Where There is a Will

Back Garden

The other day, I happened to look outside at the back garden and a movement inside the fenced off planting bed in the middle of the picture caught my eye.  It is the same bed that had been cordoned off with the yellow caution tape, earlier.  I hadn't see any of the garden cats or the neighbors' bunny crossing the caution tape barrier while it was in place, but, I thought a wire mesh fence would be a better barrier.  But, apparently I was wrong!  Do you see him?  I've drawn a black rectangle around him in the photo below with a white arrow pointing down to him:

Cat in the Planting Bed

I should have known!  It's the same cat who slept in the newly planted vegetable pot when he was a kitten, even after I put some sticks in it to keep him out!

Naughty Kitty - Then

Naughty Kitty - Now

"How did you get in there?"

Apparently, there was a little gap between the ground and the bottom of the fencing and he had discovered it!  I waited until he crept right back out and pushed the wire mesh down.

Where there is a will, there is a way, I guess!  At least, it wasn't one of the bunnies!

Speaking of bunnies, according to neighbor S's daughter, apparently, the people who were in my yard trying to catch a bunny the other morning, are also supposed to have bunnies!  Maybe they were trying to catch one of their own bunnies, then?  Just how many bunnies are there?

Today has been a good day.  I did some paperwork, scheduled a couple of appointments including one for getting my car serviced, tomorrow, washed some dishes, and cooked a beef curry and sauteed green beans for dinner (daughter put the rice to boil).

Today, I am grateful for:
- Another good, pain free day
- What I was able to accomplish
- Phone calls with family and friends
- Green beans from the garden
- Working appliances

Today's joyful activity was cooking the curries for dinner.

Plans for tomorrow include taking the car for a much overdue service and having M tend to the garden.

How was your day?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

    1. Thank you, Angela. There seems to be more pain free days now and I am grateful for each and every one of them! :)

  2. I had my car serviced yesterday, also. Unfortunately, I need 4 new tires-not exactly an inexpensive need, but a need all the same. I ordered them and they should be in in a couple of weeks. I hope your service turns out cheaper than mine.

    1. Ah, yes, new tires are costly, but, safe tires are a must! I had to drop the car off for service and come home because of the long wait time (estimated to be 3+ hours). This is the 40,000 mile service and the initial estimate was $349.95. I am waiting for them to call or text me to let me know what else I might need in addition to the basic oil change, etc.!

  3. What a sweet little naughty kitty. What is up with all the bunny people around there, and why do they let them out?! Glad it was another good day Bless. :)

    1. I always tell him it's a good thing he's so cute, otherwise he'd be in big trouble! :D

I've no idea what the deal is with the neighbors on my block and their free ranging bunnies! Maybe their children let the bunnies out?

Thank you, Martha; hope you are safe from the hurricane!

  4. It's just as well you're feeling better as it seems that Round 2 of Bless V Kitten has started. Good luck! 😂

Fingers crossed that your car sails through the service tomorrow, and well done on a productive day.

I've had a quiet day. The highlight was getting my oven cleaned but I haven't done much else. Tomorrow is shopping day 😀

    1. Thank you for the well wishes on the Kitten Wars! :D This little guy seems determined to sleep on my plants! :D

Thanks; I dropped the car off and came home, this morning. They estimated the car service will take 3 hrs. and $349.95...unless they call/text me to say X,Y, and Z need to be replaced! :D

Getting the oven cleaned is a big achievement! I think you deserve to have a relaxed day after that! Are you shopping for the fabric for your shirt and skirt tomorrow?

    2. I paid for a professional oven clean so absolutely no effort on my part! It was worth it though.

Yes I'm hoping to buy the materials for the skirt tomorrow. I haven't seen anything for the shirt yet so will wait and make the skirt first. I haven't done any dressmaking for years so I'm hoping I still enjoy it and haven't forgotten everything!

    3. I'm sure getting it done professionally was the best thing to do. :) Good luck with the shopping tomorrow and the skirt sewing. :) By the way, I picked up the car and the service came to less than what was estimated! Must be the first time that has happened! :D

  5. He's a pretty cat, looks somewhat like Dancer! My cat, Vivian, is a calico. All the dishes you've made with the zucchini have sounded yummy, well, perhaps not so much the one with ice cream! Tho the brownies would probably go very well with ice cream! I look forward to what you try next. Celie

    1. Oh, calico cats are so pretty! I once had a calico cat and she was very sweet; she loved to climb up on to the bar stool type chair I had on the family room side of the kitchen counter and watch me cook! :D

I tried the brownies with some ice cream, yesterday, and it tasted much better than the sauteed zucchini with ice cream! :D

  6. I wonder if that garden cat happens to be a boy? If it is, you could name him Will. If not I guess Wilhelmina would be a bit of a mouthful for such a little kitty!
I keep trying to imagine your neighbourhood with bunnies running around and people running after them.

    1. Ha, ha, great minds think alike, Bushlady! I was telling my daughter, just last night, that we should name the kitty Will! :D

Those bunnies and their owners have me shaking my head! Of course the bunnies are cute as anything, but, I'm not sure if we all want to have rabbits feeding in our yards! :D

    2. How cute are the owners? :D

    3. Not very! :D Not at all like the bunnies! :D

  7. Hope you can keep that cat out of your garden. They are always drawn to the nicest gardens. I got my grocery shopping done, the car washed, and my home insurance paid. I plan to clean house and do a load of laundry today.

    1. Kitty seems to have made himself quite at home in my garden! The mockingbirds don't like him, though, and keep dive bombing at him and chasing him! Maybe they'll drive him away!

Sounds like you've been busy, Stephenie! They are all things that need to be done, though, aren't they? :)

  8. That naughty kitty. Never underestimate how high a cat can jump or what he can get into or under. I wonder if he has a home? Or is he looking for a new one? As for the bunnies, well you know how fast they can multiply. And no, we are definitely not in the path of Elsa thankfully, because looking at the news coverage, she sure did a lot of damage. Denise

    1. He is a naughty kitty, but, he's a cutie, too. He's feral and I guess my garden is his home. I feed him and he sits by the back door to wait for the food, but, runs a few feet away the minute I open the door to put out the food!

Glad you are not in the path of Elsa. Hope your week is going well, Denise. :)

  9. You can't remain cross at that sweet face. It hides itself very easily, I struggled to see the kitty in your first photograph. X

  10. The animals seem to like your garden lol. We have a couple of bunnies in our garden. They like to come eat the bird seed dropped from the feeders. I don't mind. They are wild bunnies, not pets though.

    1. I do get an assortment of animals coming through my garden, don't I? I guess it is one of the few gardens on our block without any dogs, so they know they are safe here! I'm glad you don't mind the wild bunnies eating the dropped birdseeds. :)

That little guy has been a rascal from day one. I thought, "he must be a really good jumper!" lol.
Glad you found the entrance and secured it.

    1. He is a bit of a rascal! :D Today, he got into a fight with a neighborhood cat! I only heard the commotion and then, I saw him run like a streak to hide under the house! :D
