Erasing the Evidence on Monday

Today, I decided to take it easy and rest all morning and afternoon!  Although I had been tired, last night, I didn't go to bed until 3:00 a.m. and was too keyed up to fall asleep!  But I slept in till 10:30 a.m., when the sound of Dancer throwing up next to my bed made me get up!  Not my favorite way to wake up!

After I cleaned up the mess, I had a cup of coffee and spent a relaxed morning, reading blogs and commenting on them, etc.  I put away my almsgiving preparations folder in the file cabinet for another year, pulled out my Christmas file folder, and wrote out my gift list.  Yes, Christmas is a week from today, I have about 35 people on my gift list, and I have bought exactly one gift and made a couple of others.  More on that, later!

Later in the afternoon, I took a nap.  I slept for about an hour and dozed on and off for another half an hour, much to a certain kitty's distress!  He kept meowing at me to wake up and feed him his tuna treats!   Eventually, I got up, fed him and the garden cats, and had a cup of coffee.

After my nap, I felt energetic and was quite productive!  I emptied the waste baskets, took the trash out and took the big trash can to the curb, vacuumed the living room and dining area, put away the washed almsgiving dishes, washed a few other dishes that had been in the sink, took down some of the Christmas dishes, and cleaned daughter's bathroom which the guests used, yesterday.  Then, did a  load of laundry.  Once the load of laundry has dried and put away (table cloths and napkins used during the almsgiving), all evidence of the almsgiving would be erased.  I also called friend R to check on her and to thank her for all her help, yesterday.

Another friend of mine, A, called me in the evening to invite daughter and me to Christmas lunch.  One of my cousins, too, had invited us, but in the evening, to dinner.  So, we will go to my friend's place, first, and then to the family gathering, afterwards.

How was your Monday?  Are you all done with Christmas shopping and making gifts?  Or, are you a last minute shopper, like me?  Yes, I've been known to go shopping on Christmas Eve!

  1. The almsgiving was a success, including the cleanup. Now you can relax a little. :)

    1. Yes. I really don't have any other functions to prepare for until next year's rosary gathering! Well, there's Christmas, of course, and I still need to get the gifts ready, but I might just do gift cards again, this year, and that's easy. :)

  2. It'll be nice for you not to have to cook for Christmas at all after all you did this past weekend! Good luck on the shopping/present making. Are you working at all this week? Will you have time to get it all done?

I've been picking up cat barf daily as well. Once again the cats (well certain cats and I can never tell which one it is!) are having hairball issues, I guess I just need to brush/comb them more often, which I really should do anyway because of the flea situation.
    Enjoy your Christmas preparations!

    1. Yes, most years, I don't have to cook for Christmas. If we are not invited out or we are not able to go due to health reasons, we just have what is in the fridge or freezer.

I'm working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Daughter comes home Thursday night and so, I've taken Friday off and I'll be off till Jan. 7 or 8. I am looking forward to spending those two weeks at home, relaxing and maybe doing things with daughter (she'll be here for those two weeks).

We've planned to go shopping on Friday. If I can't find gifts, I will buy gift cards. That will be fine, too.

I probably should comb Dancer more often, too. Shall try to do that tonight, when I come home.

Hope you are having a good day, Nathalie.

  3. What a great and productive day you had. So extra sleep will do that for you? I guess I need to try that. Once your daughter arrives home, you both will be very, very busy. I hope the stores won't be too crowded. They were for me today, probably because people stayed home yesterday because of the snow. I am hoping not to have to go out much after today.

    1. The extra sleep also made it hard for me to fall asleep at night, but what else is new, right? I hope the stores won't be too crowded, but, Friday is a working day, so it shouldn't be too bad.

  4. Dancer has a rather unfortunate means of self-expression, it seems! Still, I guess after the success of the alms giving you were not too put out. At least it didn't happen then.
That's great that Christmas Day will be your day to be on the receiving end of hospitality! As for Christmas shopping, I'm sure you will find what you want. I'm still not quite finished, but I did some grocery shopping today and the freezer is well stocked but I somehow forgot to pick up a turkey! There is still time. My cold progressed to the laryngitis stage today but at least my nose has stopped dripping. When I recover I will get some baking done, but in the meantime I have been able to do some decorating and DH vacuumed for me while I was out. Most of the presents are wrapped. I need to send one or two e-cards, all of the snail mail cards having been sent. Today I remembered to pick up 3 birthday cards for birthdays at the end of December and beginning of January. I'd hate for them to get forgotten in the flurry of Christmas preparation.

    1. I am just glad that I no longer have wall to wall carpeting! Hardwood floors are much easier to clean when cats throw up!

Sorry to hear you've now got laryngitis, but hopefully, you don't have to sing in the choir for the next couple of days. Hot drinks with honey are supposed to help.

I will probably do a little shopping tomorrow, for gifts. My "default" gifts will be gift cards; most of the young people prefer that and they can do the work of shopping for what they want and I am fine with that! :)
