Decluttered Book #21 |
I slept in, this morning and had a relaxed rest of the morning. I had my morning cup of tea, responded to blog comments, played a few games of sudoku, and watched the soccer match (England vs. Norway). Breakfast was the last of the bananas I bought earlier in the week.
Later, in the afternoon, I went to the pharmacy to get my prescription filled. While they did that, I went over to the dollar store, next door, and bought three more bananas, which came to $.51. Then, I went back to the pharmacy and waited until the prescription was ready.
After that, I went to the crafts store to buy the paint my daughter had wanted to make an accessory for one of her cosplay outfits. While I was there, I looked around and saw all the birdhouses to be painted. I rather like the ones with the picket fences! Since one of the alternative prompts on the Summer Photographic Scavenger Hunt was birdhouses, I took a couple of photos of them, just in case!

There were a couple of other items I drooled over at the crafts store, but, they weren't on sale and I was good and didn't buy anything other than the paint for my daughter. However, when I paid for the paint, I received a coupon for 40% off one regular price item, so, I just might go back and buy one of the items I coveted!
After tea, I watched the Democratic candidates' debate and sewed more string quilt squares. I have sewn 80 squares, so far, and I figure I need at least 120 squares for a twin/full size quilt. The baskets of scraps are still quite full, if not quite overflowing!
Dinner was frozen battered fish fillets, baked, with a side of green peas.
Today, I am grateful for:
- My prescription was filled without any delays or drama
- Fresh lemonade made with lemons from my trees
- A sunny and warm afternoon
- Interesting programs to watch on TV
- An evening spent playing with fabric
My joyful activity for the day was playing with fabric.

As usual, I'm fascinated by the things you can grow in your climate that I can't here. Lemonade from freshly pick lemons. Sounds wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it's one of the things I almost take for granted! With three lemon trees, I usually have plenty of lemons on hand. The current crop is coming to an end (after I gave away all those lemons, earlier), but, I still get to enjoy a glass of fresh lemonade every so often (not too often because of the sugar!)
DeleteI would have loved that myth book
ReplyDeleteIt is a good book. It's based on a public TV program that aired back in the late 1980s. This was the companion book to it. I believe the TV shows are available to watch online. You might also be able to borrow the book from your library.
DeleteI like the birdhouses, a good choice for the scavenger hunt.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched a football match in years, or any sport come to that, but I have made the decision to follow the tennis at Wimbledon this year. It used to be something we looked forward to every year and I'd like to get back to that. Worth a try anyway!
Thank you! I can't seem to find any bumper stickers, funny or otherwise, so, I might have to use at least one alternative.
DeleteI enjoy watching certain sports on TV, although I don't actually play a single sport! Tennis at Wimbledon is a favorite! :)
I haven't found a bumper sticker either so unless my luck changes, I will also need one of the alternatives.
DeleteAt first I read your price for the 3 bananas as $51. Yikes! Then I looked again and saw the dot in front.
ReplyDeleteWell at least you are getting some books decluttered, even if it is hard to do. Don't forget, when you have got rid of a whole lot, you will be able to pick up lots more in sales because there are always goodies out there just waiting for you. (and then you will have to start decluttering all over again!). I'm not helping, am I?
Ha, ha, those would be expensive bananas!
DeleteNo, you are not helping at all! :D What I have promised myself I will do is have another book decluttering challenge later in the year. That will give me time to re-read all the books I've pulled out and looked at and put back because I want to read them, again! I am giving myself time to look through them one more time, before I let them go.
I am a great fan of frozen battered or breaded fish, preferring it to fresh fish which always seems ta bit of a let-down. Although I do buy and cook it, my favourite fish is whiting (rare to find except at the sea-side), or plaice. A breaded plaice fillet ....yum yum!
ReplyDeleteI checked to see what type of fish was used in the frozen fish I bought and it is pollock. I don't think I've eaten either whiting or plaice.
DeletePlaice is a flat fish commonly eaten in the UK. Whiting is a rarity but also comparatively cheap. The fillets are quite meaty, but small. Pollock is always referred to 'white fish' on restaurant menus or in stores as, for some reason, it's not sold as pollock. I'm happy to eat it.
DeleteSole has been the only flat fish I've seen in the regular supermarkets, here. There really isn't a lot of variety in the fish in the regular supermarkets, but, the Asian grocery store has a lot of variety (except, one has to buy the entire fish, which can be too much, unless it is a smaller fish like trout).
DeleteThose birdhouses look really good! I never thought to look at the craft store. I shall have to do that next time I get to one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I found these birdhouses at Michael's. :)
