First, I called one of my friends and chatted with her for a bit. Then, I decided that, since another friend's daughter is to have a baby, later this year, I should check my fabric stash to see if I had any fabric that was suitable to make a baby gift. As I sorted through the fabric, I decided that I really ought to do something to bring my fabric stash under control. My scrap baskets are overflowing!
An Abundance of Fabric Scraps! |
I have been wanting to make a string quilt for some time, so, that's what I decided to do:
String Quilt Blocks |
I made several individual blocks. I set them out to see how they might look when arranged so that the diagonals form a secondary design:

Today's book decluttering:
6/13 Book Decluttering |
Today, I am grateful for:
- A cooler day
- An abundance of fabric scraps!
- Playing with fabric
- Being able to take a "me" day
- Friends who are wise and share their wisdom with me
Me days are always so good☺☺
ReplyDeleteThey really are, Natalia. A day of sewing is like a spa day, for me!
DeleteIt's almost cold, today, over here! I hope it has cooled down a bit for you, too.
You should have more ‘off’ days. 😊
ReplyDeleteI can see that’s going to be a very nice quilt.
Thank you, Nil. I started out cutting the fabric, but then, I got bored with that, so ended up sewing as I went! I wanted instant results! LOL.
DeleteDo a crazy quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI just might, Akasha, with all the leftover bits and pieces! :)
DeleteI've taken a couple of days off, too. It feels lovely. Your quilt blocks are so pretty...
ReplyDeleteI think I was finding all that decluttering of files and books to be a bit much. I just needed a break! Thank you; it's been very relaxing to play with all my fabric!
DeleteLooks like a great quilt! Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. A me day is a great thing - you deserve one especially in retirement!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. This is my idea of an ideal retirement activity! Some people go on vacations or quilting retreats; I am taking a mini-vacation/quilting retreat right at home!
DeleteObviously Dancer doesn't approve of your quilting activity as he is not there in charge as usual! Or perhaps he was taking a nap on the spare room quilt and missed what was going on? Will he be miffed that he wasn't consulted on this latest quilting? Or will he just brush it off as being unimportant because you were "just playing"?
ReplyDeleteCuriously, he's not been very interested in what I've been doing, this time around! I think it is because I have the ironing board out so I can iron each piece of fabric, after I sew it down, and he's afraid of the ironing board! He did meow for me to open the door to the spare room so he could take a nap on the bed there, on "his" quilt! Most probably, he'll come to help when I start spreading the quilt blocks on the bed to arrange them. LOL.
DeleteMaybe he's waiting for you to tell him that you are making a quilt for him ... you know he's expecting one!
DeleteMaybe. He threw up on the quilt that was on my bed, early this morning, (most of it landed on the floor, but some got on my quilt), so maybe he's making his opinion known! I've a passive-aggressive cat!
DeleteI've had a day like that today. I couldn't settle to anything and have flitted from one thing to another without achieving much at all.
ReplyDeleteDays like that can be quite frustrating, but, sometimes, we get more done than we realize. Hope tomorrow will be a better day for you. :)
