Friday was a relaxed, yet productive day. In the morning, I did a pantry inventory, as I have decided to do a pantry challenge and eat mostly from the pantry and freezer this month.
Then, I took down the holiday decorations that were on the piano and mantel (the only places I decorated, this time) and took down the cards that I had taped to the inside of the front door. Then I dusted the living room and wiped down the inside of the door.
I watered the indoor plants, as well.
For lunch, I took the rest of the roast beef that my cousin had given me - I guess it was a type of rib roast, because this was a piece with several rib-like bones - added some vegetables that I had on hand, and made beef and vegetable soup. Daughter and I had some of it for lunch, I had another bowl of it with my dinner, and the rest is in the fridge for later.
In the afternoon, I paid some bills. I thought my water and power bill was due, but I haven't even received it yet! It was the phone bill that was coming due, so paid that, instead.
When my gardener friend M came over, we discussed plans for the garden and I had him trim one of the euphorbia plants that was growing over the back wall into the neighbor's garden. We planted the cuttings in the front garden, in the flower bed under the living room window. The summer son shining on the window tends to burn any plants I grow there, but I am hoping the euphorbia will be able to withstand the sun.
After that, daughter and I went for another 30 minute walk. Later in the evening, I drove my daughter to her friend's house to watch movies. I dropped her off and came home; called my friend to check on her; changed my bed sheets and did a load of laundry. Later, I picked her up from her friend's house. Her friend's mother (who is a friend of mine) had given daughter some empanadas to share with me; we came home and enjoyed them.
I decided to do the grocery shopping on Saturday.

How was your Friday? What are your plans for the weekend?
Sounds like a productive Friday and lots of plans for Saturday. Not sure what we're doing today. I'll be Skyping Mum and probably relaxing - hopefully my cross stitch will almost be finished too lol. It might actually get in the double digit F today so a warmup lol. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOoh, a warmup! How nice! Sounds like you've planned a nice, relaxing day, Sharon. Enjoy!
DeleteIt sounds like a good, balanced day. You were productive but didn't exhaust yourself and made sure to meet your goals. Great going on the walk again and I love the book art!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nathalie. The Christmas tree book art was the easiest design I could find. I've seen angels, too, based on that design, but I'll have to do a little more folding for the wings and find a round wooden bead to paint, for the head. Maybe for next Christmas. :)
DeleteI see that you planted succulent cuttings? Are those from someone at your office you had earlier?
ReplyDeleteLive and Learn, these are cuttings we took from a euphorbia that my gardener friend M had given me several years ago. The cuttings my former supervisor had given me have been planted, already. Some of them didn't survive the transplanting (it got too hot before they put down roots), but the rest are doing well.
DeleteI love your book art - did you follow a tutorial? I've seen lots of these and some of them are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI've made a few changes to my routine for 2018 so that I can have Friday in the house on my own - it's the only day of the week this actually happens. Have to say I'm very good company, I loved every minute of being on my own with 'me' lol. xx
Thank you, Suzanne; I looked up the instructions online. There are some very creative ones, aren't there? They seem a bit complicated, though, and I wasn't sure if I could manage to do them. But the tree was very easy and I've seen some angels, using the same folding, with some additional folding for the wings, so I might try that, next, and find a round wooden bead to paint for the head.
DeleteHow nice that you are able to spend Friday at home on your own! We are good company, aren't we?
Your day's activities reflected the winding down of your holidays and getting ready to go back to work. I hope you get some more "me" time and leisure activities on the weekend before that happens. The beef soup sounds lovely. I think I could live on home made soup, I love it so much.
ReplyDeleteYes, yesterday and today, too, to a certain extent, was getting ready for going back to work! I got my weekly grocery shopping done and I might do some more cooking tomorrow, so that weekday lunches and dinners will be easy, next week. I really want to get into a routine of preparing ahead for the work week, but then, again, I don't want my entire weekend to be spent getting ready for the work week, either!
DeleteI love your book art. Have you done any others? X
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jules. So far, this has been the only book art I've done!
DeleteYour book is awesome! I have a friend at work who does these, and she is amazing as well! She created one with the word "Teacher" in it. Simply awe-inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy. I've seen those books with words on them and I agree, they are truly works of art! I would like to do one with a music note, for my cousin, but I haven't found a free tutorial, yet.
