Martha at Seaside Simplicity is hosting a Thanksgiving Photo Scavenger Hunt - the goal is to photograph one thing for each of the letters that spell "THANKFUL". I chose to photograph something that I was thankful for that started with each letter.
1. T - Tea - my favorite Ceylon tea, in my favorite cup.

2. H - Home - it is small (until I go to clean it, then, it is too big!), it's old and in need of some TLC, but, it's my haven, especially these days!

3. A - Appliances that work and make it easier to cook and clean, etc. Everything from the fridge/freezer to my rice cooker.

4. N - Napkins - These are ones that I made, back when I was a teenager! Hand embroidered and drawn thread work around the hems. There were six, originally, but, one of the yellow ones got badly stained and got tossed!

5. K - Kitty - He's definitely in my heart to stay!

6. F - Fruit from the garden

7. U - Unicorns, of course!

Thank you, Martha, for organizing this Thanksgiving Photo Scavenger Hunt.
Excellent Bless! I love the way you did something you were thankful for for each letter. Your favorite tea cup is so pretty and I absolutely love the napkins you made back when you were just a teen. Of course you are thankful for your sweet Kitty and fruit from your garden, and leftovers are the best! Thanks so much for playing along! I had lots who said they would do the hunt but only a couple linked up. Still two days to go. Hopefully we will get more to join the fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I enjoyed joining in, but, I needed an extra day to put it together. Hope you'll have more people linking up before the end of the weekend.
DeleteThat was fun, Bless. Do you still use the napkins?
DeleteI haven't used them in a long time, because they need ironing after every wash! I think I was 15 when I sewed those napkins!
DeleteAwesome! I love pomegranates (we have a tree but it didn't even bloom this year). I too love kitties (my favorite pet). Your napkins are terrific...each one a work of art. Truly. Your beautiful home has a southwest look to it...do you live in southwest USA perhaps? I really enjoyed your thankful. Glad you stopped by so I could visit with YOU.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I live in southern California, so your guess is quite accurate!
DeleteOoo, another scavenger hunt. Great choice of photos and I like that your were about to choose things that you're thankful for. No 5 is obviously the best one!
ReplyDeleteI think it's too late for me to do this one but I will keep a look out for any others that Martha organises.
Thank you, Eileen. I'm sorry; maybe I should have mentioned the scavenger hunt when I first learned about it, last week. I'll be sure to let you know if there is another one.
DeleteAh, yes, No. 5 is special, isn't he? :D
Great photographs, Bless. I've just put Lily to bed and now I'm going to have to make a cup of tea :)
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely home. X
Thank you, Jules. Enjoy your cup of tea. :)
DeleteBeautiful photos! I love your cup. It looks lovely and delicate. Your home looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing the photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. The cup is part of a set my daughter gave me for my 50th birthday. :)
DeleteWhat amazing work you put into those lovely embroidered napkins as a teenager! I wonder how many teenagers today do embroidery like that?
ReplyDeleteI see Dancer managed to get into the list! He could have been there for A - adorable, H - handsome, I - intelligent, F - feisty .....I think he could enter any CATegory!
Thank you, Bushlady. I was discovering the pleasure of sewing back then, after hating it when I had to learn sewing at school. My sewing teacher, Miss P, was very exacting about stitch length and formation, etc., I could never sew small enough and evenly enough to please her! I was so happy when I didn't have sewing at school after 8th grade! But, a couple of years later, I found myself embroidering and sewing for pleasure! Miss P wasn't there to criticize my sewing and my mother, who could whip up anything on her sewing machine, but, didn't like to do hand embroidery, was encouraging. She bought me a couple of books with embroidery designs and the fact that they were in Japanese didn't phase me. I just followed the diagrams and taught myself the stitches. I had those books until fairly recently, when I decluttered them!
DeleteHa, ha, any CATegory! I like that! :D
Great photos, Bless. I love photo scavenger hunts, but missed several hunts past few months.
ReplyDeleteI love your hand embroidered napkins. Is that herringbone stitch? I used to do hand embroidery when I was a teenager, and herringbone stitch was one of my favorites because it was easier for me than satin stitch. 😊
Thank you, Nil. Yes, it is herringbone stitch and I agree with you - much easier than satin stitch! :)
DeleteI love how you tweaked the challenge a bit to use items you were thankful for.
ReplyDeleteAnd these are great things to mention.
Those napkins are so pretty, Bless. And to think you made them so young. They are very nice.
And of course, there is sweet Dancer.
Thank you, Debra. Well, it was a Thanksgiving photo hunt, so, what better items than those I am thankful for? :) I actually had multiple items for some of the letters, but, decided to go with one item.
DeleteThank you, Debra; I really should use those napkins more often than I do.
Well, yes, Dancer has to be included, too! :D
