Dandelion |
Friday was a more productive day than Thursday. I put away the laundry from yesterday and did another load which is hanging up to dry. I picked a few more snow pea pods from the garden and, when M was here to tend to the garden in the evening, we planted a few more green beans that had sprouted and a jacaranda seedling that had been growing in a pot (M grew it from a seed). I also cleaned the bathroom, which is on my weekly cleaning schedule for Fridays. In between, I sewed a few more patches on the quilt I am repairing. And, in the evening, I walked for 20 minutes. I wasn't experiencing any discomfort, but, I didn't want to try and push for 25 minutes.
Brunch was more sardines on toast and dinner was chicken curry and lavash bread. I had some cereal, grapes, and strawberries as snacks.
Today, I am grateful for:
- Feeling more energetic
- What I was able to accomplish
- M helping with the garden
- TV shows to watch
- Working appliances.
Today's joyful activities included gardening with M and video chatting with my daughter.
Plans for tomorrow include a little more housework and sewing.
What are your plans for the weekend?
It sounds like your low key Thursday did you the world of good and your energy levels are back to normal. It's the early Bank Holiday Monday on the 1st of May so I expect plenty of tourists about this weekend so I'll not be venturing out as the roads will be busy.
ReplyDeleteTaking a day to just relax did help, Eileen. I hope you have good weather over the bank holiday weekend so you can enjoy spending time in the garden. May 1st is not a holiday over here, but, we get one at the end of May for Memorial Day, instead.
DeleteSo glad to hear that you feel a lot better today, Bless, you have to listen to your body and rest when it tells you to I think. Re the comment yesterday about foxes, we have seen the local fox several times on our security camera and we were amazed to see a badger too a couple of nights ago!
ReplyDeleteHubby is working today so I'm going to our daughter's house this afternoon for home made pizza. It will be lovely to catchup with the grandchildren to see how their exams are going.
Have a lovely weekend Bless x
Thank you, Angela. I feel guilty if I don't do any housework or things I consider to be "productive", but, some days, I just don't feel up to doing anything much. Oh, wow, foxes and a badger, too! I don't think I've ever seen a badger!
DeleteI hope you are having a lovely time at your daughter's, enjoying homemade pizza and spending time with the grandchildren. :)
20 minutes is a decent amount of time by any standards. Good job! I was curious, so I looked up what lavash bread is. Looks like breads from many other cultures with different names. Did you make yours?
ReplyDeleteThank you, June. I was happy to walk for 20 minutes, yesterday.
DeleteLavash is a type of flat bread. I received some Armenian lavash from neighbor S; that's what I've been having. It reminds me a bit of a different type of flat bread or roti we make in Sri Lanka (not the kind I usually make with grated coconut, but a type where the dough is steeped in oil overnight and then, stretched out thinly and cooked on a hot griddle).
You had a good Friday with your cleaning and got a lot done and also got your walking in so an all around productive day.
ReplyDeleteYou are still eating sardines and I am still eating kale lol
Thank you, Debra. Yes, Friday was a good, productive day. :)
DeleteToo funny about us both eating our leftovers! I usually buy a small can of sardines, which usually contain 2-3 sardines; just enough for one or two meals. But, this can was a large can (15 oz.) since that was what the store had available at the time. I bought a couple of cans because my daughter was also home at the time, and we ate one, but, the other can stayed in the pantry cupboard. I still have about half the can left, but, I'll eat it over the next couple of days. :) Good luck with your kale!
That pic is such a glorious colour and I now have a craving for sardines on toast
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lyssa. Sardines on toast was such a treat when I was growing up!
DeleteI hope your Jacaranda seedling results in a lovely tree with blossoms! I remember seeing them all over Buenos Aires in November 2019.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a good day to be outside and I had a long walk, first to the mailbox and then down to the river and back, then did a little raking and swept the front porch. Today it is raining and the same is forecast for Sunday. We haven't really planned much. I've been reading a lot and only puttering at housework.
Thank you, Bushlady. We planted the jacaranda in the middle of the circle where the succulents are growing (pulled out a few of the succulents to make room for the jacaranda).
DeleteYou accomplished a lot yesterday! Hope you enjoy a relaxed weekend. There's rain in our forecast for next week!
I love Dandelions. They are such wonderful wildflowers. I love their detailed middle part. Glad you are keeping up with the walking!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon; dandelions are such cheerful flowers, aren't they? I walked for another 20 minutes, today, too. I think it is becoming a habit, now. :)
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling much brighter for a rest. My lawn is covered in dandelions at the moment. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules. A day of rest was just what I needed. :) I've been reading up on the benefits of dandelion; apparently it's a powerhouse of good nutrition and other benefits!
