Restful Sunday

Peruvian Lily (Alstroemeria psittacina)
Blooming through the pomegranate leaves

Another cool (high of 68F) and cloudy day.  There was no sun at all, today, and it was quite humid, too, having rained a little bit, very early in the morning.

I decided to have a restful day, although I did clean my bathroom and Dancer's litter box.  He received his twice daily eye medication (does not like it) and twice daily ear medication (tolerates it) and the once daily probiotics (loves it!)  I spent a cozy afternoon on the living room sofa, with the electric space heater on, watching some online videos and knitting on my socks.

Later in the evening, I moved to the family room to watch news and some TV and knitted.

Neighbor S called me in the evening to offer me more food and I accepted with a grateful heart and gave her a bag of freshly picked blueberries in return:

Treats Compliments of Neighbor S

S gave me a plate with lahmajoon (Armenian pizza), some cheese burek (cheese filled puff pastry triangles), and a type of flat bread with a filling inside, another plate with pieces of watermelon, and a plate of sweets - mini halva (the little round pastries with powdered sugar on top), cream puffs, and Napoleons.

Brunch had been the leftover French toast from Saturday (with the addition of bacon on the side).  Dinner was two of the Armenian pizzas, some of the watermelon, and a cream puff for dessert!

Later, I video chatted with my daughter.

On Sunday, I was grateful for:
- The space heaters
- A restful day
- Gifts of food from neighbor S
- Blueberries from the garden
- Being able to video chat with my daughter

Sunday's joyful activity was knitting.  Eating cream puffs was joyful, too!  LOL!

Plans for Monday include:

- Regular Monday cleaning routines
- Laundry
- Meal planning
- Knitting

How was your Sunday?  What are your plans for Monday?

  1. So pleased to see you have an Alstroemeria, my Indian Summer plant is lovely and comes back every year and I've recently bought an Inca Bandit variety. Your treats look delicious, how fortunate you are to have such a generous neighbour.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; the Alstroemeria that I have was given to me by my gardener M - he planted a handful of bulbs, one year and they have been coming up and flowering every year. The flowers on your Indian Summer must be very colorful and the Inca Bandit would be lovely, too (I looked up the pictures of the flowers). The treats are wonderful and I am very blessed to have such a generous neighbor. :)

  2. I am sorry to read that Dancer is having some further health issues. Thankfully you got him to the vets to ward off any complications. You'll lucky that you can sprinkle his medication of his food & he eats it. Pilling a cat requires 4 sets of hands, all wearing protective gloves & body wear (lol). How kind that your neighbours bring you food & so interesting & tasty.

    1. Thank you, Mary-Lou. I worry when Dancer gets ill, partly because he's now getting on in years. I am glad that I don't have to give him any pills, because I know I'd have hard time doing it! He's such a finicky cat when it comes to his food that I was pleasantly surprised by how much he seems to like this probiotics powder!
I am truly blessed to have a very kind and generous neighbor who shares some wonderful treats with me. Especially since they are not dishes I would normally make, myself.

    1. It was all very good, June, and I have leftovers for today, as well. I hope you'll enjoy Armenian pizza if and when you try some. I really like it. :)

  4. I never saw a Peruvian Lilly before. It is lovely. It seems that probiotics have cured the problem with Dancer being picky about his soft food! How nice to have the food from S to give you something off your menu to enjoy.
We are still having cool weather and using the heat this morning, and it has been raining for quite a while, which I don't complain at as I don't like having to water the garden! My rambling rose and the large poppies are in bud, and I discovered that I still have a miniature rose that I planted outside after its time in a pot was done. I would love to see it bloom again.

    1. There are several different varieties of Alstroemeria and they are all called Peruvian Lily; you might have seen some of the other varieties, with frillier flower petals as cut flowers in arrangements. The one I have growing in my garden is also called Parrot Lily.
I am amazed at how much Dancer likes the probiotics powder!
And the food from S is very welcome and makes a nice change from my usual meals. :)
Sounds like we are both having similar weather. Today's high here is 69F. Your garden will be full of flowers, soon, and how lovely to have the miniature rose plant survive! I hope it will bloom again for you. :)

  7. You certainly have had a cool spring this year. I know you are hoping things warm up soon.
More delicious food from neighbor S. I noticed eating the cream puffs was on your grateful list. A well deserved entry I'd say.
A relaxing cozy day is always a good thing.

    1. Yes, it has been unusually cool this year. But, it's sunny and warm, today (78F currently, at almost 4:00 p.m.). I am happy! :)
Cream puffs are not something I would normally buy for myself, so, when I am given one, it is definitely a treat! :)
