Saturday

Another relaxed day.  I slept in, then, spent the rest of the morning replying to blog comments, practicing the piano, watching a bit of TV, and doing the dishes.

In the afternoon, I took a container of my tomato soup and a sleeve of saltine-type crackers to friend R; soup and crackers for her dinner.  I put the bag with them in one of the two styrofoam boxes I have in the trunk of my car and she took the bag from the trunk.  Contactless delivery and pick up!

It was a sunny day, with a high of 85F (cooler than yesterday!), and poor air quality according to one website and fair, according to another!  LOL!  But, I didn't get any asthma flare ups, for which I am grateful.  The temperature is supposed to go up, again, next week, with highs above 100F, mid-week.  We really don't get the usual fall weather until later in October.

In the evening, I did a little paperwork, opening mail that had been sitting out to air, tossing out offers to buy my house (thanks, but I have no plans to sell) and senior health care plans that will be available upon receiving Medicare when I turn 65 (each a reminder that I have my phone appointment related to that, next Friday), and setting aside the bills to be paid and statements to be filed.

I wanted something a little more substantial than soup for my dinner, so cooked some boxed macaroni and cheese; with a little frozen green peas and chili powder added, it was just what I wanted.  Not only was it a meal from the pantry and freezer, it was a frugal meal, too, as the box of macaroni and cheese cost under $1.00.  Later, I might add some shredded cooked chicken to the leftovers.

Today, I am grateful for:

- Relaxed days

- Being able to visit friend R and take some homemade soup to her

- Not having an asthma flare up

- Not having any pain from the tooth extraction

- Antibiotics

Today's joyful activity was visiting friend R and taking her some soup.

Plans for tomorrow include more relaxing and, maybe, a little more paperwork.  What are your plans for Sunday?

  1. I can't seem to get going today (Sunday). I have to clear out the understairs cupboard as the electricity and gas meters are being changed to SMART meters tomorrow morning, but I'm really making hard work of it. Still, I suppose this is a good opportunity to sort through everything and decide what to keep. I just don't feel like doing it though! It was only 15°C in the house this morning so the central heating has been switched on. I just want to cuddle up under a blanket and read but I need to at least finish emptying the cupboard first.

I'm glad to read that the tooth extraction went well and that you haven't really had any lingering pain, except for the flu jab in your arm. I have that to look forward to as my jab is scheduled for this Saturday. Take care xx

    1. Maybe just concentrate on taking out everything from the cupboard and leave the sorting for later? Once the emptying is done, you can relax and read. Sundays are supposed to be days of rest, anyway, aren't they?

Thank you; good luck with your flu jab!

  2. Glad to hear you had another relaxed day and have many things to be grateful for. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. It's football on Sundays at this time of year for us.

    1. Thank you, Martha. Enjoy your football Sunday! I read the description of the buffet you plan to prepare for your football Sunday and it sounded wonderful!

  3. I'm glad that you aren't having any pain in that tooth. My mom always told me to rinse my mouth with warm salt water after dental work. It's amazing how fast the mouth heals. Tomato soup sounds delicious!

    1. Thank you, Stephenie. Your mom was right! My step-father was a dental surgeon and that was what he always told his patients to do and it was what I did, too. :)
I must admit that I am rather partial to my homemade tomato soup. :)

  4. I am glad it was a relaxed day for you too!
Saturday was football opening day for all SEC teams, so we watched/listened to various football games all day while we did mundane errands and chores.
I am sorry your air is not better, but at least it is not making your asthma worse.

    1. Hi Merry, I am glad you were able to watch/listen to football games while you did your Saturday's tasks. I like to watch the games, sometimes, myself, and am watching one, right now (Packers and Saints).

Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

  5. We usually keep a box or two of mac and cheese for days when we need something easy. Our favorite is to add a can of tuna and some peas. Some of the family likes to add a little hot sauce to their serving, too.

    1. I, too, often add tuna to my mac and cheese and so does my daughter. A little hot sauce is good, too. :)

  6. That was so nice of you to take some of your soup to your friend R.
    I'm sure she enjoyed it.
A couple of nice relaxed days whenever you want are one of the pleasures of retirement.

    1. Thank you, Debra. R doesn't like to cook, so, whenever I can, I take some cooked food to her.

As for relaxing, I feel that I am being lazy and nonproductive when I relax! But, I really didn't feel up to doing much after the tooth extraction and flu shot!
