Hat and Scarf - Whodunit?

Package in the Mail
I received a package in the mail, yesterday.  And the stamp said "Royal Mail"!  As you can imagine, it was a bit out of the ordinary!  Especially since I wasn't expecting anything in the mail, royal or otherwise!  The customs label said "fabric hat".

Inside, there were two smaller packages:

One was a lovely, soft scarf:

Quite large and square; the pattern looks like interwoven lace!

The other item was a fabric hat; black, with a braided trimming with beads, and two fabric roses at the back:

Sorry, the picture doesn't do it justice:

There was a card from the company:

Card

It says:  "Angels from up above, Please protect those we love" and thanks me for shopping with them and hopes that I am happy with my purchase and enjoy wearing my headwear and that they will be around when I need them, and if I think there is something they can improve on, please feel free to send them my comments.

But it doesn't tell me who sent it!  Because I didn't order the items they sent.  Which must mean that someone else ordered it and had it sent to me.  Someone who knew my name and address and even my phone number (since that was included on the mailing label).

I wish I knew who sent it because then, I could thank them personally for this very thoughtful gift.  I checked with my daughter to see if she was responsible for it, but she says no, it wasn't from her (although, now, she wishes it was! :D  )

So, to the anonymous person who sent me this lovely gift, THANK YOU!  I truly appreciate the gift of the new headwear.

  3. Sounds like one of the many helpful volunteer agencies who would choose items deemed helpful. 'Royal' mail is a term used in Great Britain, does package postage offer any clues? If there is a return address it would be appropriate to send your note of appreciation/acknowledgement to be forwarded to the donor. My guess is Bushlady or Purdy Bear, what's your guess?

    1. Hon, the package is mailed from Britain; the return mail is in London, UK. I have a couple of clues: the first is how my last name is spelled - an alternative spelling that only a Sri Lankan would know; the second is, one of my aunts said her daughter-in-law wanted to know my address. Aunt thought she might send me a card, but now, I am wondering if she sent me this lovely gift, instead. Aunt and her daughter are visiting me today; I shall ask them if they think it was a gift from who I think it might be. Aunt's d-i-l is a lovely person, but her son keeps his distance from me for some reason, so, any thanks will have to be sent through aunt. Ah, family dynamics! As someone else said to me, we put the "fun" in dysfunctional! :D

  4. That is amazing - and so is whoever sent it. Which company is it from, because that scarf looks luscious!

    1. Lyssa, the company is UK based and is called Deresina; they specialize in headwear for people with cancer, alopecia, etc., although, I am sure the scarves can be worn by anyone. Their website is www.deresina.co.uk.

    2. Thank you. I am fortunate that I don't need the scarf. I am glad that beautiful things are there for people who do need them, though. I'm UK based, and may look into it anyway. Thank you for sharing xxx

  5. What a nice and thoughtful surprise! It is always uplifting to receive a gift in the mail- you deserve a nice treat.
We received a nice Halloween care package in the mail yesterday with some goodies for the kids and even a couple for me (except I knew who sent the package to us!)
I hope you find out who sent you the lovely gift- the suspense would be driving me crazy- haha. I don't think you have ever posted any personal info on your blog so it's probably someone you know personally. Maybe the company who sent the order could tell you who it came from. Or maybe you can just wait and see if someone owns up to sending it. :)

    1. Dawn, that's so nice that you and the kids received a Halloween care package!

I've a couple of clues as to who might have sent me the gift - I suspect a cousin's wife! (See my response to Hon Min's comment, above). I shall ask my aunt (she and her daughter will be visiting me today), if she thinks her daughter-in-law might be responsible for this gift. Aunt could quietly ask her and convey my thanks. :)
