I spent a little time trying to tidy my family room which had become very messy. It is the room in which I spend most of my time, and because I am very bad about putting things away, the entire room was looking very cluttered. The family room will be my room of focus, as far as cleaning is concerned, this week.
In addition to tidying the family room, I also made more chicken stock, froze the stock I made on Sunday, did dishes, spoke with one of my cousins who is in Australia, took the trash cans to the curb, and put water to the garden:
Front Yard: Where have all the flowers gone? |
Monday was also a day to simply hang around:
Snowball, the Tree Hugger |
To smell the roses:
Pink Double Rose |
To pick calamondin:
Calamondin on the tree |
I halved a few of them and added them to my glass of water to flavor it.
In the palm of my hand |
Today, I am grateful for:
- A cooler day
- Being able to talk with cousin B in Australia
- Good friends
- Calamondin
- Roses
How was your Monday?
Wow,beautiful tree!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natalia. :)
DeleteIf you only had 10 drops of rain I'd better not mention that it rained on and off all day, light drizzly rain so quite a murky day.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of calamondins before. Did your mum plant the tree?
I'm glad you didn't mention that it rained on and off all day, Eileen. :D Our rainy season is supposed to start in October, so we'll see what happens, then.
DeleteThe calamondin tree was already here when I bought the house. One of the two previous owners had planted it, as well as the lemon trees, an orange tree (which I had to cut down when I did the family room addition, but, I planted a replacement orange tree), and the feijoa (pineapple guava) trees.
I understand about your family room. I will clean up our den and a couple of days later, it looks like an explosion went off in there. I, too, am guilty of not putting things away when I should. :)
ReplyDeleteI had all good intentions of spending 10 minutes each night to tidy up and put things away, but, I haven't been doing that, lately. With some things, like the clothes drying rack, which can be folded and slid into the space between the washer and the wall, it's more convenient to keep set up most of the time; but, then, it adds to the visual clutter. But, other things, like the vacuum cleaner, should have been put back in the spare bedroom, after being used!
DeleteWhat is a calamondin, I've never heard the word before?
ReplyDeleteIt is a type of citrus, a cross between a mandarin orange (or tangerine) and kumquat. They are small, about an inch in diameter, and very acidic. They are often grown as container plants for ornamental purposes, but the fruits are edible.
DeleteStunning
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
DeleteI don't think I've ever tasted calamondin. The tree is so pretty with full of fruits.
ReplyDeleteIs that one the stray cats? :)
The fruit is very acidic, but, edible. It should grow well in your area, I think.
DeleteYes, that's one of the stray cats. I keep telling myself I shouldn't name them, but, I do!
Ive never heard of calomondin before. Neat to have in your yard.
ReplyDeleteThey are often grown as ornamental plants in containers. But, I'm glad to have one growing in my garden. :)
DeleteI am not familiar with a calamondin. Are they similar in taste to a mandarin? The tree is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnne, they are a cross between a mandarin (or tangerine) and kumquat. Very sour, but edible. Often grown as ornamental plants in containers. I don't know how old my tree is, it was here when I bought the house, but, it is covered with fruit!
ReplyDeleteYour citrus look so healthy! Mine are still small and green. I love the photo of the cat. I need to be better about putting things away, too. (especially filing paperwork.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephenie. Well, my lemons and oranges are still small and green. They won't be ready until later in the year or early next year.
DeleteI love the picture of Snowball on the tree, and I found myself wondering if there was possibly some category in the photo hunt that he would fit into?
ReplyDeleteAnother sunny day today and we went down to the beach in the afternoon and DH took a swim in the river which is still warm enough.
I don't think the current photo hunt has a category for that particular photo, but, maybe there will be one in a future photo hunt. :)
DeleteGlad you had another sunny day and the river was warm enough for a swim!
By the way, I just picked up The Occupied Garden from the library, this afternoon. I'm looking forward to reading it. :)
