Monday's Accomplishments

Today, I woke up to find some unwanted gifts from Dancer, in the bathroom and in the family room!  Not quite how I like to start my day, Dancer!

I went to the office in the morning and met with my supervisor to update her on the status of my projects and to inform her of my upcoming doctor's appointments, vacation time off, etc.

Later in the afternoon, I went to my appointment with the radiation oncologist for a routine check up.  He reviewed the reports, examined me, and pronounced he was satisfied with my progress; he wants to see me again in four months' time, so I made an appointment to be seen in April before I left his office.

On the way home, I picked up some Mexican fast food - a bowl with rice, red beans, grilled chicken, tortillas and a drink for $5.00 plus tax ($.43).  Yes, I've food in the fridge that I could have eaten, but I was in the mood for something different.  I had some for my lunch and some for my dinner and there's still another portion for tomorrow's lunch or dinner!

After my lunch, I ran a few errands.  I had revised my Monday's To Do List while I was waiting at the doctor's office to include putting gas to the car, buying a bag of cat food, and cleaning the bathrooms.  So, after lunch, I put gas to the car and then, went to the grocery store across the street from the gas station to buy the cat food.

I suppose I could have bought a bag of cat food at the grocery store I went to yesterday, but their cat food costs more ($10.99) for the same brand and amount.  But, when I went to this store, today, I found that their bags of cat food had gone up from $8.99 to $9.99 for the 13 lb. bag.  However, they had a different brand which was priced at $9.99 for a 16 lb. bag, so I decided to buy that, instead (this is for the stray/feral cats I feed).  The store only had one bag of it on the shelf and that bag had been torn and taped up.  I asked the store manager if he had any more in the store room at the back because I didn't know if any cat food had spilled from the bag before being taped and if it still weighed 16 lbs.,  but he said no, he didn't have any more.  Then, he asked if I would buy the torn bag for $6.99, instead.   I thought that was a good bargain, so that's what I did!  Then, I bought the bathmats I needed from another store, looked around that store to see if they had any white blouses for me (they didn't), and came home.

After I came home, I had a cup of tea, had a snack, watched the news on TV, spoke on the phone with daughter, replied to my friend's email, and started cleaning the bathrooms.  Daughter's/visitor's bathroom is done; my bathroom will be finished tomorrow.

It was a lovely, sunny day, today, with an afternoon high of 84F!  The forecast says it'll be 84F tomorrow, too!  But it will be cooling down a bit towards the end of the week, with a high of 78F on Sunday (almsgiving day).  Some years, it's been cold and rainy on the day of the almsgiving and I include soup on my menu.  I think it will be safe to say I won't serve soup this year.

Revised Monday's To Do List:

- Accomplishing all what I did, today.

How was your Monday?  Did you have a good start to your week?

  2. Good news from the radiation oncologist and your supervisor meeting going well. Well done on the feral cat food, a win for you and the store manager who I am sure was happy to get rid of it.

Two lunches and one dinner from your Mexican fast food was another win/win. Positive thoughts coming your way with your doctor appointment today.

  3. I am glad you were able to negotiate the price of the cat food. That was a great deal. What kind of gifts does Dancer leave for you? a dead bug or animal? hair balls? a toilet mishap? Whatever, it isn't what you want to see first thing in the morning. Ha.

Sounds like you are making great progress on your To-Do list and the weather on the day of the Alms giving will be exceptional. Wishing you a wonderful day.

    1. Susan, usually Dancer's gifts tend to be toilet mishaps and throw up, with the occasional hair ball! I couldn't get to some things on my to do list today, but I'm happy with what I managed to accomplish. Hope you've had a good day, too.

  5. Bummer about the "gifts". Once in a blue moon I wake to gifts also which means I did not stay awake late enough to let Shelby out in the back yard for her 1 a.m. "duty".
So happy the doctor is pleased with your progress!

    1. Thank you, Anne. At least he was smart enough to make sure he had his toilet mishap in the bathroom and the throw up in the family room and on the floor, which is easier to clean than the carpet or upholstered furniture! :)

  6. A satisfied oncologist sounds good. So pleased for you. I borrowed your 'things I am grateful for' recently and got some nice comments on the idea. I didn't take credit for it!

  7. Very pleased to hear that your dr. visit was so positive. Good for you buying the food that you fancied. Sometimes we need a treat even if there is stuff in the fridge.

Would you believe I have pulled apart half of the back of my pink sweater (after completing the front). I was going to adjust the shoulder shaping and found that the two armholes didn't line up properly. Then I found the sides didn't line up. When I unraveled a huge amount, I realized that my tension had been different on one side! There was no discrepancy with the armhole shaping. I'm beginning to think I'm my own worst enemy where knitting is concerned. Maybe I'll stick to small projects in future!

    1. Oh, no, Bushlady! So sorry you had to unpick your sweater! Amazing how much our tension can change when knitting. Hope you'll be able to re-knit the sweater, quickly.

  8. Glad the visit went well. I've been meaning to let you know how mum was doing. She's doing really well. We celebrated her 81st birthday when I was home in September. I think the last you knew one of her tests had come back funny. She had several more tests that proved inconclusive but the spot had not grown so mum decided to leave it for six months as she's feeling pretty good with no pain. Can't believe she's come so far :)
