Doctor's Appointment on Friday

Today, I had my routine follow-up visit with my oncologist.  I go in for a check up every three months.  My appointment was at 1:15 p.m., I left the house at 12 noon.   I got to the clinic at 1:00 p.m.  Usually, I have a long wait before I am seen; I went prepared with a book to read while I waited, but, there was hardly any wait, today.

I was seen by the nurse practitioner (I actually like her better than the oncologist).  I brought her up to date about all that had happened since my last visit in June, when I saw the oncologist: my visit with the new primary care physician in July, the blood test that showed I was dehydrated, the visit with the radiation oncologist who was concerned about the blood test results and the repeat blood test, which seemed better; the visit to the gynecologist and the pap smear tests and the ultrasounds to check for uterine cancer; and, finally, the dog bites!  She was shaking her head at all what had happened.   She said the latest blood test, which I did on Wednesday, showed good results.  I am glad.  I am to return in December for a follow up visit plus the Prolia injection.  I left the clinic at 1:45 p.m.

On the way home, I stopped at the smaller Armenian grocery store to buy a loaf of my favorite bread and I picked up a $5 pepperoni pizza from the pizza place in the same mini-mall.  Came home and had two slices of the pizza for lunch (I had eaten a banana for breakfast, before I went to the clinic).  I also ate one of the cookies I bought, yesterday.  We'll just say I had a celebration lunch!  LOL.

I did two small loads of laundry after I came home and hung both loads up to dry.

Later in the evening, friend M came to tend to the garden and aunt C called.  Still later, I video chatted with my daughter.

Today, I am grateful for:
- A good visit with the oncology nurse practitioner
- Good blood test results
- Good health
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- Video chatting with my daughter

Today's joyful activity was getting the good health report from my doctor's office!

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. I'm so glad everything went well at your appointment and not having to wait is a bonus.
It's a beautiful sunny day here, so we're off to the beach later. Both lily and I have been under the weather this week so I'm hoping some sea air will do us good. X

    1. Thank you, Barb. I am so sorry to hear that your oldest daughter is having to undergo chemo and is fighting a battle of her own. Please give her my best regards and let me know if I can do anything for either of you. Hope you are doing OK and not affected by the flooding I've been seeing on the news. Take care.

  5. Glad to hear that your visit to the oncologist went well.

I went to band this morning (Saturday), and the rest of the weekend will be spent quietly at home. We have a yellow weather warning so I doubt I'll be going out at all.

  8. I am so happy that you got good results from your tests. Hubby is down to every 4 months now (3-1/2 years out). He was Stage 4 when they caught it and beat all the odds.
Blessings to you! Hang in there, kiddo!!! xo Diana

I just had to think a second about Friday. It’s already Saturday! I did grocery shopping on Friday and then got busy with my lesson plans. I can’t believe how fast days go by.

I hope you are having a relaxing weekend. 😊

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn, although salad and fruit might have been healthier! :D

I want to do some sewing and knitting. My cousin's grandson's Christening is on October 13, so one baby quilt needs to be done by then; I'm hosting the monthly prayer gathering the following weekend in October, and I want to have the 2nd baby quilt ready by then to give to my friend who is the grandmother of that baby to take with her when she goes to stay with her daughter when the baby is born. There's a menu to plan for the prayer meeting and the usual housecleaning in preparation, although the house is not looking too bad. I've two more doctors' appointments in October and my daughter will be coming down in the first weekend of October for her friend's wedding. Oh, yes, and Aunt C said she and her daughter are planning to visit in October, so I want to get the Halloween Cats fabric sewn up before that to give to my cousin. :)
