Gloomy Monday and a Not Really a Plan Meal Plan!

Baby Tomatoes

Another cloudy and cool Monday, with a high of 69F.

Today, I did a load of laundry, dusted and vacuumed the living room and dining area, gave Dancer his medications and cleaned his litter box, picked more blueberries, picked some peaches (weighed them and there were 9 lbs. of peaches), did the dishes, and took the trash cans to the curb (I kept them in front of the driveway as usual, but, later, I noticed that someone had lined them up neatly along the curb!  Wonder who did that?)  I also watered the two indoor plants that I have (the third one is a rooted cutting that is growing in water, which I haven't potted up, yet).

I also cleared the small dining table that is in the family room, although I mostly put what was on the table in the bookcase I got from neighbor T.  I am not sure if that is cheating or not!  LOL.  It was mostly files and paperwork and some of it is destined to be stored in the garage and the rest of it is meant to be filed in the new filing cabinet.  So, the bookcase is, actually, a temporary holding space for them, until I sort through them.  Not ideal, by any means, but, it did get the table cleared!  I need that table to start processing the peaches that I picked today, since I don't have a kitchen table (no room in the kitchen for one).  All the cutting and chopping and weighing and measuring get done at this table.  My plan is to make a batch of chutney with the peaches I picked today.  That is the plan for tomorrow.

Meal Planning:

I was supposed to make a meal plan for this week, but, I've decided to just finish up the leftovers before I plan anything else!  There a little rice (I'm thinking I'll make fried rice), mackerel curry gravy (will be good with leftover lavash), pasta and sauce, enough egg salad and bacon for one sandwich, lahmajoon, and burek.  Once all that is over, I will maybe make some soup and there will be leftovers from that!

Brunch today was the cheese filled flat bread that neighbor S gave me.  The cheese filling was a bit spicy, which surprised and pleased me; I enjoyed it very much.

Dinner was some of the leftover rice, shrimp curry, and cucumber salad.  With a fresh peach and a cream puff for dessert!  The peach was good; the cream puff was delicious!

Today, I am grateful for:

- All the blog comments
- Fresh fruit from the garden
- Working appliances
- Dancer's eye seems to be a bit better and he's not sneezing as much
- What I was able to accomplish

Today's joyful activities included picking fresh fruit from the garden and chatting with my daughter.

Plans for tomorrow include making peach chutney and bringing in the trash cans.  I'm not sure if I'd be able to do much more than that!

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

  1. I can't tell you how envious I am that you can pick so many peaches from your garden and you are going to have a crop of tomatoes too. I'm happy to know that Dancer is getting better.

    1. There are many more peaches on the tree still Eileen. I only picked what I can deal with at one time! On Wednesday, I'll ask M to pick the ones at the top; he'll need to climb a ladder to get to them.
Thank you; yes, Dancer is getting better.

  2. I think it's a good idea to use the bookcase as a staging area until you have time to put things in their proper place. It keeps your table clear and makes things look neat. Like Eileen, I'm envious of your peaches, too.

    1. Thank you, June; that's exactly what the bookcase is - a staging area! I was glad to have that table cleared, today, because I needed all the space to process the peaches for the chutney I am making. There are more peaches on the tree - if you can stop by within the next few days, you can help yourself to some! :)

  3. Today (Tuesday) has been rather lazy. My 12.00 lesson cancelled, so I watched some fairly trashy (but shamingly addictive!) TV instead. Mr FD went to do the shopping so I did laundry and cleared cat litter trays. This afternoon I have a lesson soon and I took the recycling to the recycling bins. That's about it.

  4. You must have a neat freak in your neighbourhood that likes to line up trash cans! The extra bookcase is turning out to be a good organizer while you need the table for cutting the peaches. Eating leftovers will be less work and give you energy for making the chutney!
We had so much rain in the night and everything is nice and green. We took our truck to have the small side cab window replaced, then we had various errands. We are ready for some sunshine for a change.

    1. I suspect it was neighbor S or her husband who lined up the trash cans because they had asked if they could use my cans for their overflow trash and recycling and I had said yes. This morning, I saw that the blue recycling bin had been put down on its side after being emptied, but, by the time I went to bring the trash cans in, someone had set it upright. Then, neighbor S called out a good morning to me and she said she put the trash can upright; she said she had wanted to bring them in for me, but, was afraid that I might be sleeping and she didn't want to disturb me. :D
Yes, the bookcase is a holding/staging area! The stuff (mostly files) are less noticeable in the bookcase and I have the table clear to process the peaches. The new kitchen towels came in useful, too, because I was dripping peach juice everywhere!
I'm glad for the leftovers because making the chutney tired me out!
Glad you had plenty of rain and things are greening up. Sounds like you had a busy day! Hope you get plenty of sunshine; there's some sunshine, here, too! :)

  5. Lots of good food in your refrigerator. You will create some good meals from those offerings.
9 Lbs of peaches! Wow - that tree is really producing.
I was thinking it was interesting that the trashcans were moved and then I see where you're assuming it was T's children nice they were using them. Mystery solved.

    1. There was enough food in the fridge to see me through the week for meals, although I did make some soup because I took a turkey carcass out of the freezer to make room for some peaches!
It was neighbor S's husband who lined up the trash cans (he told me) and the next day, S saw one had been knocked down (sometimes, they fall down when the mechanical arm of the trash truck sets them down after being emptied) and stood it upright for me (she told me). :)
