I went to the gynecologist's appointment, yesterday afternoon. The repeat procedure went very smoothly, this time. Oh, the difference being hydrated can make! I was told to call them, next week, for the results.
I showed the doctor my dog bites and he thought they were healing well and there was no need to go to urgent care. Then, he proceeded to tell me how he was walking his dog, one time, and a bigger dog came to attack his dog. The doctor said the big dog knocked him down and he broke his femur! I am glad it wasn't a big dog who jumped on me, because I would have probably fallen down and, with my osteoporosis, I could have broken something very easily! Thank Goodness for small mercies!
I hadn't eaten anything in the morning, before I went to the appointment (just my morning tea and a cracker from the package I took with me) and I thought I might buy something for my lunch on the way home. However, nothing seemed to appeal, so, I just came home and ate leftover spaghetti. Later, for dinner, I had a salad with steak, and, just before going to bed, at 3:00 a.m., I had pancakes! Ha, ha, I have my breakfast before I go to sleep!
I didn't go for a walk, yesterday. I was planning to water the garden in the evening, but, the neighbor whose dog bit me came to check on me. She said she had come on Wednesday, too, but, I hadn't been at home. I guess I was out walking when she came. Anyway, I showed her that the bite marks were healing and assured her that I was OK. She apologized, again. I just told her to keep the dogs locked up! After she left, I forgot about watering the garden!
It was quite hot, yesterday. We went up to 105F where I live. Even though the evening was nice and cool, the house remained over 80F when I went to sleep. As a result, I went to sleep with the fan on low and without pulling the covering sheet over me. Maybe, my legs got too cold. Because I woke up with a bad cramp on my right leg. For a moment or two, I wondered if it was tetanus setting in, because the dog bites were on my right hand and same side as the cramping leg, but, of course, tetanus is felt mostly in the jaws and neck. I rubbed some Tiger Balm, took a magnesium tablet (I used to take them all the time, earlier, but, haven't taken them in a long time), and covered myself with a quilt as well as the covering sheet! The leg is fine, this morning, and the hand is healing.
Since I forgot to water the garden, yesterday, I watered the front garden, this morning. The back garden will be watered in the evening.
My daughter will be coming down for the weekend, tonight. I'm looking forward to spending some more in person time with her.
Today, I am grateful for:
- The leg cramp was just that - a cramp, not tetanus setting in!
- The hand seems to be healing well
- Yesterday's procedure went well
- I had a safe drive there and back
- Daughter will be coming home, tonight
On the To Do List for today:
- Water the front garden - DONE
- Water the back garden (in the p.m.)
- Remake daughter's bed with fresh sheets
- Do laundry
- Do dishes/run the dishwasher
- Pick up DD from the airport!
How was your Thursday? What are your plans for today? What have you planned for the weekend?
Glad to hear that your bites are healing well. My friend had a bigger dog knock her down and she broke her hip (no osteoporosis). It was a difficult time because her husband had died only a week earlier and her 4 year old grandson was undergoing cancer treatments. But almost a year later, she is recovered as well as her grandson and she is living life well. People's resilience is remarkable.ReplyDelete
Hope it's a little cooler for you today.
I'm glad your friend has recovered well and her grandson is doing well. What a hard thing to happen at such a tough time!Delete
It is supposed to be slightly cooler, today. The weekend will be only in the 80s - my daughter says she's bringing Berkeley weather with her (it is always much cooler up in the Bay Area).
Glad to hear that the healing is continuing and also that your appointment went well. Fingers are crossed for a clear result.ReplyDelete
How lovely that your daughter is coming home again and that you'll get to spend some more time with her. Hope you have a lovely weekend x
Thank you, Eileen. I hope the results will be good.Delete
Yes, I'm happy that she is coming home this weekend; it'll give us both an opportunity to reestablish bonds after our recent misunderstanding. :)
I'm so glad it's all healing well.ReplyDelete
Thank you, One Family. :)Delete
Oh, I'm glad it's healing. I had a rescued dog that bit me twice, and I put her to sleep. It's too dangerous and a liability in California to have a dog that bites. That neighbor should pay for your medical bills. (in my opinion.)ReplyDelete
Thank you, Stephenie. Yes, one can never tell with rescue dogs. One is supposed to have dogs on leashes when they are outside, but I have neighbors who often let their dogs run ahead of them without being on a leash! Or, there is one neighbor who sits on his front porch steps and lets his dog run around, whistling to him to call him, back! I see them when I am outside, putting water to my garden (I have no fence or wall in the front).Delete
No medical bills for the dog bite. The gyn didn't charge me anything for this visit, as it was to repeat the test (he didn't charge me for the first visit, either, as it was a wellness check). The only charge was $7.50 for parking, and I would have paid that, anyway, because my main reason for going to the gyn. was for the repeat test. :) Maybe, the next time I see my neighbor, I'll tell her that I'd like some yummy Armenian pastries or something. :)
That’s very nice of the dog owner to check on you.ReplyDelete
I hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter.
Yes, I appreciate her checking on me. She really is very sorry about the whole thing. It was an accident and these things do happen.Delete
Thank you. She's coming down for her friend's bachelorette party, scheduled for Saturday evening, but, we will spend some time just hanging around together, Saturday morning and on Sunday.
Glad you're doing okay. I get terrible cramps in my legs and feet. It's usually when I'm either cold or I'm travelling a lot or sometimes for no reason at all. They are really quite painful. Mum gets them quite bad too.ReplyDelete
Thank you, Sharon. I used to get cramps in my hands and feet, which is when I started taking magnesium, per doctor's suggestion. Then, when the cramping stopped, I stopped taking the supplements! Maybe I should resume taking them, a couple of times a week.Delete
That sounds scary to have a dog bite you. I hope you recover soon.ReplyDelete
Thank you, Akasha. Yes, it was scary, because it was so unexpected. Thankfully, they were smaller dogs. Bigger dogs might have caused more damage!Delete
I'm relieved the wound is healing well and that your initial worries about your leg didn't result in anything.ReplyDelete
You must be so excited to see your daughter again this weekend. X
Thank you, Jules. Yes, my daughter arrived safely, this evening. It's good to have her home, again. :)Delete
I am glad you are getting to visit with your daughter again. I miss seeing 2 of my sons and their families.ReplyDelete
Night time cramps are the worst. They can be really bad the first couple of weeks of keto. Since I have been off the wagon for a little over a week I have got to get back on and will need to take magnesium to thwart them.
Thank you, Anne; I'm sure you miss the two sons who are away.Delete
I didn't know that you got cramps when you started keto. Yes, take some magnesium to help keep them away!
Ha ha, I love the idea of eating pancakes at 3 am but someone would have to make them for me! The most I am prepared to do in the middle of the night is peel an orange if I fancy one.ReplyDelete
I am known for baking, etc., after midnight! :DDelete
I'm glad you are healing well, Bless.ReplyDelete
And your daughter's coming!!! Yeah :)
Thank you, Debra. Yes, I am healing well and it's so nice to have my daughter home, if only for the weekend. Or, maybe her visits feel so special because they are only for a few days, each time! She goes back, tomorrow afternoon.Delete
