Car Service on Tuesday

More Coreopsis

Thank you, everyone, on the kind comments about the crazy socks I knitted!  I wore them to bed and they kept my feet warm and actually stayed on my feet the whole night!

On Tuesday, I took the car in for a service.  It took about 2 1/2 hours, but, the waiting area was comfortable and I had taken my prayer book and another book to read while I waited.

Afterwards, I drove home and made myself some tuna salad for brunch.  Then, relaxed for a bit, before canning the peaches I had picked. I had given the better quality fruit to my friends and kept the ones that had some bruising, so, I had to cut off much of the bruised bits, which meant I didn't have that much left to can.  But, I am happy with the jars of cinnamon spiced peaches that I canned.

Later in the evening, I watered the back garden.  I was going to wait until M arrived on Wednesday to water, but, the tomato plants were wilting, so, I thought it would be good to give them, and some of the fruit trees, a drink of water!

Dinner was leftovers from last night's dinner.  I haven't made a meal plan for this week, but, I still have leftover soup and leftover pasta sauce, so there will be soup and pasta during the week.

On Tuesday, I was grateful for:

- Getting the car serviced without any major issues
- A safe drive to the service center and back
- The peach harvest
- Water for the garden
- Phone calls and emails from friends

Today's joyful activity was canning and preserving more of the peaches.

Plans for Wednesday include tending to the garden with M and getting some housework done.

How was your Tuesday?  What are your plans for Wednesday?

  1. It's all about perspective and mindset. I think if it had been me, my joyful activity wouldn't have been canning peaches, but I would be joyful when they were done. :) Canning is a lot of hard work.

    1. Yes, it is a lot of work, but, I enjoy the process. There is joy in picking the produce from the garden, there's joy in the knowledge that you are preserving what you grew. And there is joy in looking forward to enjoying what you preserved. :)

    2. And if you focus on the right things, as you just did, joy can be found most places.

    3. Yes, as you said earlier, "It's all about perspective and mindset." :) I included two jars of the canned peaches in the care package I'm hoping to send with her friends who are going up to spend the weekend with her.

  3. Good to know that there were no major issues with the car maintenance. Cinnamon spiced peaches sound delicious, I'm sure your friends appreciated the peaches you gifted to them.
I got caught in a rain shower today but was pleased to see Yasmine the horse using her shelter, I hadn't seen her the day before and i was worried about her.The weather forecast for tomorrow seems good so I may go out for the day now my eyes aren't so sore.

    1. Thank you, Eileen; yes, the car is in fairly good shape, especially since I am not driving it as much as I used to.
The spiced peaches will by good for eating with a little ice cream or custard, but, I've had them with yogurt and that's good, too.
Sorry you got caught in a rain shower, but, nice to know that Yasmine is using her shelter. I wonder if she worries about you being out in the rain. :)
Glad to read that your eyes aren't so sore anymore. I hope you will be able to have a lovely day out, tomorrow (if the weather is good and you decide to go out).

  4. I'm glad you had a comfortable waiting area as 2 1/2 hours is a long time! But at least you had gone prepared. The Coreopsis are lovely. I've spent longer than I cared this morning deciding on a florist and floral bouquet for DGD's birthday, as I haven't been able to get anything else to her yet. Ordering things on-line can be so wearying! But it is useful.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady. The place was nice and warm (last time I went, in February, they had the air conditioner on and I was freezing!), plus they had a big screen TV (which I didn't watch as it was showing a football game and I wasn't interested in the teams who were playing).
The problem with ordering online is there is too much choice! I'm sure your DGD will be thrilled to receive a bouquet of flowers from you on her birthday. :)

  5. Glad your car checkup went well. I remember the last time you had that big bill - at least I think it was the last time.
I meant to mention a few posts back how I was glad you stopped on the way home and got some carryout. (your fried rice). You haven't done that in a while and it's a nice treat.

    1. Thank you, Debra; I think the big bill was from a couple of services ago, but, it was a big one, wasn't it?
Yes, it's been several months since I last bought carryout, hasn't it? I just sort of lost my appetite for the usual fast food, but, the fried rice was suggested by my daughter and it appealed to me. :)

  6. It is reassuring to know your car is in good order. I had mine serviced last month, before we went away. Luckily the garage is close by, so I could drop it off before going to work, then pick it up again before collecting Lily at the end of the school day. X

    1. Thank you, Jules; this service center offers a free drop off, but, you have to find your way back when the car is ready and that is not convenient for me, so I prefer to wait at the service center. Glad you were able to get your car serviced and the garage is close by for easy drop off and pick up. :)
