Wednesday's Activities

Decluttered Book #20

I had a fairly relaxed morning, enjoying a cup of tea while I replied to blog comments.  Then, it was time to get dressed and go to my doctor's appointment.  The appointment was scheduled for 1:30 p.m.  I left the house a little before 12:30 p.m. and got to the clinic around 1:15 p.m.  There was just enough time to check in, get my parking ticket validated, read a couple of prayers in my prayer book, and watch a little bit of news coverage on the TV in the waiting room before being called in.

I was afraid I might have put on weight (the medication the doctor put me on to reduce the swelling has a tendency to increase the appetite, so I've been feeling hungry and constantly eating!), but the nurse checked my weight and said I had gained all of 4 ounces since my last visit, a month ago.  Of course, we would have both been happier if I had lost some weight, but, I was happy I hadn't gained as much as I had feared!

The doctor checked me and pronounced himself very happy with my progress.  The swelling has gone down a bit and I don't feel any discomfort, etc.  He wants me to continue with the medication (and gave me a new prescription) and to come back in six weeks' time for a follow-up.  I made the appointment before I left.

I came home a little after 2:30 p.m.  I was hungry for lunch, by then, so I made a tuna salad sandwich (I shared a little of the tuna and some of the lettuce with Dancer, who was very happy with his treat!).

Aunt C had called and left a message while I was out, so I called her back and left her a message in return, as she didn't answer her phone.  I was watching news and shredding the papers in a file folder when I remembered I hadn't taken the new prescription to the pharmacy!  But, I didn't feel like going out, again, so, decided to go to the pharmacy tomorrow morning.

Instead, I removed all the books on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in the family room and dusted the shelf and the tops of the books.  Then, I put the books back on the shelf.  There is about one linear foot of empty space on that shelf, now, after my recent decluttering!  Progress!  LOL!

Today, I am grateful for:
- A good visit with the radiation oncologist
- A safe drive to the clinic and back
- I hadn't gained much weight, after all
- Validated parking at this clinic (I have to pay only $2 and not $8)
- Conversations with my daughter

Wednesday's To Do List:
- Dr's appointment - DONE
- Clean the fridge - DONE
- Clean the bathroom - DONE

Thursday's To Do List:
- Pharmacy to hand in new prescription
- Dollar store for more bananas
- Crafts store to buy paint for daughter
- Clean the kitchen
- Paperwork/filing - Respond to the Census survey on-line

How was your Wednesday?  What have you planned for Thursday?

    1. Thank you, Lyssa. The book decluttering is hard for me, because, although I haven't read some of these books since I first bought them, I now think I should read them one last time before I give them away!

  3. Glad that you had a good doctor's appointment. All of my prescriptions are sent electronically (or occasionally with a call for refills) to the pharmacies, so I haven't had a paper copy of a prescription in a long time. They do it while I'm right there during the appointment so I know it's done. Do your doctors do that? Thought about that procedure when you said you forgot to drop your prescription off.

    1. The other doctors have done that; sent the prescription electronically. But, this particular doctor gives the paper prescriptions. Actually, I much prefer the paper ones because, this way, I know if I have handed it in to the pharmacy or not! When my former primary care doctor used to send the prescriptions electronically, the pharmacy used to often claim that they didn't receive it! Then, I had to call the doctor's office and go back and forth between them and the pharmacy.

  4. That's good news about your medical results. The 4 oz weight increase may just be down to the normal weight fluctuations that everyone experiences, rather than an actual gain.

Did you read that book? I read a bit of it but didn't understand it at all so gave up!

    1. Thank you, Eileen; yes, that's what the nurse said, too - normal fluctuations, or a full bladder, etc.

Yes, I read the book and enjoyed it. I have a tendency to highlight things as I read them (only do so with my own books!), and this book is heavily highlighted! LOL. I got all excited, the other day, when I heard on the news that scientists had managed to take the first photograph of a black hole! My daughter was laughing at me, saying, "You would get excited about something like that!" :)

  5. I’m happy to hear your doctor’s appointment went well.
I read on another blog that CVS gives free bottles of water when filling a prescription. If you use bottled water, see if they do the same in your area. 😊

    1. Thank you, Nil.

Really? I've never seen them handout any bottles of water to anyone! I shall ask them, when I go, today, but, I really doubt that they do it in my area!

    2. Bless, it’s Belinda at Frugal Workshop mentioned it. Perhaps it’s only in TN.

    3. I forgot to ask them about it, today! But, now that I know they do it in TN, I shall ask them, next time.

  6. I'm glad your dr. appt went well. Maybe you mentioned it already, but did your step fathers family get back to you on taking the medals and box?

    1. Thank you. Yes, my step father's sister called me back; at first, she said to keep the box and medals, then, she called me back the next day and said she had had a change of heart and would like to have them, after all. I am getting it ready to mail it to her - I've included a couple of other things that belonged to her father. I am looking for some photographs now, to include in the package, but they are proving to be illusive! I might just mail them separately, when I find them.

    1. No, I didn't. I am not much of a movie-goer. I have seen documentaries about him on the public TV channels, though.

  8. Hi Bless, Wednesday was enjoyable. I watched a wonderful documentary about A Chorus Line on Amazon Prime and made homemade pizza. Today was a beach day...glorious!

  9. That was a positive visit to the doctor and 4 ounces is no big deal for a weight increase. It is so little that it would probably disappear with the energy expended if you sneezed!

We had another odd day. I was in the town for about an hour and it rained heavily twice (fortunately I was indoors). When I got home everything was bone dry! I was able to hang out laundry which dried well, and I walked to my friend's and back in dry weather. Then at suppertime we had a wee bit of thunder and a few spots of rain, not enough to fill in the area on the deck where we could see them.

I took a pretty cook book of English teatime recipes for my friend to borrow (or keep if she wishes) and in it was a recipe for curry puffs! I still haven't made any yet but I will probably go to your recipe when I do.

    1. Yes, it was a good visit to the doctor. Let's see what I weigh at my other doctor's appointment, tomorrow! The doctor I'll be seeing tomorrow is more likely to fuss at me about my weight than the doctor I saw, yesterday!

I think Mother Nature is confused with all this climate change stuff and that is what is causing the uncertain and odd weather! I wouldn't mind another shower of rain down here, but, we probably won't get anymore rain until winter.

I remember you mentioning the book, earlier; how interesting that it had a recipe for curry puffs in it! I should make some, next week - my daughter will be coming home over the 4th of July weekend, and she loves my curry puffs. I always make enough for her to take back with her. :)

    2. I found your photos and recipe for Curry Puffs in August 2018, just in case anyone else is reading and would like to see them.
