Wednesday: More Medical Appointments and Blood Tests

Today, I went to my first doctor's appointment in the morning.  My appointment was at 8:00 a.m., so I left the house a little before 7:00 a.m. and was there on time.  But I didn't see the doctor until 9:00 a.m.  It was a good visit, though.  She went over the lab test results with me.  The pap test results were all clear and normal.  A couple of the blood test results were higher than normal, so the physician assistant wanted me to do some additional follow up blood tests.  I went to the lab and got those done, right away.  I have a follow up appointment to go over those results in two weeks' time.

On the way home, I stopped at the pharmacy and bought another bottle of Tylenol to have on hand.

Came home and responded to office emails.  Even though I had informed my supervisor that I had medical appointments scheduled for today, she had forgotten about them.

After that, I went to my second doctor's appointment and was seen by the radiation oncologist.  He, too, went over the MRI results and blood test results with me, but he didn't seem overly concerned about the higher than normal results.  I have a follow up appointment with him in two months' time.

It was a sunny, warm afternoon, today, but I didn't go for a walk.  Instead, I spent the rest of the afternoon and early part of the evening doing office work.

Today, I am grateful for:
- Safe drives to the medical appointments and back
- Mostly good test results
- Additional blood work to further test the other results
- Good medical care
- Phone calls from family, emails from friends, and video chatting with daughter

I had to be fasting for my blood tests in the morning, so I had a nutritional drink for breakfast, afterwards.  Lunch was a banana and some crackers, eaten on the run.  Dinner was a salad (Romaine lettuce, carrots, cucumber), two more baked breaded fish fillets, and the last of a bag of frozen corn, with blackberries and yogurt for dessert.

    1. That's so nice that you got to enjoy an unexpected visit from your daughter. Getting together with family and enjoying each others company is what it is all about, isn't it?

We are having hazy sunshine, but rain is in the forecast for tonight. It is supposed to be 62F outside, but I haven't been out, yet, and have the heater on inside the house because I am feeling cold!

  2. Wednesday was a good day for me as we had my work holiday party. It was a pot luck which always has the best food. I'm glad that your doctor's appointments are going well. It's looking more and more like dehydration may have been the culprit in your fainting.

    1. Oh, those office potlucks are the best, aren't they? I always enjoy them. This year, my colleagues went out to lunch, but I couldn't join them because I had my medical appointments (they went out, yesterday). Yes, dehydration seems to be the cause! I should have known better, but, apparently I didn't!

  4. What a busy medical day! Still, probably better to get it over with in one day rather than two. Good that you seem to be eating well, when you are not having to fast for tests!

We are getting into some real winter now. Translating to fahrenheit, we are around 3° now and may be down to -5° tonight. I'm not thrilled! We are going out in the evening and I'd rather hunker down at home with a good book, but I know the home we are visiting will have a cosy fire in the woodstove.

    1. It was a busy day, but I didn't want to reschedule appointments, as they are so hard to get.

Brr! That is COLD! Bundle up warmly when you do go out, and stay close to that fireplace!

  5. Glad the appointments went well! My Wednesday was pretty good. Despite the cold and snow I went out to lunch with a couple of friends. Rang my Mum and found out that her scan results came back all clear! She doesn't have to have another for six months! So happy!

  6. I'm glad that your pap test came back normal. :) That has got to be a relief after all you have gone through my friend. Praying that the follow up blood test results show that you are back in the normal range again. :)
