Today has been another hot day. I woke up with a slight sinus headache, which went away after some time, but, I decided to take it easy, today, too. After all, it is Labor Day holiday, today! I hadn't planned to do anything special to celebrate the holiday, however.
I had leftover milk rice for breakfast, then, in an attempt at a healthier diet, had a cucumber salad for lunch, followed by half a large apple. Afternoon tea was accompanied by some tea biscuits, however, and a handful of roasted cashews. Dinner was spaghetti again (freshly cooked pasta with leftover sauce from yesterday). I've had seven cups of water, so far; I'll drink the eighth cup when I take my medications before going to sleep.
Today, I called aunt C and left a message. I also called and texted with my daughter, on and off throughout the day, and video chatted with her later in the evening.
I walked for 20 minutes, again, this evening, and later, I put water to the back garden. I also cleaned out the fridge and took the yard waste bin and the trash can to the curb, to be collected either tomorrow or on Wednesday (Tuesdays are our regular trash collection days, but, after certain holidays, the Tuesday trash removal takes place on Wednesdays; I'm never quite sure which holidays result in Wednesday trash removals, though, and having missed a few times, I just put the cans out on Mondays, anyway).
Angela at Tracing Rainbows had posted about Zero Waste Week, over on her blog, and I had said that I would consider joining. I didn't officially sign up for anything, however, because, as I mentioned in my comment on her post, I have litter box cleanings to get rid of! The garden cats contribute enough and plenty out in the garden and I am not willing to add Dancer's contributions to it! I also don't flush toilet paper as that tends to clog up my sewer pipes. Instead, I toss them in the trash, along with the litter box cleanings. However, if the focus is on reducing the amount of stuff going to the landfills, especially the amount of single use plastics, then, I can support that cause. I shall keep tabs on what I do throw out, this week. This will be another "community" type activity, I think.
I just realized, as I was writing this post, that I had not started the car since I last drove it on Tuesday! Yikes! I ran to the garage and started the car and thank goodness it started! I have a doctor's appointment, tomorrow, and I'd have hated it if I had a dead battery! However, the low tire pressure light came on, so, tomorrow morning, I'll need to get that taken care of. I can't see which tire is deflated, so, hopefully, the tire will stay inflated enough, overnight, to enable me to drive to the service station! It's a good thing my appointment is not until noon, but, it does mean I need to make an effort and wake up a bit earlier than planned! It's 1:00 a.m., now. I guess I'd better publish this post and get ready for bed!
Today, I am grateful for:
- My headache went away without lingering
- Chatting with my daughter
- Cool evenings
- Managing to go for another walk
- The car started!
Tuesday's To Do List:
- Get the car tires checked and inflated
- Go to the doctor's appointment
- Water the indoor plants
- Dust
How was your Labor Day Monday? What are your plans for Tuesday?
I enjoy cool evenings finally too☺
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that you are finally getting some cool evenings, Natalia. I know you had some very hot days this summer.
DeleteI saw your comment on someone's blog and popped over to say Hi! So glad your car started and that all in all you had a good day. Have a great Tuesday. Off to work here this morning. Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, thank you for stopping by and commenting. I saw that you are from Green Bay and got all excited, because I went to UWGB! Some of my fondest memories are from my time there! Hope you have a wonderful day.
DeleteHope your appointment goes well today and you get your tire inflated.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Live and Learn. I rescheduled my appointment so that I won't feel too rushed!
DeleteI tried to eat a bit healthier this weekend, too. Had 2 salads. I still need to work on drinking more water.
ReplyDeleteWell done on having the salads! Keep working on that water! I managed 9 cups, yesterday.
DeleteIt's amazing how complicated getting trash picked up can be! We used to have that problem when our pickup was on Mondays and we had to be sure to leave it out on Sunday night. Whenever there was a holiday Monday we had to put it out on Monday night for Tuesday morning. Now it is always picked up on Tuesdays, unless Christmas Day falls on an awkward day of the week!
ReplyDeleteWell, even if it isn't that complicated, you can count on me to make it complicated! LOL. Apparently Labor Day is one of those holidays where the Tuesday pick up is pushed back to Wednesday. Oh, well, at least the trash cans are already by the curb!
DeleteSending hugs and good vibes for tomorrow. I didn't realise how nerve wracking it is keeping up a car! Hopefully the tyre will be easily sorted out.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa; I am holding on to those hugs and good vibes till Thursday, because I rescheduled the appointment. I got the tires inflated and, hopefully, they will stay inflated! If they do continue to lose air, then, it means there is a puncture to be dealt with.
DeleteHope you get your tyre sorted in plenty of time to get to your appointment, and I hope the appointment goes well.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing 15 - 20 minutes walks each day as well. Today I fitted the walk in by parking some distance away from where I needed to be and walking the rest of the way, and the same on the way back to the car. It may be the way to make me walk more ... we'll see!
Thank you, Eileen. I got the tires checked and re-inflated. But, I decided to reschedule the doctor's appointment to Thursday afternoon.
DeleteYour daily walks have been inspiring me. I hope your new strategy of parking some distance away helps!
I really has been hot here, hasn't it. Glad to hear you are drinking lots of water. It makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteYes, hot and humid, too. I'm trying to keep hydrated. Hope you are keeping cool, yourself. :)
DeleteIt's good to look at zero waste. I get really annoyed with myself that I have contributed to the waste problem when there were many years where I had hardly any rubbish.
ReplyDeleteWe can each do what we can, but, it is really hard to avoid plastic, these days!
DeleteOur Labor Day was equal as calm, and I tackled the pantry as well as the refrigerator cleaning. I try to check the pantry every year for out of date stuff, and every time I seem to find stuff 2 years past its expiration. Perhaps I am not getting around to it every year.
ReplyDeleteThose expiration dates creep up on us, don't they? I hate it when that happens. Maybe we need to check every 6 months? Glad to see that you are back from your blogging break. :)
