Words to Ponder (Pause in Advent)

Angela, at Tracing Rainbows, is hosting her annual Pause in Advent series where she writes something to pause and think about, every Sunday, during this period of preparations for Christmas.   Her first Pause in Advent post is here.

While I am not a Christian, I enjoy reading her Pause in Advent posts.  Her post, today, is about eight words: Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, Love All.  In her post, she explains more about those words and a link to the source of those words.

I think those are good words to live by, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year, and, not only by Christians, but by all of us, who might be of other religions, or have chosen not to belong to a formal religion, as well.  We could all live according to the tenets of our religions or beliefs, every day.  We could all spend in a thoughtful manner in ways that make a difference.  We could all give more to others by being considerate, courteous, and polite in our daily interactions with one another.  And we could all love all others by being kind, compassionate, empathic, and understanding.

What do you think?

    1. I was very happy to share your post, Angela. I learn a lot from your posts and one of the things I've learned is that you have a compassionate heart and you try to live what you say.

    1. Yes. They are lofty goals, though, aren't they? But, surely, we need to try?

  3. I like your explanation of the words a lot better. They fit in well with my life and can be used by any person or any or no religion. Lovely post.

  4. We all need to slow down and think about what actions really make a difference.

    1. Yes, that we do. Especially at this time of the year when we all get caught up in the frenzy of celebrating and trying to get it all done.

  5. I've slowed down this year and I am getting a little done here and there and wondering if panic will eventually set in! But I realize that eventually what needs to happen will happen. I remember years ago when we were young with a child at home and two cats, we had to take one cat to the vet in a town 30 miles away, and the following morning I got a call, "we are sending him home with antibiotics". It was Christmas Eve and we were expecting friends for supper! Not convenient to go all that way again, but it all worked out with the help of a bought dessert, and we were happy to see our dear kitty again. (I guess we saved a lot on accommodation for him, too) I have found that whenever I let go of control and let God as I know Him rule my life, I save a lot of stress and save others from seeing my worst side!

    1. Bushlady, you are right - when we slow down and really consider why we do what we do, then, we can concentrate on the really important to us things. I'm glad you were able to collect your kitty and still enjoy a meal in the company of your friends, that year. I hope your Christmas this year will be without stress and one of the happiest, ever.

  6. In the busyness of Christmas activity, it’s nice to observe Advent and slow down to reflect on the real reason for the season.
