Post Thanksgiving Monday

Dancer Sleeps it Off!

Eating turkey makes you sleepy, they say - I guess they are right!  Dancer didn't even make it to his usual perch on the top of the sofa back!

I, on the other hand, couldn't sleep last night, even after eating leftover turkey for dinner.  It was past 4:00 a.m. when I finally fell asleep.  So, when I woke up at 9:00 a.m., I turned off the porch lights, fed the cats (Dancer and Mama Cat), went back to bed, and slept for another couple of hours!

After I woke up for the second time, I had my morning tea and got going with my day.  I did another load of laundry, hung everything up to dry, dusted the living room and dining area, took down and put away the fall decorations, and took the trash cans to the end of the driveway.

Later, I sewed on a few more replacement patches to the quilt.  I think I will have to cut out a lot more triangles!

I had Thanksgiving leftovers for brunch, today, and more leftovers (salmon, mashed potatoes, cucumber salad) for dinner, along with the last piece of sweet cornbread for dessert.  I believe I'm coming to the end of the leftovers, other than a small piece of turkey and a tiny bit of cranberry sauce!

Today, I am grateful for:
- Being able to sleep in
- Working appliances
- Hot water on tap
- Leftovers
- Keeping in touch with family and friends

Today's joyful activity was playing with fabric.

Tomorrow, I have a doctor's appointment at noon.  I'll do another load of laundry and some housekeeping in the afternoon.

How was your Monday?  What are your plans for Tuesday?

That picture of Dancer and your commentary cracked me up!
I'm glad you were able to go back to sleep yesterday morning. You would've been quite tired with only 4 hours of sleep.
You are working your way through some tasty leftovers.
I froze half of the pumpkin pie and have put some nice packages of lasagna in the freezer (and the ice cream cake lives there) so all of my Thanksgiving leftovers are death with. It's nice to have a bit of room in my refrigerator again.
I'm planning on a nice pot of my quick bean soup for this chilly day.

    1. He's like a melted cat, isn't he?
I really, really need to get back on a better sleep schedule, but, I am very thankful that I can now return to bed if I feel like it!
At the rate I'm eating the leftovers, I might have to cook something, for tonight's dinner! LOL. I do have some soup that I should finish. Your quick bean soup sounds good.

    1. That they can! He was too tired to pull himself up and decided to just sleep where he was! LOL.
Thank you, Celie. It's been a good day, so far - not super productive, but, that's because I'm being lazy! Hope you, too, have had a good day. :)

  3. Dancer looks worn out!

Being able to sleep in/go back to bed is one of the positives about retirement isn't it, and you still had a productive day when you did get up.

I've been pottering about at home, sorting the cupboards (still), placing orders and playing the piano. It's been a good day. x

    1. Dancer ate too much turkey, I think! :D

I love the fact that I am free to sleep in if that's what I want to do (although I often feel guilty about it!)

Sounds like you've had a very good day! I had been meaning to ask you how the piano playing was coming along, since you haven't mentioned having lessons (I think you mentioned taking the holiday season off?)

  4. Oh my goodness, what has Dancer been up to? He looks as if he has been celebrating quite excessively! I see you are working on your triangles on the quilt and I'm sure it won't take you long to restore it to its former glory. I hope the doctor's appointment went well.
Staying in today and puttering. I had planned to visit my friend, getting DH to drive me one way, but she called back to say that her health visitor was due today, so we will get together another time.

    1. Dancer reminds me of those melting clocks in Dali's paintings! :D He was clearly tired that evening! :)

I've sewn about 10 triangles, so far, and I haven't even finished the first row! This is going to be a long term project, I think!

The doctor's appointment went well, thank you. I thought she might scold me about a couple of the lab test results and my weight, but, she didn't! :)

I'm sure you found things to keep you occupied during your day at home. I hope you have a fun visit with your friend when you are able to visit her, next. :)
