Friday

I've had a fairly quiet day, today.  I haven't experienced any pain from the tooth extraction; if anything, my arm feels more sore from the flu shot than my mouth feels from the extraction!  I didn't have to take any more pain medications, today.  Even so, I took it easy and watched TV, read blogs, played some online solitaire, etc., all day, pausing, occasionally, to practice the piano, water the houseplants, clean the litter box, collect today's mail, and take two bags of papers, etc., to the recycling bin.

I had a cup of lukewarm tea when I woke up, followed by a bowl of tomato soup for breakfast, the last of the stew that neighbor S had given me (thinned down with some water) for lunch, and more tomato soup with two slices of buttered bread for dinner.  What I really wanted for dinner was milk rice, but, I felt too lazy to cook it and the onion relish I like to eat with it; I might cook some, tomorrow, though.  I resisted the temptation of having more ice cream, today, but, I had a cup of iced coffee in the evening, instead of tea.

Friend M tended to the garden in the evening.  He brought me a few more plants to add to my collection, including a jacaranda seedling and a Boston ivy cutting.  Yay, more plants for the garden!

Some of you commented that you were able to buy disposable face masks online; thank you for that information.  I checked it out and informed my daughter; we have ordered some masks and they will be delivered, some to me and some to her, in a few days.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Not experiencing any pain from the tooth extraction

- For helpful blog readers

- Being able to order some disposable masks

- M bringing me more plants for the garden

- A working blender (to puree my soup)

Today's joyful activity was video chatting with my daughter.

I don't have any firm plans for tomorrow.  Another quiet, relaxed day, I think, with maybe a short car ride.

How was your Friday?  What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. I'm glad you were able to order masks for you and your daughter. For a while in the beginning they were hard to find, but I see them everywhere now. We have gotten ours at the grocery store. If you need more in the future, you might be able to include them with your grocery order.

    1. Thank you, Live and Learn. The problem was, my daughter wanted me to get medical grade face masks, the ones that are designed to keep viruses out, and not the regular masks. Medical grade masks are just not available in my area, right now. But, I was able to find some that have been lab tested as being safe for use in dental clinics; my daughter researched them and read the reviews, so, those are what we ordered. They cost a lot more than the regular face masks, though. I ordered some of the regular masks, as well, to have on hand. I can wear them when the risk of infection is relatively low.

  3. Hi, Bless! I had a tooth extraction a short whi!e ago and actually grieved for the tooth loss. I have soft teeth so they sometimes break off at the gum line. I thought it amusing about you acquiring an English ivy plant when I am trying to get rid of mine. We have it everywhere on our property. Enjoy your weekend.💖

    1. My teeth aren't very strong, either, Susan.

No, not an English ivy plant; a Boston ivy plant, sometimes known as grape ivy. It is not a true ivy, but, is more like the Virginia creeper and the leaves change color in the cooler weather. There was some English ivy growing at the very back when I bought the house, but, I removed it.

  6. I'm so glad the extraction isn't causing trouble and that you were able to take it easy and have soft food. I hope your new plants do well. I love Jacaranda from the first time I ever saw one!
I've been sitting on the deck surrounded by glorious fall colour, peeling cutting up windfalls, and I have a couple of freezer bags done already with enough for a pie in each, now stored in the freezer. There are still more to deal with but I'm happy to have them as they are a good flavour.

    1. Thank you, Bushlady; I'm so relieved that the extraction site is not hurting!

Sounds like you've been busy processing all those apples! Apple pie sounds delightful! I'm looking forward to it being cool enough to bake, again. :)

  7. I'm glad you are feeling well after the tooth extraction, Bless.
I missed several days of blog posts, so I read your previous post as well. I chuckled while reading about your conversation with the pharmacists. LOL

It's good that you were able to order more masks. I'm still using my stack of disposable masks bought for during home renovation. here are masks for sale even at Home Depot, but not disposable surgical masks.

Hope you are having a relaxing weekend.

    1. Thank you, Nil. I'm glad you enjoyed reading about my conversation with the pharmacists. :D

Yes, my daughter wanted me to get the disposable surgical masks, but, they are not available. I found something that was good enough, though. I told her that something was better than nothing, and, I can always wear them under my fabric ones as a liner for extra protection.

    1. Thank you, Stephenie; since it broke at the gum line, they couldn't save it.
