What Happened to Thursday?

What happened to my Thursday?  Where did it go?  I feel like I blinked and Thursday vanished!  I had planned to do so many things, but, I feel like I didn't get anything done!  I almost typed that I didn't do anything, but, of course, that would not be true.  I did do various things; it's just that I feel like I didn't get enough done.

In the morning, after a cup of tea, I responded to blog comments, read some blogs and commented on them, and made pancakes and corned beef for brunch.  I cooked the canned corn beef with sauteed onions and tomatoes, with chili powder.  Opening the can was a bit of a challenge as the strip of metal that gets removed with the key on the can broke off half way!  I had to use a chisel and hammer to open the can the rest of the way!  The regular can opener can't open cans of corned beef.

In the afternoon, I started on my daughter's friend A's bridesmaid dress.

In the evening, I called the gynecologist's office to find out the test results, but, there was no answer.  Maybe they were already closed for the day (it was around 4:30 p.m.).  I will try calling them, tomorrow morning.

Then, it was time to have a cup of tea.  Aunt T called and we chatted for a bit.  My daughter called, too, to update me on her eye exam.  Then, I started the car and let it run for a little, since I haven't driven it for a couple of days, and I went for a short walk.

After that, it was time to watch the Democratic Presidential Candidates' debate.

The rest of the evening was spent watching some TV programs, video chatting with my daughter, and doing a little bit of paperwork.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A warm and sunny day
- The things I did manage to accomplish
- Daughter's eye exam went well
- The car started without any problem
- Being able to open a can with a chisel and hammer!

How was your Thursday?  Do you sometimes wonder where your day went?

  1. I don't have that problem now as I can't eat corned beef but I remember how difficult it can be to open the tins. It's about time they redesigned the tins! Thought if you with the hammer and chisel did make me smile though!! xx

    1. They should be the easiest cans to open, with their built in opener, but, often, they are the hardest! Call me resourceful - I was determined to open that can! :D

    1. Hope you don't have to go out in the wind! No wind at all, over here! Just sunny and hot! Hope you, too, have a lovely weekend, Natalia.

  5. The days do pass quickly, don't they? I think I need to start hand writing to do lists again. I made a casserole, watered the garden and orchard, and watched a documentary on HBO.

    1. I think I need to get back to a more structured routine. Being retired and feeling I have all the time in the world to do what I want to do is causing me to procrastinate a bit too much!

  6. Thursday? I am wondering what happened to May, June, July and August! I would have said I was wondering where summer went but it is still almost 98 degrees here and it is nearly 6 pm.

    1. LOL, Anne. The days are whizzing past, aren't they? It was 98F here, too, today. We won't get to Fall until mid-October. :)

  7. I often wonder where my day went. Heheee. Sometimes it’s because it’s a very busy day and I get a lot done, and other time I feel like I didn’t do anything at all.

    1. I think I need to plan my days a little better. I certainly don't miss the busy days of when I was working, but, I need to pick up the pace a little bit!

  8. I don't eat corned beef but I've always wondered why it is packaged in those awful cans. X

    1. I tried to find out why the cans were shaped like that and, as you can imagine, there were all kinds of explanations (much of it rather tongue-in-cheek), but, the most plausible seemed to be it was easier to be carried in soldiers' knapsacks during one of the wars like the Boer Wars. I have no idea if that is true or not, but, I am ready for a can with a pull tab!

  9. Oh I detest containers that don't perform the way they should! We poor mortals who trust the mechanics of preordained opening techniques suddenly find ring tabs that break off, plastic pull tags that pull off instead of peeling round, tops that are too tight but the wrong shape for gadgets to grip and turn them, and horrid little safety seals that you can't grip and so must stab in order to remove them! Don't get me started on toilet cleaners whose childproof tops are hard to open, and bottles with pumps that stop pumping! There, I feel better now I've got that off my chest!
I think I gained a day today as I woke up thinking it was Sunday and couldn't figure out why we hadn't taken our Saturday pills in the organizers. I was very happy to find it was only Saturday after all.

    1. Add spray cans that stop spraying while there's still stuff inside! LOL. I always ask the pharmacy for a regular cap on my medications, but, they often forget and put childproof tops which I can't open!

Yay for gaining an extra day! :D I hope you enjoyed your Saturday and there's all of Sunday to look forward to, as well! :)
