Wednesday's Activities

Another warm day!  106F at 3:00 p.m.!  The air quality is considered to be still poor, but, it was a little less hazy, today.  I was even able to detect a hint of blue in the sky!  A hazy blue, but, blue, nonetheless!

Today, in the morning, I called the radiology center to confirm my afternoon appointment.  I don't know what made me confirm their location, too, but, I am so glad that I did, because apparently, I was to go to a different location than the one listed on the letter of authorization!  I don't know if they have several different locations or, if the address on the letter is where their headquarters are located!  But, I went to the location the person on the phone told me to go to.  I had been there, before, and one good thing about this location is that they have free parking!  In any case, I went early enough for the appointment that I could drive to the other location if necessary!  But, apparently, I was at the right place.  I had to fill out some papers, but, was called in early, before my appointment time, and I had all three procedures done - a mammogram, an ultrasound, and a bone density scan.  The technicians were very pleasant and cheerful, which I appreciated very much.  The results will be sent to my oncologist's office and I will find out the diagnosis when I go for my appointment in October (unless I am notified earlier).

I had showered in the morning, before I went to my appointment, but, when I came home, I realized that I had to shower again, in order to remove all the gel they put on me for the ultrasound and all the touching of machines and my hair touching the surfaces on which I had to lie down for the ultrasound and bone density scan!  I generally don't wash my hair twice a day, but, I did so, today!  It's squeaky clean, now!  LOL.

I called neighbor T in the morning before I left and checked on her.  She said she was a bit shaken up and sore, but, she's taking some over-the-counter pain medication and managing.  Her daughter wasn't there when I called, but, she was coming over in the early afternoon, T said.

In the evening, my daughter helped me to order some groceries.  I haven't done a major grocery shopping since the end of July!  I wanted to get some fresh produce, bread, orange juice, chicken, etc., plus a couple of treats!  I hope I will be able to get everything I ordered (I won't know until sometime tomorrow, when they go to gather the items for the order; I said substitutions were OK, except for the condensed milk!).

Today, I am grateful for:

- Being able to get to the correct location for my medical tests!

- Getting all three procedures done in one go.

- Cheerful technicians who are working under what has to be stressful conditions

- A safe drive there and back

- Free parking

- Daughter helping me with ordering groceries

Today's joyful activity was chatting with my daughter.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with the podiatrist, in the morning.  That is another medical appointment I have been postponing since April!  Later, in the afternoon, I will pick up my groceries and deliver the items I will be picking up for friend R.  Not sure what else I'll be able to get done, tomorrow.

How was your Wednesday?  What are your plans for Thursday?

  1. 106 is not warm. That is hot!
Glad the sky is even slightly better. Hoping for some rain soon to help with the fires.

    1. No, anything below 110F is warm! 110 and above is hot! LOL. No rain in the forecast, but, it would help if we do receive some.

  2. This must be your catching up time with all your delayed medical appointments. It was good that they did all three scans in the one appointment yesterday - I always want to shower after I've been covered in that gel they use! Hope the podiatry appointment goes smoothly today, and that there are good results from every procedure.

Your last big shop seemed to last well didn't it, or are you eating into your earthquake supplies as well?

    1. Yes, I am catching up on all the postponed medical appointments. I want to get them done while I know that I still have my medical coverage because, no matter however much people may verbally assure me that everything will go smoothly and my insurance coverage will not lapse, I am still worried about it! So, get everything done and a flu shot before my birthday and I can take it from there!

I stocked up really well during my last couple of grocery shopping and I've been eating from that, plus the one or two items like bread, milk, and grapes, that I've asked others to buy for me. But, I don't want to let the stocks get too low, and I wanted to get some perishables, as well.

  3. I thought it was blazing hot in Florida but you have us beat! Glad you were able to get all the tests taken care of at the same appointment. Hope you are able to get all the groceries you want too. Have a great Thursday :)

    1. Well, you have more humidity and that makes it worse, I think. Yes, I'm glad all three tests were done at the same time. Keeping my fingers crossed on the groceries! They have a caveat that quantities maybe limited, items maybe unavailable, etc.

Thank you, Martha. Hope you are safe from the hurricanes!

  5. Isn't it great when appointments work out so well? I guess that almost made up for having to take a second shower, but at least you had the three appointments together and not on separate occasions.
You will be glad to get your grocery order. I hope you get everything you want and no crazy substitutions. At least you specified no substitutions for the condensed milk.
The weather is cool but lovely again, with a blue sky. We even ate lunch outside in the sun. I sat outside for a long time afterwards because I know that soon enough we will have to stay indoors. I should be pulling out the rest of the milkweed but there are some cute little moth caterpillars that frequent them and I don't want to upset them. It's bad enough that some of them are munching on shriveled brown leaves!

    1. I was very happy with how the appointment worked out. One visit is so much better than separate visits, especially these days.

I was able to pick up my grocery order today. They didn't have a few items I wanted and substituted a couple of other items with my approval. I received 2 cans of condensed milk (I had requested 6).

I'm glad you got to enjoy some sun, today. It was rather warm, here, today. I'm sure the caterpillars are grateful that you are leaving the milkweed in place for them, even if the leaves are shriveled and brown!

  6. Haha I am laughing - you definitely have enough condensed milk.
I'm glad you were able to get all 3 tests done at the same time.

    1. I didn't want to risk having them substitute any more dulce de leche! I was happy that all the tests were done at the same time. Less risk of exposure, time spent travelling there and back, etc.

    2. As soon as I hit post I realized I typed condensed milk when I meant to say dulce de leche. lol. I knew you'd know what I meant.
Before you, I'd never heard of drinking condensed milk in tea. Did your mother have her tea that way?
      I bet it's good :)

    3. Tea with condensed milk is something I learned from my step-father. Certainly makes a cup of very sweet tea. :)
