. But one thing at a time. Now I'm trying to get ready for a big crowd on Thanksgiving. BTW, you picked a great picture from the archives. So pretty.

    1. Yes, it's the holiday season, with Thanksgiving just a couple of weeks away and then, Christmas four weeks later! I'm sure you'll have everything nicely organized for when you host Thanksgiving. :)
Thank you; I like the colors on that rose. :)

  3. I went to the library earlier this week, and checked out Make Space for Happiness, that someone recommended to you, and you mentioned on your blog a while ago! I will read it this weekend. Aren't libraries great?!

    1. I've just started reading Make Space for Happiness! I've also put in a request for her previous book which she mentions, because that book apparently discusses the block we encounter when decluttering (and that's where I am, right now). I'd like to hear your opinions of the book once you've finished reading it, Celie. :)

    1. Thank you! It was supposed to have been a yellow rose, but, it had a pink blush to it! And yes, libraries are great! :)

  5. De-cluttering is not a straightforward task. Sometimes it is better just to wait until another day. Xx

    1. Yes, sometimes, even when I know that something should be decluttered, I find it hard to actually get rid of the item! I really have to be in the right mood to declutter!

  6. If your efforts at decluttering were a graph, you'd see your effort going in the right direction over the years. Just imagine all you've removed from your home. You continue to pay attention to your desire to declutter and whether you have a successful month or a slower month,
    I think it's all good.
With my recent visit to Savers (do you have Savers thrift store in California?) and the things from Rosemary's house (the lady who passed away) I have brought in quite a few things to my home lately and that's made me a bit nervous lol
So I'm going through my house with an eye towards considering what could go.
I've done a good job again this year getting rid of things so my tally is a good one.
( but a visit to the garage always boosts my numbers.)
    hahahaha

    1. Thank you, Debra; yes, I have been getting more items out than have been coming in.
I hadn't heard of Savers, but, I looked it up and yes, there are three locations in Southern California (but, all several miles away from me, in other cities). I've never been to one - I've stopped going to thrift stores because I'm always tempted to buy something!
Well done with doing a good job getting rid of things! I'm sure you'll enjoy what you've brought home, recently, plus, you mentioned that you took some of Rosemary's things to the thrift store in your earlier comment. :)
